Sadly, no. They also did a video titled "People Attend a Passover Dinner for the First Time" and it was just as awkward and insulting. The poor rabbi was genuinely trying to teach them about her faith and culture, but everyone was just making light of it and cracking jokes the whole time. It was especially bad because they were being disrespectful participants in a religious ceremony and rude dinner guests, two things one should never do separately, never mind be both at the same time.

to clarify: you can be a wiccan witch, but if you're a witch that doesn't necessarily mean that you're wiccan. wicca is a religion, and witchcraft is a practice.
rainy egg there is also the factor of praying in religions equivalent to practicing magick as a form of right hand path practice so I would say all who are in a religion technically practice witchcraft but differently, (my opinion).

AmmR - So Paganism is the larger umbrella term for "alternative" religions, i.e., Druidism, Satanism, Asatrue, Hellenism, Kemetism, Shamanism. Basically, it is the umbrelle term for all religions that follow a polytheistic belief, or multi god/dess/dieties. Wicca is actually a path under the Pagan umbrella that follow a specific code and path that differs from the others. Wicca is typically more earth based, but Wicca - since it is still a growing religion - has so many different paths itself.

Well with something like witchcraft that has been seen as mythical for so long in society, you have to expect people to not take it as seriously, in fact part of wicca tells you to be patient and understanding and just try to inform those that want to accept knowledge, so it is good that the woman in the store was being patient with them, because it did seem that once they got to the ritual space they looked to be very respectful and interesting in learning.

This video was very irritating to me. The woman seemed so nice and patient and willing to teach them about her religion but they continued to interrupt and joke. It was very rude. If someone was laughing at my religion and making jokes I'd feel disrespected. I don't mind that they believe something different but just don't disrespect me and my religion, keep it to yourself.

I do not believe enough people have brought this up in the comment section, and because I am a nitpicker it bothers me to see this.
When Curly said he would have to hide his cross symbol, the way he said that was so offensive. He made it sound like 1. the majority of us worship some "evil" being (I say majority because of course there are witches that do that).
2. It brings back the topic of debate "does the Bible dislike witches?". The Bible does make it clear they do not like witches, however, I know a good number of Christian witches that believe in God and practice witchcraft.
I am sure not many people would take him for real, like I said I am nitpicking, but how hard would it have been for Buzz Feed to gives these people some sort of information beforehand? Apparently hard enough that they didn't even care that they were making fun of a well-established, sophisticated religion.
Also, they really need to learn the difference between witch and Wicca.

I am a Wiccan and have been for many years. I was very excited that such a big platform was (hopefully) going to respectfully and accurately represent me and my religion. Wicca is a religion; witchcraft is a practice. You do not have to be Wiccan to be a witch. There are many people of all religions who practice witchcraft. In the same vein, witchcraft is unique to each practitioner. Even two people who have the same beliefs may not practice in the same way. :)
No, as i said above all wiccans are witches, but not all witches are wiccan.
My family is catholic and what we do is 1 person in each generation is selected to be a user of holy magic. We mostly do holy spirit magic and expell spirits that are haunting us or anyone we know.

Occultists get the last laugh though. Always. Just disrespecting a witch or sorcerer can indirectly can have a very bad outcome. Trust me, they were very aware of the mockery. And any anger coming from someone in the occult can be very dangerous for the victim. One of the main things occultists are taught is to control their anger and be careful because the energy is much stronger than that of someone who isnt adept in the occult.

But really witchcraft is about connecting to the beautiful planet we live on and making our own affirmations and manifestations… for example, when you blow out your birthday candles and make a wish, technically this is witch craft! It’s almost like praying but with tools and meditation involved!

This video is actually really offensive. As a Wiccan, I find that they were very immature and didn’t take our religion seriously. I found it really annoying that they didn’t even try to do research or to just let the people talk about Wicca without making it into a joke. Wicca is as much of a religion as any another. When they were talking about “having to hide their crosses and Jesus tattoos” it really annoyed me because there are Christian witches. I am not one personally but there are so many different types of witches and they just didn’t even try to understand.
Honestly, I agree. I did not just spend about a few hours researching left-hand use of athames and witchcraft in general so that it can be insulted in a video like this.
There's also the fact that people in the priestesses group were trying to do their ritual and practice as a community and they kept interrupting and making fun of everything they were doing, which could ultimately cause backfire and harm to everyone else in the group,,,

You don't have to believe someone's religion/spirituality is legit, but you can at least not laugh at it openly. Half this video seems really disrespectful, like if they were learning about Buddhism or some other faith that's more accepted by mainstream society, they would be acting very differently.

I did a whole project on the origins of Wicca it's pretty interesting I highly recommend researching lots into it if you like that kinda stuff and if you haven't already :3
actually they are..... well, its hard to explain but wicca and witchcraft are all part of paganism. pagan is an umbrella term for wicca, the draconic path, shamanism and witchcraft. witchcraft is the practice of a pagan. so in a way they are different, but all in all, they come under the same thing. a guy called Gerald gardener invented wicca, and then said that it was a type of paganism. wicca has only been around for about 77 years. so in conclusion, they are different..in a way.. but are all just different segments of paganism. if you disagree then thats cool. have your own opinion. just argue with history and the high priestess of all witches. i myself am a pagan, and i practice wicca, the shamanic path and witchcraft. so yeah.. it is kinda the same thing, but kinda not.

