+CantStayAway You should watch him on the (now cancelled) series "Resurrection". He was absolutely brilliant on that series. Totally made me forget that he played Red Foreman.
actually based on how red views eric as a wimp with wimpy problems, we can assume that red has similar responses whenever eric needs his help or advice
My dad was a hardass too. And I grew up into a hardass too. And I understand that it's just our way. If we didn't care we wouldn't bother at all with you
If you saw it too much it loses meaning, that is what Dad's usually say. It's not fake, if you make him proud he will say it otherwise saying it means nothing.
My dad was a hard ass too....and I grew up to understand why! He was ALWAYS there to help, even when he was mad at me, those that constantly said, "I love you"...were not.
The episode where Red reads Kitty's erotic books uses the set also. And when Hyde moves out of Eric's room (season 1 or 2) and is looking for a place to put his bedframe he briefly comes in there as well.
Yep it's there 3 or 4 times, not much. The room is located behind where the staircase is. There's a door from the kitchen leading there, as well as from the living room (between the staircase and the front door). Well obviously it's not ACTUALLY there as it's a set, but that's where I always imagined it to be. That same area also has a nice dining room with a big table which is also only used a few times -- the kitchen side probably has the dining room stuff (biggest room), and the adjacent room is on the living room/front door side.
english is not my first language but here it is. red said "its a given" means its implied and doesnt have to said explicitly. so, eric taking that as a "red loves me but doesnt say it because its implied and doesnt have to said out " says "be my date"
@utluvr I don't know if anyone already answere you, but here goes. Red said that "It's a given" which means that even though he doesn't say it out loud, he does love him.
@@RonJohn63 Don't forget Red fought two wars overseas against communism while tops Al could make for himself was to be high school football star, whatever that means.
The party in the pilot episode, Hyde finding a place to sleep in the house (eventually discovering the room in the basement), that time when Red read Kitty's erotic novel, the tour for house-buyers in the last season, etc.
@slashmankasper1 I think it was also in the show, when Red was reading at the end of one of the episodes. he was reading one of Kittys novels about " Master Bates" :D :D
I would have loved to have a dad like red.... I would have loved to have a dad... well, one that didn't stab me when i was 6 and die when I was 8 anyway.
Kurtwood Smith should've gotten an Emmy for this show...the poor man was robbed.
He was awesome as Red. Very good actor. And funny.
+Greenguy4301 I think he got a lot of recognition from fans like us.
+CantStayAway You should watch him on the (now cancelled) series "Resurrection". He was absolutely brilliant on that series. Totally made me forget that he played Red Foreman.
+drlee2 Ah yeah I watched that show. Sucks that it got cancelled
Even if he's a hard ass in his own way, Red shows gestures of fatherly love...
gotta love red. his first response of his son needing his help: "oh crap"
SmashLiXs LMAO!!!
SmashLiXs well he already knew what Eric wanted to talk about that's why he said it
actually based on how red views eric as a wimp with wimpy problems, we can assume that red has similar responses whenever eric needs his help or advice
When Eric had his birthday and his parents walked into his room:
"Good morning, son.
Happy birthday.
Go and mow the lawn."
I love that Red drops the shoe brush when he realizes what he's done xDD
"Daddy, be my valentine!"
"Do I have to hit you? Go to your room!" xD
Im surprised that he didn't say "Do i have to put my foot in your ass?"
Oh
Meaning: I love you too son, but get the hell outta here before my foot goes up your ass!
Best part is when Eric leaves after his joke and you can see Red cracking a smile
Red may hate it when Eric is being a smart ass, but even he has a sense of humor
Kurtwood Smith is absolute gold in this show. Red Forman is without a doubt the best sitcom father.
"Daddy, be my valentine!"
"Do I have to hit you?!"
pure awsomeness!!!
I think Eric was Trolling Red a little
I loved Red's smile at the end. And when he asked do I have to hit you
"its just a GIVEN" means that it is just something that is known or should be known and remain unspoken. ;)

I love the slight smile as he tries not to break character at the end
I think Red Forman's way of saying "I love you" is by saying "Go to your room"
Kurtwood Smith has always been a kick ass actor
He's the best.
Hard to see good actors like he today
"Clearly I'm drunk!"
What a phrase to get out of things.
Well I'm drunk! Clearly I'm drunk! LMAO!
"The Philosophy of Red Foreman"...
There's a book I'm waiting to buy!!!
Is this the only instance in the entire show where that set is used? I can't think of any other time that room appeared.
I'm not sure but I think there might be another episode as well.
The episode where Red reads Kitty's erotic books uses the set also. And when Hyde moves out of Eric's room (season 1 or 2) and is looking for a place to put his bedframe he briefly comes in there as well.

