I love how you didn’t bash on it and say it was junk, nor did you prop it up as the next big thing. Especially when it’s not. You let someone else at the wheel to see if they shared your perspective and than handed the torch to Make it Rc to share how much better one can make this little Rc that has potential. Well thank you. I know the quality is good and also am aware of how FMS designs and manufactures their products. This is made well but the design really, really needs work. Since I saw what MakeItRC did, I felt it best to hand him the torch on what to do with it, if you are interested in the car.
Finally, after months, I finished upgrading my Lemur. Lemur stock has by far poorest performance of all FCX I tested so far in my MCCT series (FCX24 Power Wagon, K5, Unimog, FCX18 LC80). Was quite a bit of work. Finally used FCX18 links and shafts, new servo in a new position, shorter shocks, battery front, elo rear, ... and cosmetics on body. Most difficult shock mount not changeable, and to make servo not hit cage because of longer wheelbase. Of course used new tires and heavy rims. Now it is a new truck with way better performance. Hope to finish and upload two videos about my Lemur next days (MCCT and mod), if you should be interested.
Yeah I have to agree with you. None of the FCX cars have ever had the feel of this one. Seems what you did is what we may see from FMS soon! I will check it out!

Thanks for the shoutout! Very much agree with your thoughts and you do a great job with your reviews. 👍 Hopefully FMS will do better with their next "crawler" design. It's a solid rig but the performance doesn't seem to match it's tube frame crawler appearance.
It is all my pleasure! Given how well FMS takes feedback added to their build quality, we can expect some improvement from them in the future.
Most tube frame crawlers struggle to perform at a c or flat rail chassis design. There unsprung weight is terrible and most times trumps that of a lexan or abs bodied wieght. The Capra struggles and is really non impressive on its vertical capabilities until a decent amount of money is put into it.
I do appreciate FMS 2 speed in that you’re not out trying to chase immediate brushless or electronic change. I have their 1/18 yellow jimny that was on sale time back for a $100 and the slow speed is so impressive to me.

Yeah, the foundation is there.
Rtr means ready to replace... more weight up front, lower the body, and stretch the wheelbase. I can't lie. I'm a 10th scale guys and picking lines for these micro crawlers takes some time to learn...
Yeah i wanted to be clear that a good portion of its abilities are due to my inabilities. Many FMS cars are rock solid OOTB but not this one.

The cage looks really quite nice, as expected from FMS, it just sits _so_ high up. It looks like the wheelbase needs to be stretched out quite a bit, especially with the tall shocks sittig so upright. So, basically what MakeitRC did, just even more of it. FMS should have made it way lower, with a longer wheelbase, and the battery placed somewhere else. More of an lcg style rig. And, of course, it should have had some far better tires. :)
It is really high and has a wheelbase that is too short. I think FMS will make changes based on feedback. Quality is great but there are fundamentals that are lacking.

I wish manufactures would give a short blurb about a vehicles intended use. The axial Ryft is an example. Most use it as a basher but its it's intended use is a rock bouncer. Most people have never seen one. They get frustrated trying to use it as a all terrain basher. I not sure what FMS was doing here. Tires way to big for crawling giving it too high center of gravity for crawling.
Yeah same here. I felt the same way with the WPL D60 series. They LOOKED like off roaders but they are totally for onroad use. This looks like something that would be a crawler but clearly they are new at this genre and need improvement.
ah, watching it not being able to drive anywhere, even the not so steep rocks almost hurt... COG too high, battery should be in different position and the tires seems to be just crap...
There are a lot of weird issues with it. It feels like what it is, a first attempt at a little crawler. I am confident that FMS will make a second one with everything solved.
