    Funny, I was about to buy a super expensive yeti but realized I can get a dometic for $400 more. Sold.

    The cfx was designed to also be used while plugged into your cars 12v output. It has built in battery protection. Meaning it will not drain your cars battery to the point your car wont start. I have a newer battery and have had my cfx plugged into my trucks 12v plug in and after 15 hrs of use without the truck running , my battery still wasn't drained and truck started fine .

      100%, and I can't act like I've fully vetted the fridge until I test this functionality. In fact, the previous owner of my new Land Cruiser installed a supplemental 12V outlet in the rear that I believe is wired directly to the battery for this exact reason. And it's a high-performance battery. I'm honestly just too risk-averse to test it, especially when I have this Goal Zero battery.

    Got the CFX3 45 and love it. Very practical and functions well.

      That would've been a much saner choice for me. This one is huge!

    Doing my reviews. I already purched a Jackery. My F-150 has the generator. I juat have to buy this. I am from southern Cali, live in northern cali now. I want to be able to get things when I go to southern Cali and bring them back. Also I live out of a fire station part of my work week, and want my own space for my water and food, and the most important reason I want this. My child is a diabetic. Her insulin needs to stay refrigerated. If there is ever a major power outage, I want to be able to keep her insulin, plus other important things refrigerated for the duration of the power outage. From your video... With me having a jackery (need to get solar panals) and getting the Dometic, I should be good.. If you have any negatives or positives, for my uses please let me know. Thanks, very informative video.

    Having dual zones would be a plus but probably not at the size and cost tradeoffs compared to a 40-50qt fridge/freezer. My old used Engel 45 was $300 but I admittedly spent a bit more ($800) on a second battery, tray, and a Redarc BCDC1225D.

      $1,100 all-in feels pretty reasonable, especially considering the other benefits of a secondary battery. Assuming this one would last a decade, and assuming you're using it 5 times each year, the $1,300 price works out to $26/use...

    The inverter and Gold zero is a good idea.

    Have a Ford Powerboost , so I can fore go the power management system for now which is about another $ 500 more . I’ll get one later to reduce the use of the onboard generator at a camp site.

      The Ford Powerboost system is awesome. I imagine there are so many unexpected uses for it. Ford is dominating right now.

    Hi, Since yesterday I am the owner of CFX3 75 DZ. I have two questions : 1. Can I use the electric extension cord when the unit is left in the car overnight? 2. How should the temperature be set if the power supply is from the DC plug?

      Thanks! Most of the fun in this kind of stuff is trying to find the perfect solution, and often times, there just isn't one. In general these fridges are pretty cool though.

    Uh, did I spy 16" Toyota steel disc wheels in your garage? Those are the ones I've been looking for for ages now!

    For the price of your power pack I bought a deep cycle battery also a charge controller and a solar panel. My fridge runs 24/7

      Yeah, this battery probably isn't the ideal solution.

    Question: When the CFX3 is plugged into the yeti is the yeti battery be charging at the same time? So at night unit is running off a fully charged battery! Dumb question but I just bought a CFX3 DZ75 for my 3 month Subaru Outback Trip to Alaska. Thanks

      When the fridge is plugged into the Goal Zero battery and the GZ battery is plugged into the car, and the car is running/driving, the GZ battery runs the fridge while the car keeps the GZ battery charged. While the car is turned off, the fridge begins to drain the GZ battery. My GZ battery can power the fridge for about 20 hours in the right conditions before becoming completely drained. Turn the car back on and drive more, and the GZ battery will charge off of the car while powering the fridge. I don't know exactly how long it takes for the battery to recharge off the car in this scenario, but it's always worked just fine for me. Essentially the GZ battery is there to bridge the gaps where the car is sitting over night.

    You mentioned it is really big and if known you might have gotten the smaller one but the 75 is the smallest dual zone. Would you have forfeited a dual zone for a smaller footprint? We are also contemplating which size and the dual zone is sooooo nice to have. Wish it came in a smaller size

    • @ChrisONeillUSA
      @ChrisONeillUSA  Рік тому

      A smaller dual zone would be ideal. In my case, a smaller size was worth forfeiture of two separate zones. Most of my trips are 2-3 day weekenders; smaller is better for that, and the 55IM is still workable on longer jaunts. The second zone was handy for hauling refrigerated chicken for my dogs thru Baja, but I actually havent missed it since.

      It's a different story if you're using it in like a Sprinter or full-size truck bed, but in my opinion, the 75DZ is borderline too big for an SUV or midsize truck.

    • @CAMDEC1217
      @CAMDEC1217 Рік тому

      @@ChrisONeillUSA Is it possible to use the smaller size single zone as both as well by playing with temp so that things at bottom are frozen and things at top are just refrigerated???? Your thoughts
