- It was a very, very amazing performance (Open-Air-Concert at the beautiful „Zitadelle Spandau" in Berlin, 20. Juni 2014). I was very impressed of Lana's charming way to laugh and talk with the audience. She sang very well and complex. Her band played at the same time sensitive and powerful. It was short (70 minutes) but unforgettable. Please enjoy these extracts from the concert.

As someone who actually studies music, I can say that she is NOT autotuned and she is NOT singing "lazily". She just soars harmonic vocals over the main melody line with added inflections. It's artistry. :)

Alechandro ye i figured, but Im so glad she did. she has great taste in her inspirations. Most modern women are obsessed with who has the biggest butt, lips boobs...Lana is soo bloody feminine and reminds me how women should be.
She uses her voice in unconventional, crazy ways other singers just don't. She squeaks, growls, yodels, does all kinds of weird stuff. But it's clearly coming from her throat, nowhere else.
We're living in a sad world if people think every crazy sound effect comes from autotune!

That's not true. I've listened to other performances, and she sounds really good, she can definetly hold a tune. I guess she's been taking vocal lessons, maybe she was just nervous and tense in this performance.

She's an artist that lets her moods dictate her performances, which is why I love her. When you see her on a bad night, it's atrocious. When you see her on a good night, it's transcendental. That is what an artist does. She is not fake, she's genuine. No bullshit gimmicks, just her in the moment.

Lana doesn't sing perfectly live but so were the past Americana artist that inspired her persona. Think of Bob Dylan, Jannis Joplin, and John Lennon. Those singers and many more from the 60's, 70's etc. were not known for having the most melodious voice (watch their live performances) . However, they are still famous because they have produced "good music" - music that for some (like us fans) deemed significant. I personally love lana cause she sings live, doesn't use auto tune, and is clearly a gifted lyricist, and for me that's what separates her from other mainstream artist. It irritates me that people are quick to judge her live performances because they compare her to modern pop artist. No, Lana is different. Her music is from the past put in todays context.

Sorry but it's almost offensive to compare Lana Del Rey to those artists. Lana is manufactured, doesn't play an instrument well enough to perform it live and always shares co-writing credits... comparing her to the greats is condescending at best. She's doing her own thing, which is fine, but those artists were musicians with soul and could knock out great tunes without huge teams behind them.

The first time I heard her I didn't like it. Now I love every song by her, it took me a couple times hearing her to warm up to it.
To be fair, the music is pretty loud so even if she did make a mistake you probably wouldn't hear it too well.
it’s because she’s singing in a different way. she sings with her own emotions. these people judging her probably only listen to artists like Ariana Grande or Justin Bieber. don’t get me wrong they’re great vocalists! but they are just using the normal singing technique. Lana is unique in that way. not everything has to be about singing a head voice whistle note for 15 secs straight 😬 music is more than that. music is art.

Amazing perfomance. I was so happy when I saw this performance for the first time here on UA-cam. I remember that I watched this video when it first came out. I have not watched it since then. But now as I watch it again I can really see how she has developed as a singer. Her voice was amazing here and she has only gotten better. I guess that she has a great vocal coach or a great vocal technique. She keeps getting better and better as a singer, and it also makes her a greater live performer. I have so much respect for her. She is not that nervous anymore as I could see she was in the begning of her career. :)
