On this episode Rhonda arrives to Triteia to move aboard full-time and we waste no time getting out and exploring Sydney Harbour. We left Rushcutters Bay and headed to Stores Bay to explore the near by Quarantine Station

Alberg 30 is a proven world crosser. In 2015 I was finalizing the sale of 1967 Alberg 30 on Lake Superior when I got the cancer diagnosis. Been a long 8 1/2 year battle but I’m still here and just found some pictures of the old girl while I was cleaning and inspecting. Sail on folks. 😊

Don't forget Rhonda, that Manly is well known as a Rugby League city. Btw I'm sure I heard a tui just as you arrived in that little bay.. Or was it my imagination.? Um I guess it's my imagination. Luckily you've arrived at the start of winter, so most of the snakes etc are hibernating, so I guess it's OK to run around barefoot. Again thank you for sharing your adventures. Ah my old stomping ground. I spent many a night anchored at Spring Cove. Great spot.
Its a pity that the sun wasn't out and the surf up, when you were in Manly, as its a great beach in the summer.

Hi James.. I always stay at store beach when I go to Sydney.. it's beautiful..and there's a penguin colony there...I met you in Woolworth at Nelson Bay.

You're probably too far north now, but Pittwater is the real gem in the sydney area. Sooo much to explore-- but don't tell anyone, they'll all want to come. Also, in NSW, watch out for the water police pulling you over for not wearing a lifejacket in the dinghy. If there is one of you in the dinghy you have to wear a life jacket-- it is not enough to have one in the dinghy-- over $100 fine! I know, I got one! Phil

Lovely couple of days, I envy you sleeping on the harbour. There are a lot of stories of the Quarantine Station being haunted. Shame that its almost winter already.

Have to give you credit James, I’m sure that last leg of your journey would have been better with Rhonda on board, but you have integrity to your original goal. Sailing that entire distance solo. Many would have folded thinking it would be nothing to have part of your journey with someone else… you didn’t. You accomplished your SOLO journey as planned. Well done mate!

Solo sailing isn’t worse or better, it’s simply different. I do not believe the last three years of my life where lacking because I was single, I was happy and content being alone. This is a new chapter of life with another person and it’s wonderful to share this life with someone you love but it does not mean my previous chapter was “not as good” it was just something different than this new chapter.
@@SailorJamesthis cannot be overstated. I’ve found that when I’m most content is when something (or someone…) appears in my life to make a good thing even better.

In your vlog ..Niagara was a passenger ship that struck a German mine off the whangarei coast inn ww2...must be same ship??..coincidentally the Niagara is in news here this week as it's hull is breaking up and their is a fuel spillage concern...reading back my first comment defo a lack of punctuation and a clear description..lol

Manly has always been a bit over-rated.
Man I just found your channel and I just want to thank you for giving me some hope. I’m 37yrs old and spent my life working in offices with little to show for it. So many channels like this are people ~10 years younger than me living their dreams and it always makes me feel like I missed my chance. I’ve always been drawn to the ocean but grew up in the Midwest and now live in the AZ desert… so the impossible dream still sort of feels… well.. impossible.
I have so many questions about how you did this, I still don’t understand how someone can afford to maintain this for months or years at a time without going back to a job at some point. I have an incredible urge to just quit my job and spend all I have saved towards something like this.
Anyway thanks again just for showing me that there’s still a chance! I hope I can make my 40s as incredible as yours have been.

I’m still curious what you did for work before making this life change, did you grow up near a coast in LA? I feel like just living near a coast is damn near unattainable these days. I make ~70k a year which used to be decent but now I can’t even afford a mortgage.
