Hello, lingq's support team is wonderful and are always listening for improvements to lingq. In your menu under captions, there's autotranslate for 16 languages.
Lingq is a great tool ❤ used it for years. I think if you just want to read without all the bells and whistles Vocab Tracker is also good and it’s free. Though it lacks some major languages Portuguese is probably the biggest missing language considering it has Italian.
When I was studying French and importing videos, there were so many errors in the transcription that I decided to just use what was already available. All in all though, it's a great resource.
I had a good experience with the video I imported, but I believe Steve has also mentioned that it's not 100% accurate, when captions/script etc are missing. However, I've found it to be pretty good and if not, there are lots of already transcribed videos and podcasts on LingQ - so I get what you mean.
@@PolyglotSecrets her final hours were full of pain and fear, not what i had hoped for. but you cannot control everything, some things just happen. difficult to cope with, though.
I’ve been studying Portuguese for over 8.5 years now but I still can’t read or converse. I’ve visited Brazil 18 times and I’ve been practicing every day with my girlfriend who only speaks Portuguese and we’ve been practicing for over 5.5 years now but I still can’t understand her. There is no input that I can understand. How do I begin to understand without translating everything into English to understand?
Amigo, I have been learning Portuguese for 3 months now on LingQ. I'm far from fluent, but my reading and listening skills have come a long way. You should give it a try.
@@thatmusicalex I’ve tried it but didn’t understand what it was supposed to do. I read something I didn’t understand and it said that I now knew those words. I can’t read or converse yet. I need to find a way to learn so I don’t have to translate everything into English word by word like I do now.
If you click next, it might wrongly categorize some words as known. I think that's what happened, when you used LingQ. Other than that, exposure and comprehensible input truly are the way to go. Perhaps try LingQ again, find some good shows on the streaming platforms, find good books, podcasts etc - immerse yourself as much as possible. Having a girlfriend that speaks Portuguese can also certainly help with that. Surround yourself with the language as much as possible. Trust me, the approach used in school does not work - using input and stories tends to be a great approach though. P.S. Check out the video I did on my method for more details, if you are interested in how I learn a language: ua-cam.com/video/_vXJj0dTKzk/v-deo.html I have used Easy Languages and Speaking Brazilian for Portuguese - both are great channels to learn.
@@PolyglotSecrets thanks, I’ve used those channels too. I can’t find any comprehensible input though because I can’t understand anything yet. So what should I do instead? I have to translate everything into English to understand but I usually can’t make out what people are saying. It’s frustrating because I’ve tried a lot of different things to learn. I haven’t been able to learn vocabulary without having to translate everything into English. That makes reading and understanding spoken words difficult. Thanks

LingQ is probably the best tool out there for language learners.

It sounds like your relationship is solid, so I'd leave things as they are 😉
