    Not many realize how you, a professional photographer, have to work so hard to take an epic landscape shot - waking up so early in the morning, walk thru forest, river for three to four hours and then navigating the unknown danger on the way ...
    Hats off to you, William. Love your passion, love your work. Compliments from Vancouver Island, Canada :)

    So much to like in this video William. First, the intro and getting a bit of a sense of your home turf. I've watched your channel for some time and I don't recall ever getting that glimpse before. It just helps give another dimension. And then the planning (what a paradise of spoils you live in) and turning the planning into doing. Some pretty tough bush-whacking, but what a location! You called the scene "a gift" but you really were the one to give it to yourself, with all the effort to get there -- and be there -- for the light. Thoroughly enjoyed this, and enjoyed seeing you enjoying it all.

    What a glorious atmospheric morning in a stunning setting! It is times like this you wish you could divide yourself into three so you could concentrate on the different aspects presented in this situation rather than running around like a headless chook trying to cover all. Your first image with the long grass heads in the foreground is gorgeous. The vegetation more than anything makes it look other-worldly and stand out from say similar scenery in the northern hemisphere.

    • @WilliamPatinoPhotography
      @WilliamPatinoPhotography  7 місяців тому

      Thanks a lot mate :) honestly, I prefer moving around the landscape anyways. Sitting on the one spot just makes me overthink things. The key is to not get into headless chook mode, just adapt to the light and trust intuition. Great fun :)

  • @HoldStillPhotographyptk

    Absolutely love this. This to me, is what is best about capturing that shot - the experience you had while out there, being in the moment. Quick question though, I was wondering how many times you have never got to the shot (e.g. the fern plan), because of all the distractions with other compositions. 😅

    • @WilliamPatinoPhotography
      @WilliamPatinoPhotography  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks brother. Usually I don’t plan too much of a specific image, that way I’m just open to what speaks to me the most. If that fern/mountain perspective didn’t work out it wouldn’t have mattered much because of the other nice atmosphere and light I got in the other direction. I’ve done trips like this before and the favourite image ended up being spontaneous ones in the forest or a random waterfall I found, etc. I usually come back with something but it’s certainly not always the main thing I might’ve had in mind. Cheers brother.

    I'm not at your level yet, but my images are really good and I have the same philosophy. I've watched your videos and thank you for the stuff that you sent me that I purchased as well as it was affordable and inspired me and I agree with everything you said it is our moment, capturing ability to be in nature as well. I often think that the photo is probably the actual least important part of it. That might sound crazy. If we get the other bits right, the location, the process and our attitude, the images flow. I live in a beautiful part of Australia on the southern half and it is majestic and I love capturing my own local area. I do travel a little bit, but it as you can imagine it's difficult when you have a mortgage and children and other things. I would aspire to be a full-time landscape photographer, but I'm not sure I can do it, but I will keep driving thank you always for your videos which do inspire.
