Thanks for sharing, I am like you, I love my space, never wanted children, traveled, moved, and then married at 45, because I did find someone I wanted to share my life and space with! ..married for 26 years, loved sharing that life, lost him to cancer 10 years ago, still single, loving my space and single life... everyone is different, it's great when someone has the life they want, and I'm still working and living at 82! I love hearing and seeing all the things that you do, if I was young again, I would be doing what you are doing!... to your happy adventures ahead whatever they may be.....
Love your videos! l’m 65, never married, no kids, I dote on my niece and nephews. I LOVE my alone time, doing whatever I want and not having to check in with anyone!
I'm Brazilian, I'm 60 years old and I admire your courage, strength and determination. As a woman, breaking patterns is always difficult, but it's beautiful to see. Congratulations on your life and your choices! Be happy and care less and less about what people think of you. ❤
My daughter has problems with depression. She incorporated exercise into her life . She became so proficient, the gym she goes to offered her a job. She now teaches 6 classes a week and even takes classes with other instructors. Does her a world of good!!!
You are such an interesting and lovely person and it's great that you share some of your deeper thoughts. And you have the right to only share what YOU want. I admire all that you do and when you don't know how to do it, you'll find out. And thanks for breaking the stereotype of what women should or should not do. It really makes me mad when people assume things and expect that you should fall into a certain box. Why is it so hard to just let everybody live their lives the way they want to?
I was born to be a mom. I have three grown kids. My eldest daughter is 31 and has chosen to not have children or a partner at this point. My son and his wife have been together since high school and are still waiting at 29 to have kids at some point. Then there is my youngest who has also been with her high school sweetheart for 9 years, however they are 24 and married with 4 kids that are 5, 2 year old twins and a 1 year old! All my kids have chosen different paths. I truly believe in this world there is no longer a right or normal way to move through life. We just need to give each other the space to be our own true selves.
Thank you for being open about not wanting a family. Even as a guy (I think girls get it worse), I get so many comments about "having a family", and I just don't understand why people are SO obsessed with other people having kids. I like my life without kids. I like my freedom. I wish they'd just accept people want different things out of life..
If only they could appreciate us for who we are. I was never meant to be a mother. It's better to know it early in life; because leaving a family is the hardest thing to. When someone finally realizes they have different needs, and it was never meant to be, no matter how hard he or she tried to please others.
I'm childfree by choice and have known that basically my whole life. I'm glad you shared that truth about yourself and choosing not to marry as it may help someone who's feeling pressured. I wouldn't think anything of your partner helping you as being bad or weak. I do think really independent people have a difficult time asking for help, but as usually always helping others when asked. If your partner can help and wants to, let them. ❤
I'm one of the many that discovered your channel with that pine needles basket video. I'm glad that it stumbled upon my youtube feed cause I like very much all your content 😀I'm sure that vongola will be used to the bike trail very soon. cheers =)
Thank you for being probably the most honest person on UA-cam. You certainly don't have to be anyone but yourself to achieve your goals or targets that fit you. It's rather nice to hear that you have a partner for some things but that is none our business and we view your videos simply as how you choose to lead your life and as a brilliant example of what any one person can achieve if they choose to do so. You bring us practical ideas, joy and laughter. We genuinely appreciate you in return. Have faith in yourself as we do in you. Love and best wishes from Ellan Vannin/Isle of Man somewhere in the Irish Sea. We would welcome you in an instant!
Thanks for your honesty! I’m totally with you on so many things: Seasonal sadness Not wanting kids (I’m female) Having some long term boyfriends, but not getting married. Owning my own homes and doing as much of my own work as possible. And finally supporting myself off my very small business for 27 years already. All that is to say that I relate to much of your content and I very much respect you !!! 68-year old happy lady in San Francisco and proud Patreon member :-)))
You're not alone. I'm feeling that seasonal change. Just remember that you are a passenger on a planet that is racing around the sun and blasting through the universe. You have no control over the seasons
Your pathway is set so naturally into the earth, as if it’s always been there; well done. I too use my small van as a truck at times, moving rocks and furniture, etc. And then, using ramps and other tricks for managing large objects on my own works rather better than people realize. I call this my ‘Egyptian pyramid-building techniques.’ I remember your pine basket video and your demeanor as you demonstrated; it made me want to subscribe.
