That's how I feel when I listen to i only said. That song, in particular, is supposed to convey what you are describing (nostalgia of a love that never happened). If I had to be honest, the entirety of loveless is that way in my opinion, and when the album ends off with the song soon, it is when the main character realizes that the nostalgic feelings they were having weren't really real and they want to move on and actually feel true love rather than nostalgic love that isn't real. I believe that's why the album was named loveless. Kevin Shields is an amazing musician and loveless is my favorite album ever.

The first time I heard this song I had a bad cold. I stumbled out my room when my dad said dinner was ready, and heard the little hook of this song playing while I fixed myself a bowl of food. Now every time I listen to it, I remember that moment, my dad has introduced me to a lot of my favorite songs and this is among one of them, it’s one of his favorites too. We’ve always been quite connected in our music taste.

This film made me depressed. Made me realise how much of my life I've wasted away when I could of been out having fun instead I stayed in rotting away. Interesting how perspectives are from person to person while watching something as simple as a film. Like art in that sense, depending on life experiences and personality will change what that person takes away from it

When you sleep is a song about the melancholy of the inevitable end of a relationship and clinging to it even when it primarily harbors pain, but it’s also about cycle and the necessity of letting go. Even if you have no relation to the story being told, the emotions resemble something recognizable to everyone. It’s incredibly compelling to see these broad scenarios describe such complex and specific human feelings.