I personally am not Wiccan and I don’t participate in any sort of magic form of religion, but I would’ve loved if they instead took their viewers on a journey of research and actually knew what they were doing and did it in a respectful way. It honestly scares me whenever I see a video like this because I'm so used to Paganism, Wicca, and witchcraft, all being represented both negatively and incorrectly. This wasn't bad. I appreciate that they were curious enough to learn and brave enough to participate. I just feel that since it’s not as (what’s the right word...) public or common(?) in terms that the average person probably never heard of it or only knows very few things, it is taken more lightly due to the influences of their individual lives. The priestess doesn’t seem to mind and as a person who is somewhat familiar with these(I’m not Wiccan), I didn’t seem to mind either. Once you get into that spiritually, you become simply unbothered by these small things because it’s a stigma or some pop-culture idea(like the ‘classic pointy hat evil witch’. I’m glad their learning the truth of things. It’s the way of the world.

I'm in middle school, and my Social Studies teacher is obsessed with the fact that I'm Wiccan (in a "oh that's so cool" way). I found out the other day that she refers to me as "the witch/wiccan girl in our grade" ALMOST EVERY DAY IN EVERY CLASS PERIOD!!!! I've literally died.

I myself am a young wiccan who is still learning a lot of Wicca culture and I really did not appreciate them treating it like a joke. They laughed at a lot of it. I clicked on this video hoping to learn some more about Wicca culture so I can move forward with my learning but it wasn't helpful at all. I wish that there was more actual facts and they were explaining things more in depth. Also I have noticed people saying this was stolen content. I can relate being any religion other than catholic or Christian in my sorta small town is really looked down at and people here are so scared of witches as well so realizing that I am Wiccan, believe in and practice magick really kinda sucks because it means that I have to practice in secret seeing as I was born and raised in a catholic family with a best friend who’s very strongly Christian (she got mad at me when I started messing around jokingly talking about talking with entities and deities) like my town is sorta a bible bell (I’m mean this completely literal in the little aprox. mile by mile business area near my house there are at least 5 churches all catholic or Christian in that one little area) I wish I could meet someone like this lady who wouldn’t look at me like I’m crazy when I talking about Wicca and magick like others in my town would but all I can say is it’s ok I will eventually find a better more accepting place with fellow wiccans where I can learn more and become a better person and as always to you and whoever else reads this comment blessed be 😊

I feel like they really skated over some of the finer points of wicca to make it more accessible to the general public as a wacky alternative to traditional organized religion. This isn’t a bad thing considering the time constraint and i’m glad they respectfully addressed wicca as a valid practice on such a large platform. ‘Magick’ is not ‘magic’ in the harry potter turning hamsters into teacups sort of way. It’s more of a connection with the energies that make up our universe and channeling the energy that lives inside ourselves to help propel us toward any number of goals. Personally, i don’t believe in any deities as humans, but more so as representations of the elements that make them more familiar to us.

You're right in that we definitely are not anything satanic, if any thing I usually joke and say we're more like tree huggers. People are not usually open to learning about our faith in the same way we are taught about Christianity and Islam in schools, so thank you.

Nicholas there are a few connections between neo-druidism and wicca. As they say paganism is an umbrella term, and both faiths fit nicely under it. It also depends on what parts of Wicca you follow- it is often said that no two wiccans are the same and not everyone follows Gardnerian wicca. I myself would be referred to as a eclective Wiccan who follows mostly celtic traditions which are far older than Gardner. There are many types of Wicca but we usually share the common factor of being at a spiritual level with oneself and nature. This is me speaking as a hereditary witch, and do not speak for everyone.

There are moments where it's simply more logical and rational to be offended than maintaining a facade of apathy. Apathy makes you look cool, but that's all it's does. As a Green and Lunar wiccan myself who practices many variations of the traditional craft, I was prepared for full cringe and mis-information, but this video was very decent and I am impressed on how respectful everyone was since they think we're all satanists. - A better definition or understatement of Wicca is a modern-day Pagan religion that practises witchcraft and nature worship, which is based on pre-Christian traditions. The religion often associates practise with rituals to harness and focus on energy.
- When Curly says that he thinks that he treats it as the connection to the earth. It is true, as many witches and practices are based on connecting with the earth and some witches like working with the elements (earth, fire, air, water, and spirit)
- It's spelt magick, not magic. Magic is based on fictional types of spells. Magick is able to bring about change with natural forces.
- Some Wiccans and witches don't believe in the existence of magic(k). I know that people mostly work on energy.
- Magic(k) can affect change through rituals and spells. I don't think 'potion' is the right word since it mostly links to a drink with magic powers made by witches and wizards.
- There are Wiccans and witches who do live by an ethical code. There are many who do work with deities or goddesses and gods. There are some who do share beliefs from covens, but most people work on our own.
- It's "An ye harm none, do what ye will"
- Crystals do have a different quality, hardness and essence. There are Wiccans and witches who cleanse and charge their crystals to remove negativity and help make their divination or spells stronger. Crystals don't need to be charged in a full moon, but during that time it's very powerful.
- There are many crystals that cannot be put in water, so please read sources before you do! Crystals don't need to put in water, rather you can put them on the window sill in the sun or during the night to charge them. You can clean crystals by incense, sage and charge them with your intuition too.
- Pendulums are part of divination. You can put your intuition and emotions into the pendulums to get an answer. It's not always a yes or a no, it can be a maybe or a rephrase.
- The term 'wizard' isn't used in witchcraft or Wicca, from what I know. The term 'witch' is used and is also gender-neutral.
- Rituals and ceremonies don't always make changes quickly. They gradually happen and can take weeks, days or hours for them to happen.
- The high priestess has amazing facts about the ritual steps. Casting a circle can also help with protection and enhance your energy during divination and spells.