You forgot spinning around its axis daily at an incredible speed!😄 Wobbling a bit throughout the year, thus creating the seasons for certain parts on the rock. Vitamin D to the rescue!
I have many plans that leads one to feeling overwhelmed, the best way is to not worry and start with one thing at a time, then build ideas around it by working with what you have and the time available, which then gives you the courage to tackle it by also adding inspiration as you go. Remember Rome wasn't built overnight, you only need to prove to yourself the progress then it becomes super easy.
Yes indeed about boundaries, I didn't have any, so had to learn how to cultivate some. Life is short which reminds me of a song... by Jim Croce " there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them" Take care.
The green on your steps is algae. It grows there because it is damp and shady. You could just leave it, but if you want to remove it you can use boiling water, spray vinegar or a dilute solution of bleach. These are listed in order of environmental friendliness. Thank you for your wonderful channel.
Glad to see another video from you. Glad to see you are doing well. As for projects, I been redoing my back yard now for 3 years and I could have hired landscapers to do it in a week. But I think you and I are quite similar, we prefer to do things ourselves and we prefer our solitaire lifestyle without having to be lonely. You are a strong woman (both mentally and physically). Don't worry about how long it takes you to do a project compared to what others may be able to do it in. You are getting the experience of doing it. It is being done the way you want it to be done. And when it is done, you get to enjoy the work you put in to it.
You go Girl! I am probably twice your age and never had the desire to live a traditional life (married with kids - nothing wrong with that of course). Instead I get to enjoy an adventurous life, similar to what you are doing but not as many skills just yet but getting there. I do admire all your skills. Well done on those stairs. It doesn't matter how long it takes, the result is beautiful and with plants and spring tulips it will be amazing. I am planting 4 new trees on my property, so I know what it feels like to finish up a difficult task. Keep being you, I can't wait to see your next videos. Oh, I am a dancer too :)
What a beautifully honest video. The older I get the more I feel that an "alternative" way of life is what I crave....but really that's too late for me - even though my life is anything but normal. . Keep following your heart and thank you for creating such an enjoyable safe space in your vlogs.
Marina I appreciate you and your videos so much. Thanks for opening up with us and sharing so much. I’m definitely in the “no kids” camp and love it! Keep on being you. You are wonderful. ❤
Good on you living the way that’s right for you, frustrating getting comments like that. I’m married but we decided kids wasn’t for us and 100% think everyone should do what’s right for them and not what’s expected x
Some of the women on UA-cam are so inspiring and self made and so different from how I'm ... I love love them.... With or without partner it doesn't not matter, they are doing what they want (I mean they might have much more expectations from themselves) but they are all lovely and strong... I'm so inspired by them. You are one such person. Hope I could join your patreon some day. Love from India.
Thank you for this very honest presentation . I have an 1880 Victorian, and some days, I am just stuck, others, I get a lot done. I have learned it is a process, and accepted that some of it will be done by the next steward of this beautiful place. So excited to see your spring bulbs blooming, it is going to be amazing, and you have inpired me to get mine planted! PS: I am 70, and always enjoy watching your content!
Luck choose you because you were hard working and consistent. Have been following you before the video and feel happy the way you have created your life. Wish you all the prosperity and happiness hhat you want!!!
Well done in finding a partner that aligns with your ideal life. I’m the same, can’t imagine living full time with someone but as yet not found my like minded partner. Thank you for sharing everything on here.
It is nice to hear that another woman also doesn't want to share her space. I enjoy romance and relationship but I love my own personal space too. I think your doing a great job and so what if someone male or female gives you a hand now and then. Some things need two people especially heavy things!
Great video! And same, we moved into our property almost 2 years ago with a large list of what we were going to do . . . . majority still not done as the large financial infrastructure takes precedence over the small fun ones. But one step at a time. x
Nothing about life is one size fits all, and we change throughout our lives. You do you, Marina. You're a vibrant, interesting person with strengths and foibles, as we all have, charting your own path according to what suits you. I find that admirable, particularly for a young woman choosing to do and learn so much on her own.
