This song is bad-ass in many ways, but I'm not quite sure 'evolution', a word implying positive change, is the right word to use. This album is simply quite different from their previous albums, donning a noticeably grimmer and heavier sound that i must say i have trouble getting into, except for this track and 'skin game'. There's this 'sameness ' in song structure and melodic progression across a lot of the tracks from this album, in contrast with 'is the is are', a record that I find exciting, more accessible and have purchased multiple copies for myself and my friends. I'd say that the overall sound of an album changes with the phase that the artiste is currently undergoing and the themes they wish to portray with the album.
@@lequinntessential interesting view man!! but yeah im just saying that this plays slightly different from their previous records and thats hey, its a pretty good record. (wasn't out when i wrote orginal comment) But yeah maybe you're right critiquing my use of the word "evolve". I think a more appropriate word would have been "progressing" maybe?
@@tuckend pardon me - I'm a huge sucker for semantics 😂 I'm sure some people would find the charm of a kitten more endearing than that of a fully grown cat, an entity that has 'progressed', or vice versa. I like the older music of Feist or Caribou better, yet I prefer Tame Impala's newer releases than their older albums. The work put out by people will always change, but one's tastes may not.
In any other band a chorus like that would EXPLODE but they don't raise the volume too much. Whether it's due to the singer having soft vocals or just their taste, it's definitely a unique way to release the tension of their verse

I've always wanted to say that Oshin felt like a spiritual experience for me. Driving anywhere, at a high volume, it felt ethereal, surreal, effulgent, dreamlike yet grounding, full of wonder and hope.
Since Oshin, your music accompanied me through so many painful and happy memories. So excited for new album, i know it will help too. Great song. Best band! Love from İstanbul.
As a structure, this song has a stronger, more definite attitude. It adds an atmosphere similar to that of certain songs from the first albums (Earthboy, Yr Not Far), but still the aesthetics of the two songs from the upcoming one remains. In short: love it
So happy you guys are putting out new stuff. I just hit a year sober and have struggled with heroin for 10 years and Oshin and Is She Is Are got me thru so many really really tough times. Love you guys and your music so much
Really dig this band and this song in particular. Those dissonant notes on bridge from 1:00 - 1:22 (and again at the end) are awesome - something tells me they've been listening to old Sonic Youth records.
I never noticed until I saw them live last weekend (in Berlin) that Blankenship sometimes sounds SO RADIOHEAD from the OK Computer era, especially the guitar riff solo and the drum roll that preceeds. Even the way it ends it's so Radiohead as well lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Anyway love DIIV even more after the concert, they gave a fantastic show. Hope they come back soon
This is fucking Incredible, you are all fucking Incredible. please come to Texas after this whole C thing finally fucks off proper. As that would be.. Incredible.
I’ll be a fan of DIIV for the rest of my life. Oshin and Is the Is Are are classics. Is the is Are is my favorite of the two. What I’ve heard so far isn’t on the level of the previous two albums (yet), but I will be purchasing it nonetheless to really get a gauge. Fuck streaming. My favorite bands get my real money and support. PLEASE COME TO SALT LAKE CITY.
Yep especially in the end. Feels like this will be a defining alt album, because we're basically entering the 20's now. Holy hell I can't wait to see what that decade of music will being to us.
Saw them live in vegas literally right after they released the album and may i say this song rocked hella people were moshin and the song just came out. Great fucking band with great fucking music!

SABORRRRR
they have evolved appropriately, that’s rare for bands nowadays

I just want to note how strangely refreshing it was to read a pleasant/respectful disagreement in a UA-cam comments section, good job fellas
Matt Clark ^ i concur
You gotta be honest this is an underrated masterpiece
Yup
Amazing song I used to listen to it when I used to live next to the world one trade center.
Very underrated band tbh
It sure is just like Doused
Its fantastic! Just randomly heard on a local university station. Best music I’ve heard in a long while.
Diiv is the type of band that makes u want to start a band. Good shit
Less dreamy, more post-punk vibe. Really love it!!
more kraut than post punk (?
I would hope the song is not dreamy considering the lyrical content lol
Yeah not post punk
Fantastic album…. And they’re getting better and better
@@cannatacrisjust like Shoegaze predecessor Ride….their starting point has always been basically that plus The Beatles
That Bass Tone ! Come on ! 👏👏👌🤘
This songs literally perfect

