Great info and reviews. I have several of these in my cellar now, but wasnt aware of some either, so will pick them up (Tom Eddy, AXR). Thanks for putting out great videos!
I have to say it….. Behringer Knights Valley is not from Napa that is clearly an AVA in Sonoma for anyone else that was confused about that…. “In 1983, Knights Valley was approved as a new American Viticultural Area (AVA). In Sonoma, the Knights Valley designation was first used on a Beringer label in 1974.” - Behringer Other than that I loved the video I loved your energy and got me hyped to drink some Napa Cabernet Sauvignon!!! Especially that Tom Eddy that wine has always had a special place in my heart haha
@@decantswithd I’m aware, if the video was about visiting wineries I wouldn’t of said anything but this is a top 10 Napa Cabs and that isn’t a Napa cab although Behringer’s history is clearly strongly rooted in Napa this wine is not (even if it’s only 17miles away) . I truly wasn’t trying to be annoying I think it was important people know this information is all because it truly is a great wine for the money and I think its wonderful you expose people to this Cabernet but they should know it’s Sonoma Vineyards. I believe education is so important and Knight’s Valley is so distinct as well as awesome!
Visited AXR about a week ago. Great location, hosts and fantastic wines. Been tasting the Cab for about a year now and got a chance to taste their ‘19 barrel samples of their single vineyard Cabs and the flagship/reserve. Amazing.
I would agree with the Heitz recommendation and the Shafer 1.5 as well. I would add the Inglenook Cab starting with the 2012 Vintage when Philippe Bascuales (Margaux) took over Winemaking Operations as well as the Classic Chapellet White Label Cab as well. D did a nice job with the list though!
I have a double Magnum 2012 Caymus, I got it 6 years ago for my birthday. Should I open it now or I have more time. If I open it can it be opened for few days ? Because it’s 4 bottles , either I have a party or I drink 750 ml a day for four days ? Please suggest ty sir You are awesome

Thank you so much, your show saved me a lot time from select some of the best bottles of wine, and”Caymus” was my favorite….love it and will try the rest bottles among that ten
Always enjoy your show…. I would add Shafer One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon & Chappellet Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon to the list. Also, Caymus is an OK wine if you like fruit & sweet “bombs” but no way top ten. Cheers! 🍷
@@chrisginoc - Same here...Mayacamas are very age worthy wines, especially the ‘16 vintage. I plan on holding until at least ‘26-‘28. I typically cellar My age worthy Napa cabs for 10 - 12 years. 🍷
CAYMUS REALLY!?!!!?? Your list is for the pedestrians. There is a real California Cabernet blend selection: Mt Brave Grace Realm del dotto lokoya la jota cenyth mayacamas vérité ridge Montebello.
Actually, 90-95% of the grapes were already harvested when the 2017 fires happened. Don’t be afraid of 2017 if you are drinking wines from quality producers. A top quality winery isn’t going to risk their reputation by releasing a smoke tainted wine.
Hi, Dietmar! I think (also suggest) that before you call any Napa Cabernet, "the best cabernet in the world"; you should try an Argentinian Cabernet. Best soil, terroir, temperatures variation, more experience in the art of making wines, etc. You americans tend to think everything that comes from you is "the best in the world"; and sometimes is right, and sometimes is wrong.
Cheers!!! Thank you for sharing your top 10 Napa Cabernets. Great recommendation.
Tried the Tom Eddy. It was unbeeeleeevable. Thank you!

True, Wyatt, but the winery is in St. Helena.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, they are a player now in Napa!
Knights Valley is a Sonoma AVA not Napa!
Picking 10 favorites from Napa, not an easy task. Thank-you. I would say Heitz Cellars Napa Valley for sixty-ish would be on my list.
You should try Trefethen's $45-$50 entry level cab.
Never had it, need to check it out!

@@jeffreymiller9808 Shafer 1.5 is great bag for your buck. Unfortunately they raised the 2018 vintage to $99 now.

Thanks Misotam
Me too, I like that
Dietmar. Love the Cali cabs as well. What’s your thoughts on BV. The cab is fantastic. And the tapestry red blend is equally satisfying
I do like them both

Hello D.
Did you teasting The wine opus one and Overture...thank you
Not yet! But Opus is coming
Excellent! That's quite the Napa line up! I enjoy Shafer One Point Five which is just below $100
That’s a good one too!
Good to learn to avoid 2017 for Napa wines. Interestingly, 2017 was a great year for Virginia wines. Bucket list is to tour vineyards in Cali.
Keep it on the bucket list, it’s that great!
In fact, plan to go twice.
no ridge !?
I love this guy. GET TO DA WINE CHOPPA!
how about Robert Mondavi??? surprised it didn't make the list.
Do you prefer Napa Cabs over left bank Bordeauxs?
I do today.
Growing up in Europe I used to like the left bank more. But today, not even a question for me - Napa Cabernet!
How about opus one, Robert Mondavi, insignia?
All way over $100. We limited for this too 10 to no more than $120/ bottle
That Long Island accent gets me every time!
BTW, Thank you very much for this excellent video, D! 👍😊
It’s the Arnold from Long Island

I have a 2016 Mayacamas resting in my wine cellar. When do you think I can drink it?

In 2-3 years my friend
yes, 10 years is perfect for a good Napa cab. I am drinking currently all my 2012 and 2013.
Knights valley isn’t in Napa. It’s Sonoma.
True, but right at the boarder.
And the Beringer winery is in St.Helena, so there are strong Napa roots

It is very good, but it is not from Napa

I agree on smoke taint but 17 compared to 13 15 16 18 19 is just not the same quality except for a few top end players.
That's true Rob

Argentinian Cabernets and Malbecs are great, too!
I would be interested learning specific ARG cabs and years to look for.
I have done 2 videos on Argentinian Malbec. And 2 Chilean Cabernets. But none on Argentinian Cabs. Coming soon!
@@LiveLoveCHXBeach 2017, 18 and 19 were outstanding in Argentina
Barnett absolutely!!! Caymus? belong to the circus.
Did he learn his English in a pretzel factory?
No screw tops.
You lost all of your credibility rating Cadmus over Mayacamas. Heck… Cadmus is not even a wine, it’s a Welch juice with mega purple.
Did not mean to do that.
Mayacamus is one of my all time favorite Cabs.
Why is he so loud…..?
Infectious wine energy
I agree with all the wined but the caymus horrible fruit BOMB
Caymus is very different and some serious wine drinkers are turned off by it.
.
Napa Cab under 100 bucks is a bit of a joke. Definitely not top 10
Recommendations please. I'm trying to get my bearings for good Cabernet Sauvignon.
Caymus? 🤷🏻♂️🤢🤢