Very nice path…..the red bushes will be really pretty in the summer, we have followed you do so many projects so well, you are beautiful and very talented ❤
I totally get the seasonal thing and getting outstde, being constructive, getting exercise, all help a lot. No one should dictate how you should live your life, it's yours not theirs.
Hi Marina Thank you for sharing. Its good to know that you have a partner as they are a great help at times when feeling down.I have problems with depression and Ive come to realise that if i didnt have the help and support of my partner i would probably have moved on to another place ( if there is one ) by now. I find your videos very entertaining and am often amazed by what you achieve. I think everyone is different and its best to live your life in a way that suits you best and try not to take too much notice of what other people say. Best wishes from N.E England
It's good to know you have people who are close to you though of course you are right it's nobody's business, but you seem a warm-hearted person and I realise I am happy for you just to know that. I would never have doubted that you are the woman behind the work, either lol Everyone gets to choose their own life or to make the best of what their environment offers them, at least. Mine began with an early child and led to 2 more and a partner of 40 yrs, that led to grandchildren and I'm very happy about that and having my family around me; it means I rely less on friends tbh - and people often think that is weird but it's my choice evolving from my life experience, it doesn't have to apply to anyone else!!
I very much enjoyed this video (I love all of your videos). I have 2 sons, 43 and 44. Both happily married for 12 and 14 years. My younger son has 4 children, my older son and his wife chose not to have children, and both families are happy with their choices. I can’t and never will understand people who assume everyone wants the same lifestyle!
I second the comments of others. Soooo glad to see you are human and not a super power being disguised as a wonderful human being. I love that you shared not only about your personal views on relationships etc. It’s not our business. Let’s be honest. BUT at same time we are curious creatures. And social ones that want to relate to folks we admire. AND phew!!! That walkway and stone wall would take me at least 1-2 years. So I’m dooo relieved to hear you say it wasn’t a weekend project. Now THAT gives me motivation to start on mine - it’s been on my to do list for ohh 3 years 😛. Sending you lots of positive and loving energy for those seasonal blue days. I get it. ❤
15 minute about so - the deer is running in the background!! Thanks for sharing. Now I will feel less miserable when I’m wearing my misery glasses and sending my support when you have next time of clouds- we all have those moments… bet they pass)) Stay strong, sister!
It never occurred to me to doubt you are the one doing the work. You seem strong and capable and I love watching your videos. There's no reason to feel bad about not getting everything done quickly. That is the nature of a house in the country, there always a million projects waiting, things always take longer than expected, the weather can undo any plans, and there is always some new emergency that takes priority 😂 It's the journey not the destination! Plus if you don't rush you may think of a better idea, or find some unexpected stones you can use.
Thanks for an enjoyable and honest video. Sharing your thoughts and values is both brave and helpful. Loved the video but most of all, I loved the big stick for holding up the van door 😊
Thank you Marina!! It's so refreshing to hear someone else talking about traditional paths and not necessarily having to choose the family life! Ive had so much pressure from society telling you 'clock is ticking' it's hard that this is still not accepted! 'What else is a woman suppose to do with her life'! eeeh watch your videos and see how strong woman can be living on their own! needed that today! love from The Netherlands
it's cool to hear that video got you this life. i've got to your channel because of that video and i'm very happy for that, because you waked up so many good stuff inside of me the last few years :) and i really love to make pine needles baskets!! i do not do it often because it takes me forever, but everytime i make one i feel very good about myself, and usually do it as a gift for someone i care, and i remember you and feel grateful. i also liked you brought this subject, because life is really full of surprises, we don't know very well the paths we are walking, it's not a good thing to compare ourselves with other people. what you said reminded me of a song i've been listening to, that says something like "and everything i won only because i lost at the right time/ these paths we don't see" (the name is "caminhos", from Jota Pe, if you would like to hear it - i noticed you like brasilian music :) ). sorry if i made mistakes in english and thanks for your videos :))
Never related more to projects taking far more time to complete than projected. It's usually because of inexperience in my case, but I always feel proud of myself for sticking it through and learning a new skill along the way. Those drone shots were breathtaking wow!