It's 100% a matter of taste, nowadays you can mix everyone to be loud :)
DIIV has always preferred an interesting dynamic range for their music. It works really well for them.
LYRICS:
Armageddon is a product
And one we choose to buy
Dwell on that for a moment
With Paradise on fire
I guess it's all the way
Blankenship
Children lead the cry
You sold them all away
Blankenship
With thirty years of lies
Who sold us the dominion
Over swine that smell their knife
The vicious creature thin and dying
On a scrap of melting ice
The Earth is ownerless
Blankenship
Children lead the cry
You sold them all away
Blankenship
With thirty years of lies
I should have treated you better
Blankenship
The lives you weaponize
You sold them all away
Blankenship
With silver-plated eyes
Think of your sons and daughters
Laid in ashen water
Sirens louder and louder
Destroy those who destroy the Earth
Bishkek,Kyrgyzstan,i dont think there are people in my country except me,who listen to this masterpiece
The breakdown gives me chills every time. Diiv are getting better and better.
Same. Reminds me of boys against girls. They do that "heavy but danceable" riff style so well.
He looks so healthy omg I’m so proud I love the new look and sound
Loving the new Diiv project so far.
That roaring guitar run after the bridge is on point. Welcome back DIIV!
This song really has the DIIV DNA

This is probably the only moment in my life that I wish could last an eternity.

Thx Gustavo, that’s fucking tite.
@@colincaulfield1527 Thanks to you for the dope music. Love yall ✌️
Adding some Sonic Youth vibe is a good fit for your music. We'll see with the full album...
The album is in line with this sound, everything sounds dirtier and more raw than before. I had a listen.
My thoughts exactly. Sonic Youth from the Rather Ripped era. Awesome 👏🏻
So happy you guys are putting out new stuff. I just hit a year sober and have struggled with heroin for 10 years and Oshin and Is She Is Are got me thru so many really really tough times. Love you guys and your music so much
Awesome I love bedroom
Yagari ❤
probably the healthiest Cole has looked since he was a kid playing with Beach Fossils.
happy for the guy! their sound has evolved.
he looks straight edge now lol
he's a #humanoshin

don't you #followdiiv ?
He looks more like an addict now that he is clean
@@yanthetrooper67 nah
I love the 90's Vibe in this song. But in somehow, is sounds really modern. Thats great.
I'm so hyped for this album!!!!
I love listening Diiv while I'm running in afternoon! Perfect
"Destroy those who destroy the Earth" -- Yes. Let's do this thing!
Super fresh new sound , can’t wait to hear the rest of the new album !!!!

This has been on my playlist all during lock down - such a great track with many layers!
Wow amazing song
Heard that masterpiece yesterday at Depeche Mode opening in Montreal. I love it!!
Really dig this band and this song in particular. Those dissonant notes on bridge from 1:00 - 1:22 (and again at the end) are awesome - something tells me they've been listening to old Sonic Youth records.

Indianapolis Colts kicker Rodrigo Blankenship bought me here. Such a fitting tribute song for him!
sincerly i love this band so much as i love my country
the Age Of t-shirt is something
Deep Deers glad they’re repping. In terms of sensitivity to sound maybe they’ve taken hints
Perhaps, opn and diiv collab? I'm more of Tim Hecker fan tho
That was a huge "fuck yeah" for me. Big 0pn fan, big DIIV fan--this is good news all around
The way he says “Blank. En. Ship.” cracks me up for some reason 😆

The reverb is on the vocals….great song
This is so much more clear-headed than the soupiness of Is the Is Are. I love that rekkid but damn, this cuts right through all the haze. Love it.

There's a lot of great indie out still but it's great to see a heavyweight like this
