    TESTIMONIALS
    ‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
    ‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
    ‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
    ‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
    ‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
    ‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
    ‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
    Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
    ‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
    ‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
    ‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
    ‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

    I totally got the tap in class today because of this choke. And I got the choke from watching this video previously. My partner didn't even know what was happening. Afterwards he kept saying, "I just couldn't breathe.". We're both one-stripe white belts, but I'm 51 and he is in his 20s. Boo-yah!

    Great details on getting the lock tighter. You had me laughing out loud when describing how much it sucks to be in that position because it really does. Thank you.

    Not sure if you guys still read these but if so thanks, gave this a go at BJJ recently and worked really well.
    Got a judo background so comfortable in Kesa but never really added the subs in until now with stuff like this helping.

    Thank you, but a few comments. The arm frame and leg over were both done incorrectly and that is why it doesn't work as well in your academy. The frame arm is the top arm and the frame leg goes over the face. I will consider the stir method though. thank you again.

    Can't wait to try stirring the pot0 tomorrow. I can get to side control and head and arm choke position from side control against other white belts fairly consistently by just being big and mong strong but my finish rate with the submission isn't great. Thanks for the points 🤘

    Does this differ from an arm triangle choke? Is your shoulder what makes this choke work?
    Also, I competed as a white belt this past weekend for the first time and I hit the submission you showed in "kesa getame kill system" when you trap the arm with your leg and finish with americana. Love that technique! Thank you :)

    This is such a good technique to move into. I wanted to ask at 3:00 (when your hands push out), is there any chance he could use that as a window to escape his head back down into? I realize this is done very fast, so i understand unlikely.

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  6 років тому +1

      Great question Hatch. NO as when my arms go out my elbows squeeze inward. I know it seems like an escape opportunity but its not! (-: Coach Tom

  • @timgraczewski872
    @timgraczewski872 6 років тому +4

    Quick question... What if your opponent has a grip on your collar? That was the situation I faced today. I got to GG with my hand gripping the inside of my thigh and most of my weight on my opponent’s chest (we are equally matched 200lbs blue belts). My opponent was essentially stiff arming my face with his fist, but his hand had a fist full of my lapel. I couldn’t execute a proper 2 on 1 grip break because my other arm was under his head in standard GG. It really frustrates my whole line of attack, including the classic key lock and arm lock attacks. I eventually gave up and moved back to side control. Any thoughts?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  6 років тому +1

      Great question on a common problem! The answer is to finish the choke Josh Barnett style which is how his BJJ coach Rigan Machado teaches it. You don't need the arm across to choke them once you develop your pressure and squeeze. At 200lb that shouldn't be a problem for you! (-: Coach Tom Davey

    What is Kesa Gatame without the arm . If the arm slips under and you have your rib cage on neck with headlock . I feel that’s a better position. Recently got a couple of taps with that but I don’t know what it’s called ...

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  5 років тому +1

      It can still work but the arm is crucial against big skilled opponants otherwise long legs will get your back. (-: Tom Davey

  • @hasfidanken

    In this video you say do not go all the way down with your head, in the "kesa gatame kill system" you say the opposite, to go head next to head. Can you elaborate on that? Thanks.

    Coach Tom I was taught the framing escape but to use the outside arm on the neck so if I was Paul I would frame with my left arm instead of my right, does that protect me from head arms and does it make the technique better?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  5 років тому

      It is also another option but does leave you vulnerable (like most moves) to different attacks. IN your case the old school belly down cutting armbar. But if you don't escape you are dead anyway so you may as well go for it! (-: Tom Davey

    • @exodusxp8094
      @exodusxp8094 5 років тому +1

      cool thanks i will try this attack because in my gym most people dont attack from kesa gatame they just use it to hold or to transition and get their knee under my arm

  • @Arthurdankarelli

    How long does this choke usually take to get the tap? I feel like I might be letting go of it before giving it a chance

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  5 років тому +1

      Its an attrition choke so choke and breathe and keep squeezing tighter. (-: Tom Davey

    This is a very dangerous move. Please do not use this move on children and teenagers it is extremely dangerous. The instructor is laughing about this move. Remember you do not want to hurt your teammates. This move should only be used in life-saving situations. I would only use this move on an adult male who is not an absolute beginner.

      I think this move, and all moves, can be safely. 20+ of these are done on my mat every night and no one has been injured yet. Food for thought. (-: Coach Tom Davey
