  • 2022-2023 Chevy Silverado, a significantly updated version of the brand’s best-selling truck and one that offers customers more choices, more technology and more premium touches.
New for 2022 is the first-ever Silverado ZR2, Chevy’s new flagship off-road truck and the latest addition to a successful lineup of off-road, factory-installed lifted trucks.
The enhanced 2022 Silverado also features an elevated exterior design and a new, expressive interior with enhanced technology. Changes include a 13.4-inch-diagonal touchscreen standard on LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ and High Country and available Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology with trailering on High Country. Also new for 2022 is an enhanced, stronger version of the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine that offers more torque than any base engine in its class.
The first-ever Silverado ZR2 drives into the flagship position of Chevy Trucks’ factory-lifted off-road lineup, offering race-proven off-road performance customers can buy right from the showroom floor. The ZR2 brings together a premium interior, immersive technology, a number of standard safety equipment features and off-road prowess in a comprehensive package.
ZR2’s suspension upgrades, enhanced off-road technology and exterior enhancements were developed to optimize off-road performance and capability - whether desert running or rock crawling - while balancing everyday driving comfort and supporting comparable payload and trailering capability to other Silverado off-road trims. ZR2 max payload is 1,440 pounds and the conventional trailer weight rating is 8,900 pounds.
    ZR2 highlights include:
Standard 6.2L V-8 engine, delivering 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission
Silverado-first application of Multimatic 40mm DSSV spool-valve dampers, which feature:
Three separate spool valves to control damping
Three connected chambers for fluid flow
Uniquely-tuned springs that, with the Multimatic dampers, increase maximum front and rear suspension travel, compared to the Silverado Trail Boss
    Front and rear e-lockers
Specific off-road chassis and suspension calibrations, including Terrain Mode, which allows one-pedal rock crawling
    Specific 33-inch off-road MT tires
    Unique skid plate package
New high-approach steel front bumper designed for off-road strength, durability and clearance that enables an improved 31.8-degree approach angle compared to other Silverado off-road models
The bumper is designed with removable end caps for easier replacement in the event of close encounters with rocks or other off-road objects. The dual exhaust has been placed before the rear bumper to eliminate potential damage.
The enhanced 2022 Silverado will be the first Chevy pickup offered with available Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver-assistance technology for compatible roads. It is available on Silverado High Country and can be used on more than 200,000 miles (320,000 km) of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.

GM both Chevrolet and GMC) truck designers and engineers continue, year after year to "drop the ball" in numerous ways! Actually, they do some stupid stuff and it is quite PATHETIC!!!
First, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 use to be an excellent engine platform until GM cut costs and installed cheap and weak lifters (major problem now) and connecting rods. Seems they are having parts made in C - H - I - N - A!!! Big "Class Action Lawsuit" on the 8L45 and 8L90 transmissions.
Second, the 1500 ZR2 should roll off the assembly line with 285/75R-18 (35 inch) Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires as standard equipment and 37 inch tires available as an option.
Third, The Chevrolet 1500 ZR2 is a BIG BLUNDER on the aesthetic details!!! This truck has minimal RED accents on the exterior and YELLOW stitching on the interior. The stitching on the seats, door panels and dash should be RED. Moreover, the truck would look much better with BODY COLOR Front and Rear Bumpers; Bowtie (Flowtie) in the middle of the grille and remove the horizontal lines in the top of the grille; RED Bowties on the rim center caps; RED 6.2L on the hood; BLACK and RED ZR2 (Black ZR and Red 2) on the front fenders. To say it a different way...REMOVE ALL of the CHROME details and replace with Red and Black.
Fourth, end on TWO POSITIVE NOTES: 1. Big Thumbs Up on the e-Lockers in the front and rear differentials! 2. Starting with the 2019 Chevrolet trucks, finally ROUND WHEEL WELLS for round tires mounted on round rims. Should now be a little easier installing moderate lift to accommodate larger 35 inch tires (37 inch tires???) and still maintain a decent "low center of gravity".
GMC engineers still perpetuating the same stupid elementary engineering mistake -----> placing a "round peg in a square hole"......round rim and tire in a square / rectangle wheel well. This greatly comprises and prevents aftermarket upgrades in suspension and larger tires...requires too much lift and negatively affects the "center of gravity" (high center of gravity). Dang, virtually impossible to end on a positive note GM 4WD trucks.

Two theories, why automakers keep using gloss black plastic, One: it helps the car look good in showrooms, but after it's sold they don't care. Two: Out of spite for UA-cam auto reviewers, who keep criticizing them for using this material. They're aware of it's flaws, which shows what they think of their customers.

Yeah, pretty much. "All just in time to watch fuel prices soar" as well. At least Ford has made an attempt at fuel economy.
The Chevy Bolt has become a disaster.
Getting rid of the Chevy Volt plus the 2nd iteration of the Cadillac ELR were also total disasters.
Tesla is already wiping out the new Chevy Corvette clear off the face of the Earth and they haven't even produced their own "super-car" as of yet.
And now here comes Rivian which has shamed the entire "all we make is 4 wheels and a steering wheel" Industry to include Tesla.
At least Ford has made a dedicated work truck hybrid F150...plus the Hybrid Explorer and Lincoln Hybrid Aviator.

I would not buy the Chevrolet 1500 ZR2 simply because the stitching on the seats, door panels and dash is YELLOW. The stitching should be RED......to match the RED accents on the exterior...the Flowtie, Tow Hooks and the Number 2 on the ZR2 fender emblem. The ZR2 should be BLACK and RED and the Chevrolet Bowtie emblems on the rim center caps should be RED. The infotainment screen is stretched out too much left to right...too much of a rectangle...should be more square....same with the instrument cluster.

Be FUN to have a F150 5.0L V8 with either OEM Raptor suspension or aftermarket ICON "Raptor style" suspension and fender flares and run circles around a OEM F150 Raptor with the 3.5L V6 and twin turbos.....both on pavement and off-road. The Raptor 4WD concept is great, just needs a V8 engine. In addition, the Raptor needs high quality front axle shafts from RCV Performance. Most F150 Raptors are "street queens" cause I rarely see dirt and or mud on the exterior.

    • @15Jeep
      @15Jeep 2 роки тому +1

Good job, not really, Chevrolet could've done much better. Five Points.
      1. The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 use to be an excellent engine platform until GM cut costs and installed cheap and weak lifters (major problem now) and connecting rods. Seems they are having parts made in C - H - I - N - A!!!
      2. The 1500 ZR2 should roll off the assembly line with 285/75R-18 (35 inch) Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires as standard equipment and 37 inch tires available as an option.
      3. The Chevrolet 1500 ZR2 is a BIG BLUNDER on the aesthetic details!!!
      4. The FAT horizontal electric shifter is hideous looking and has poor ergonomics.
      5. End on TWO POSITIVE NOTES: 1.
