15:40 you could call turn player priority during draw phase to use d.d crow to avoid dust shoot. It’s a small thing, but definitely could make a difference.
You can't just retroactively call priority to do an action after something has occurred, and if both players are properly communicating he would have had to at least implicitly pass priority via declaring phases anyway. If you had no intention of using the card with priority there and then try to claim you were going to, any judge is going to see that as sharking at best and straight up cheating (which it is) at worst. If you're claiming he should have just immediately used the crow before the opponent had the opportunity to flip a trap, there was no real reason to in that scenario, as it only played around the 1-of dustshoot and that was the least impactful backrow the opponent could have in that scenario. So you're either advocating for cheating or advocating for making a bad play that makes no sense.
The video title was that he wants to master tengu format in 3 weeks. all i am saying is that is something to keep in mind if you havent seen a dustshoot. At the top levels of play, every bit of knowlege is important.
@@batsmak2506 So to be fair, his opponent didn't even give him an iota of time to consider priority and just flipped the Dustshoot as he was drawing. It's hard to even say at that point, if he *was* thinking about using it with prio to avoid a Dustshoot, but just got cut off by his opponent not giving him the time. In this case I don't think he was even thinking about it, so yeah like the other says it's just a thing to think about for the future

I'm very excited to FTK everyone using Royal Magical Library at this event. Edison and Tengu Plant players better be good enough to 2-0 the rest of the team since with a near 85% success rate, I'm feeling pretty good about my odds of hitting a Fire Blast when needed. Then again if other players decide to tryhard I might be in danger.
Honestly imo by hat most of the point of even playing retro yugioh is gone (aside from specifically picking up nostalgic decks). Even tengu pushes it with the hand traps and one card extra deck monsters that require no set up. It’s my pet theory as to why neither have taken off like goat or Edison yet. Might as well play modern as they’ve already got all the trappings of it.
I played Karakuri Machina Plant during this format, and I definitely felt at the time that the deck had crazy potential. Having access to turn 1 Naturia Beast + interrupts going first or an FTK going second while losing minimal resources is as close to modern yu-gi-oh as it gets.
You should try out piper chaos. I think the deck has a pretty strong tengu plant matchup since you have strong outs to thunder king in tragoedia and creature swap, and then the rest of the engine cooks basically the rest of the deck
I have no idea what mbt is basing that statement on. Gage might be good (who knows) but I don’t think he’s even competed in any recorded Edison events, certainly none I’ve seen.

The plant cards are unironically the worst cards in the tengu deck. I’d rather play a lower to the ground strategy with multiple spirit reaper, triple caius, and a bulkier trap lineup
Maxx "C" isn't balanced in any format. I understand people scared of one card wombo combo decks but the solution is balancing the banlist to make these decks less appealing, not a handtrap you draw 1 out of every 3 games that forces everyone to play all the available counters, like Ash, cross out designator, and called by the grave (in the case of MD), even if they are not good in the format otherwise. The only thing Maxx "C" does is hurt creativity at deck building.

So from the 3 duels from this, tengu plant is just a more “modern” version of DM era yugioh being EXTREMELY slow and boring. Yeah, why tf do people even like these formats, let alone PLAY them
to me it seems like most of the tension isnt in whats been played, but what HASNT been played yet there's a whole Thing about figuring out when you should use each card, and trying to figure out what cards your opponent has in their hand/set rather than just "throw out your whole combo turn one and put out interruption to stop their combo", you have to choose when to play everything, since every card you have does something, and every card your opponent has is a potential heavy storm, or dark hole, or gorz, or (you get the idea)
