    I always love your reviews. You are one of those guys that has more talent in your pinkie finger than the rest of us have in our whole body! I am 47 with a 9 year old daughter. My joke is that I am trying to support her hobby. In reality, dad is fascinated with the WPL range, and to get into these for well under a $100 bucks in irresistible for a collector personality. The only thing that I've had go wrong is a drive shaft on a C-54 and I had to replace the 180 motor on a C-34. I've had good experience ordering parts directly from WPL.

    I just restored a samurai tintop and had a blast. It’s a small thin-doored 4x4. With this kit the shell looks great but the wheelbase of the chassis is too short compared to IRL. Not the end of the world. Great to see a detailed tin-top shell of this silly car. Recommend one to everyone.

    I like that it's smaller. Perhaps 1:9th would be even better, to try to blend in with the 1:9-1:8 trucks out there. Praise them, though, for not blowing it up to Bushido (1:6.5! )proportions. Let's do our best to keep scale RC scale.

    That issue you noted at 8:00 is most probably because of the out of phase drive shafts. It´s known by WPL and is already looking into fixing it. How that came to happen with the experience they already have, is beyond me, but oh well...

    They cut corners, Alberto. The fender flares are not flat like that on the full scale subject. My 1/6 Capo SIXER got *that* part right.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  5 місяців тому +1

      Did you see how much it costs? I would rather they cut corners and get a nice hard body truck VS the trash Tamiya makes now at 4 times the cost with a lexan body.

    • @IllusionSector
      @IllusionSector 5 місяців тому

      @@AMPROEngineering
      Oh, yeah. This WPL Samurai is ABSURDLY affordable for how good it is, but the fender flares seem nonetheless an odd corner to cut. 🤔(Did it simplify the molds and help the manufacturing?)
      And btw, *my* Samurai is not from Tamiya (I don't believe they ever made one). It's from *Capo,* and not only the body isn't lexan, but it's got opening hood, rear hatch, doors, windows that roll down (yeah, seriously). On the other hand, it didn't cost 4x the price. More like try adding a couple of zeros to this WPL Samurai's price by the time the build is complete with all the add-ons and upgrades. If you happen to watch RC Sparks you may have seen the product I'm referring to covered in series on his channel 6 years ago.
      P.S. Can't help but agree with you on Tamiya having dropped the ball since their golden years back when *they* were the ones pushing the envelope. 🙁

    I'm really impressed with the body - can't wait to see what you do with some LED lights, paint and other scale details... I'm sure you could fit some slightly larger diameter tyres, and I think it would run a lot better (less bouncy/more realistically) with some dampers too, and perhaps a slightly stronger motor - can you squeeze a 380 in there?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  6 місяців тому +1

      Oh that's the plan Jenny. Large tires? Who do you think you are talkin to? I don't think you can but I would go with the 2 speed. All my WPL cars have it and that is a hell of a piece of engineering. The crawler gear is awesome and it runs at a walking speed in 2nd.

    Excellent video as usual! Can I askfor a recommendation? The ESC just squeals like crazy on this, and I'm looking to change it, not so much upgraded, I'm going to keep the same motor, I just want an ESC/receiver combo. Is there anything you would recommend?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Місяць тому +1

      Glad you liked it! Now forgive me for missing something but when you say squeal, this description does not historically come from an ESC. What it does usually denote is a motor with dry bushings. Usually a drop of oil on the front and rear motor bushings will silence a noisy motor. I hate to see you get a new esc/receiver to find the same issue. That said, there are very cheap 30A speed controls that look like a PCB with some wires. I happen to love them. I would say that 20% of the ones I have purchased have failed immediately but the good ones are upwards of 5 years old. For receivers, I really like the basic Turbo Racing radios (they come with receivers) or use something compatible with an existing one you have.

    It isn´t topheavy, it´s a bit backheavy, if anything. that suzuki Samurais tempt to tipping over, was a lie from the americans, because the Samurai sold out the Jeep of that time 2:1. They had a lot of tries, to even get a tire off the ground. There´s several Videos about it on UA-cam, where you even see the old footage, which they took just one screenshot off, where they finally got one tire into the air about an inch after like 60 tries.