The book that i came across which is also very helpful - about mindfulness - is called Wherever You Go There You Are by Jon Kabat - Zinn which i can recommend. As a person of advanced years something that was once told me by a friend made sense - the mind keeps writing the cheques but the body can't always honour them ! Given what you have achieved in your life so far you should be very satisfied with the outcomes.
Hi 🥰🥰🥰! The GREEN is usually mold & can be rid of very easily. Spray the areas w/White Vinegar (50/50 w/water). Also, if you didn't already know; White Vinegar is a Natural Disinfectant.
Love the opening drone shot with the sheep 🐑♥️ I’m always stressed about money, pressure to buy instead of renting… So thank you Marina. Crazy, I remember this video but so thought your van conversions were you most successful videos and then you got sponsored from external battery brand so I thought that helps. Glad you investment of collection, learning and doing the basket were a success for you! Would you ever consider hosting people at you house? I just think it would be so nice to be able to add some sort of glasses with you (knitting, gardening, jewellery making, etc…) I feel like you’re such a crafted and patient soul I would defo be interested in something like that 🤗
I think it’s just part of the human experience to feel bad some days. We are here to experience a range of emotions not just happiness. The contrasts encourages us to pay attention and make the most of the good times ❤
Your Stairwell is amazing. I would never have guessed that it took three months to complete and now that I know I'm even a little more amazed by it. Your apparent drive to get in at least a little bit over your head with projects and then get 'em actually done is inspirational. Thanks for sharing your homesteading adventures!
When l got my first flat, l thought l would be like god, decorate a room a day and rest on Sunday. Three weeks later my friends peeled me off a ladder crying, half way through room one, took me for a drink, or two. Now l know god laughs at my grand plans. That whatever l think the time it will take, double it and add a year. Cost, treble it and add a nought. You are doing good girl. And suffering from SAD, l just rest in winter, and let everything else go ❤
Hi Marina! So great having a new video from you! As for those bugging you about having kids: that's such a personal matter, really... Me and my partner have also made the decision of not having kids. We're in our late 40s and still don't regret it. We love our life as it is. We're all different and define happiness in many different ways. For some people having kids just isn't their definition of happiness and "feeling complete". P.S. autumn 🍂 looks great in your area! Enjoy this colourful season!
Having struggled with mental health while having my perfect life has been a perplexing issue as well for me. Sometimes I believe a big part of it is some people are very sensitive to the “ways of the world” around us. And yes!! It all seems overwhelming to be alone and have so many projects going. But, who can keep up with us? 😂
The stone steps look amazing!! ❤ As a 35 year old woman who just bought my first house just over a year ago (with help ££) I have just finishing plastering a corner of a wall I demolished over a year ago 😅 so I feel the pain...I kinda like the slow progress cos it's cheaper and when you look back a lot of things have happened, the list just always gets longer. So glad to hear you live alone and love it, exactly the same! So refreshing to hear and i guess it must have been weird to share but thank you cos it's great to hear from other people. Just a great video, thank you! 🙌🏻
Nice work with the solid steps Marina! The heather will look gorgeous once it has bedded in. Also solid - your sense of boundaries and SM - yes, as viewers we love learning about your life and projects, but for your mental health and privacy boundaries are ultra-important. I had to study counselling to understand enough about myself to finally put those in place! Best wishes from Scotland. 🍁🌦🍄
I have loved your videos since you were living in a van in Scotland with sweet Odie! I've always loved how realistic and honest you come across and you are such a delight to hang out with every video. The fact that you don't do projects like a superhuman is a relief, because most often I feel very discouraged when I'm watching someone be hyper productive online and can't help but compare to myself. It makes me happy that you had such a stroke of luck with the pine needle video! You deserve it.