That why he thought he be save hiding back there.
When Kitty was showing the house when they were thinking of going to Florida they showed it as well.
That den Red is sat in is SOOOH cool! Every married bloke should have a little nook like THAT in his house!!
This is my Dads philosophy on saying "I love you" lmfao
Red is the best soothsayer that ever showed up on a TV show. short, to the point and...well, to the point.
Red is a sweetheart. I love him!!
i miss this show!! the 70s rocked!!

red said "its a given" means its implied and doesnt have to said explicitly. so, eric taking that as a "red loves me but doesnt say it because its implied and doesnt have to said out " says "be my date"
LOL, I forgot to say I love also that horrified expression on Red's face when Eric notes him about what he "kinda just told" him. :'D

I always wondered why i liked Bill Bur so much right away, then i remembered watching Red all my young life. Now it all make sense.
Kurtwood Smith is so good as an actor.
1. Topher Grace needs to play Pistol Pete Maravich in the biopic.
2. Red Forman is the closest we will ever get to Al Bundy.
the Bundys and Foreman's are pretty similar except red loves his wife.
You,cant be more right. Topher looks exactly like Pete.

LOL,Red is so funny!
You know I gotta agree with reds rules on when to say love, I basically went by those rules anyway
Red foreman wouldn’t turned me into a GI JOE instead of a Jedi if he was my dad
I’ve watched this show beginning to end 3 times and have never seen that room entered before
Fun Fact:
Did you know Red Foreman taught Sun Tsu how to write "The Art of War?"
Funny how this is getting recommended two weeks before Valentine's Day
Red Rules
Kurtwood Smith is the best. Made this show 10x better
The first and last time you’ll ever see that room of the house. Seriously, I can’t remember an episode besides this one that I’ve seen it.
Why are neither of these actors in TV shows or movies anymore?
The party in the pilot episode, Hyde finding a place to sleep in the house (eventually discovering the room in the basement), that time when Red read Kitty's erotic novel, the tour for house-buyers in the last season, etc.
WELL then I'm DRUNK!! ahahahahaha!
OK, rerun required.
Could you imagine John C Mcginley (Dr Cox) in this role? Man :D
this is the greatest channel
Best comedy show character of all time
ROFLLMAO!!! xDDD I LOVE those two.
It's funny but I'm glad my dad always told me he loved me
Me:I love you dad
Dad:Go mow the yard
They're hilarious 😂
I am exacly the same way like Red
my dad in a nutshell
Omg... this is my dad!!
@slashmankasper1 I think it was also in the show, when Red was reading at the end of one of the episodes. he was reading one of Kittys novels about " Master Bates" :D :D
There was totally an earlier episode where they both said I love you and it was totally casual
daddy be my valentine lol
Love means never having to say it.
Reds never wrong
Thank God my father was an well educated, Christian, and loving person.
...was *"a"* well educated man, not *"an"* ... still, at least *HE* was educated...!
Eric was right. Red DID just tell him he loved him. And if Eric had left it alone, he'd have been fine. But he just had to poke the bear.
Daddy? Will you be my valentine?! XD
hailey1491 lmao
Do I have to hit u?
Now go to your room.
They never use that room lol
Cant a man shine his shoes in peace?!
You have to wonder how Wally and the Beaver would have turned out under Red Foremen's watch.
Probably wouldn't have wound up suckered by Eddie Haskle all the time.
"It's just a gibbon."
@slashmankasper1 and in the end of the series when in one of the last episodes Kitty shows the rooms to the people who want to buy the house
More and more I’m turning into red 😂
Great...You are very cool
I aspire to be this good a father.
he is at the bottom of the only staircase, how is he hiding?
Red is the best
I think Red read one of Kitty's books back there.
So staged. and absolutely brilliant,,
perfect
Who watched this again just because it was in THAT room?
This is the first time he didn't used the ''ass'' word😂
I’ve never seen that part of the house
1:02 Eric: Daddy, Be My Valentine

they never show this room on the show!
My dad told me that love is just another 4 letter word
it was on the very first episode!!!!!!!!

Only time you tell a man you love him. When your Drunk. Dying.... Drunk and Dying....
I love you Red Forman. Yes.. I'm drunk......