great video! and I would LOVE to hear more of your thoughts. it is very refreshing to listen to them. I think the green on the stones is some sort of algae…
Hi Marina! I would like to say that I really appreciate you sharing more your values lately. I remember you said you were hesitant to do so, as it exposes you to criticism. Today I especially appreciated your transparency regarding how you could purchase your house. We collectively need to hear this more, so that people stop believing in the meritocracy myth. I also relate to your way of living. As a 32yo female, I don’t plan on getting married either, nor having kids, and the way we live our relationship with my partner is also “non-traditional”. It feels great to see people online sharing my values, I think we all need representation and identification somehow. Happy to know you have a partner! It is definitely none of my business, we don’t need to know more, I’m just genuinely happy for you. Lastly, I also suffer from seasonal depression, and adding supplements (Magnesium, D3, and eventually Rhodiola) to my diet from October to March really helped! I started a few years ago and saw a huge improvement. It may be obvious to some, but I personally wish I knew that before, so I’m sharing the info just in case.
You are like some friends I have , I only Hear from them every month or so, they don’t bore me by calling everyday , rather call after a months time when we have something new to talk about!!😊💕 love this. I too came to similar conclusions at your age and I have NEVER regretted my choices, though many , mostly family , don’t “get it”. Be you, you’re lovely 🌻💪🏼😊
Hi. I’m in my 70’s now and have always been hard working & resourceful like you. It was especially rare when I was your age & younger to even see women in a hardware store, etc.. I love to be able to do, fix, build; so many things. Go girl!!😅
Evening Marina, Firstly thank you for sharing, those of us that have ben with you for the long haul know how hard to have and continue to work hard for what you have are are achieving. Not only doing your travels, or your projects but also being a creator and business owner, this all takes up time, so no I don't think you should be so hard on yourself for not getting as much done as you wish, you juggle alot of things all the time and we get to share all your great content and your hopes and dreams along the way which is very nice to watch. P.S. Hope your head is feeling better after the little bump on the boot door. Health@Happiness to you.
Thank you sooo much for this video! Really helps me to put things into perspective, which I often forget. No matter where you are, you bring your problems with you, I experienced this too the last years and that's why I'm back to where I've grown up, to begin new things from here ! I stop running away, and it feels quite good actually :). But this vid helped me to remember I'm not alone and even the people who seem to be more successful than me, have their own meltdowns. Anyway, I'm really happy to follow you, I feel attracted to your way of life and it gives me hope about my own future!
Im so happy you got the stones. Many a times God has strange ways to give us what we need 😅 And i too came to your channel from pine needle video😊. Love your content.

I'm happy you are living your true self. You be you and enjoy your life. Don't even listen to any negative comments. Thank you for your videos ❤
People forget that social media only shows a snippet of someone’s life. And it’s always what they WANT to show. Keep doing what you’re doing!

judgmentcallpodcast covers this. Opening up about personal issues.
You're awesome, Marina. Don't ever feel the need to change!
Your stonework turned out really well. You should be proud.
I feel the same way, you dont have to divulge your personal life, or certain choices you make. Thanks for the videos, I always enjoy them!

Thanks for your honesty!
I’m totally with you on so many things:
Seasonal sadness
Not wanting kids (I’m female)

This video is why I love you and your channel. Continue to be yourself and do what you want.
It’s important to know what your boundaries are and enforce them. I’m just learning this. You don’t owe us anything.
Yes indeed about boundaries, I didn't have any, so had to learn how to cultivate some.

Hi Marina, I've always loved your channel & thank you for your honesty. I think your stone path turned out great & will look beautiful in the spring 😊
Thank you for your vulnerability and transparency, I really enjoy knowing there's people like you out there.

Just be you, I still watch your Scottish video, it's so inspiring!! Xxx
Wow I'm really impressed about how you managed to build out such a versatile van!
I’m with you, animals not kids 🥰
Great video! And same, we moved into our property almost 2 years ago with a large list of what we were going to do . . . . majority still not done as the large financial infrastructure takes precedence over the small fun ones. But one step at a time. x
Good for you for choosing to be private about some things. It’s v refreshing!
I absolutely love stonework. Paths, steps, bridges 🥰 love em all.
Big hug from Northern England🇬🇧 I’m child free and love it- each to their own❤
I totally get the seasonal thing and getting outstde, being constructive, getting exercise, all help a lot. No one should dictate how you should live your life, it's yours not theirs.
I'm just back from three weeks in Italy, and I'm seriously thinking of moving there. What a glorious place! 😘
I love your dog....and that stone path is lovely. Thanks for sharing.
Been watching this channel way back in the beginning of Pam Van, you have always been calm and authentic in your videos
Hi Marina
Thank you for sharing.
I always feel so happy when I watch your videos. I really appreciate you sharing your life with us. ❤
Yay for the pine needle basket video! That is how I found you a couple of years ago!
Thank you for sharing so much of yourself. Have a fantastic and cozy fall/winter
I loved this video with your honest thoughts. For me it doesn't even matter what you shoot I always love to see your videos. Thank you. ❤
Thank you for charing all this information. You are a wise woman and think it is your live and your world.
I get it. ❤
Ahh....the pine needle basket. I feel it needs a song! 🎸 😁
👏you’re a a lovely human! Not many around these days. It’s so good knowing there are people like you in this world.
15 minute about so - the deer is running in the background!!
Thanks for sharing. Now I will feel less miserable when I’m wearing my misery glasses and sending my support when you have next time of clouds- we all have those moments… bet they pass))
Stay strong, sister!
We should be privileged to of been granted so much about your private life lass. I and most just wish you a ton of happiness. Thanks for sharing!
Exactly, we serve no purpose other than child rearing 😂 what else could we possibly find fulfilment in? 🤦🏻♀️
My favorite video so far 🌻thank you for opening up
it's cool to hear that video got you this life. i've got to your channel because of that video and i'm very happy for that, because you waked up so many good stuff inside of me the last few years :) and i really love to make pine needles baskets!! i do not do it often because it takes me forever, but everytime i make one i feel very good about myself, and usually do it as a gift for someone i care, and i remember you and feel grateful. i also liked you brought this subject, because life is really full of surprises, we don't know very well the paths we are walking, it's not a good thing to compare ourselves with other people. what you said reminded me of a song i've been listening to, that says something like "and everything i won only because i lost at the right time/ these paths we don't see" (the name is "caminhos", from Jota Pe, if you would like to hear it - i noticed you like brasilian music :) ). sorry if i made mistakes in english and thanks for your videos :))
I looove your honesty
Hi 🥰🥰🥰! The GREEN is usually mold & can be rid of very easily. Spray the areas w/White Vinegar (50/50 w/water). Also, if you didn't already know; White Vinegar is a Natural Disinfectant.
I love your channel/you could try pouring boiling water on your steps it stoped mine from being green!lol
Great stuff. Be yourself, keep in your zone.
Love the opening drone shot with the sheep 🐑♥️
I’m always stressed about money, pressure to buy instead of renting… So thank you Marina.
Great path you made. Hard work 💪 gone into it. Enjoyed your vids. Hope you're keeping on top of slugs 😀 they are starting to disappear for the winter
And suffering from SAD, l just rest in winter, and let everything else go ❤
😂😂😂 I need those friends
As a 35 year old woman who just bought my first house just over a year ago (with help ££) I have just finishing plastering a corner of a wall I demolished over a year ago 😅 so I feel the pain...I kinda like the slow progress cos it's cheaper and when you look back a lot of things have happened, the list just always gets longer.
So glad to hear you live alone and love it, exactly the same! So refreshing to hear and i guess it must have been weird to share but thank you cos it's great to hear from other people.
Just a great video, thank you! 🙌🏻
💪💪💪 we got this!
Just found your channel..can I just send you a big hug...that dog is so beautiful
Thanks for this video and I hope you keep well through the winter.
You're human too, so enjoy watching knowing about your life, Eric Dale.
if one is spiritually nourished, one will be contented and mentally still
Nice work with the solid steps Marina!
Thanks for always being so real Marina!
I never thought that a man is behind all the work you do!
Please give a name to your mansion❤
Its your love, your hard work, belief, freedom, peace and mych more.
Many a times God has strange ways to give us what we need 😅
And i too came to your channel from pine needle video😊.
Love your content.
I used to get seasonal depression so bad it's really awful it's not so bad now.
You are such a beautiful soul, Marina!!
