This game is like Sonic Heroes, if Sonic Heroes:
1. Was fun
2. Had the edgy over the top advertising campaign (like that "threesome" ad) as the game's tone and style
3. Had mild swearing
4. Had weapons
5. Had mild violence
6. Had memorable songs other than Sonic Heroes, What I'm Made of and Team Chaotix
7. Was fun

Idea. Sega makes a Shadow the Hedgehog trilogy that pushes Sonic storytelling to its. Each gamer getting darker and darker with mature themes and ideas. The first game follows his rematch with the Black Arms and their queen, the Black Devil Empress.
The second game follows him battling Metal Shadow, who was programmed to think like the vengeful early Shadow from SA1.
And the third game follows a rematch with Infinite who made an alliance with a vengeful young girl who acts as a dark reflection of Maria to both have revenge against Shadow because. Her family was killed by Black Arms during the events of Shadow 05 and blames and hates Shadow for her family’s death.

I would much rather have games like shadow and 06 than games like colors and lost world. I would rather have experimental, high budget, large runtime, captivating aspects, anime-like stories. Than bland safe basic small-child-target-audience stuff of the 2010s and a little of what we get nowadays. You guys say a talking hedgehog doing dark stuff is ridiculous but I say it’s THE APPEAL, it’s putting a realistic spin on a cartoony foundation. That’s unique and interesting. ❤
Imo, the game is both unironically good and ironically funny(in the flawed western localization where they say damn ever 2 seconds). I'm still in support of a Project Shadow-remake being made eventually to clean the game up, because if nothing else, there are a lot of lower hanging fruit that would be easy to improve without too much effort.
9:13 That's one of these points where I definitly agree...but this agreement also sorta requires a disagree with a prior statement, lol. Shadow is animated really well in this game, but they really overdid the squash and stretch to the point where Shadow sometimes looks more like a paintblob than the titular mouse in the Epic Mickey games. They really needed to reduce this, meaning more polishing up.
This game is already one of the more polished in the series in that I have encountered very little random jank, but sometimes the most weird stuff slips through the cracks where you see that it was still kinda rushed(Which it surprisingly was, this game for sure didn't have much more than 1 year devtime in total), like another example being that it is the only game in the series that I know that is not memorysafe. What does this mean? Well, if the wrong data happens to get overwritten by the load and deload of stuff, the game may just crash. The good part is that the issue basically does not exist because the chance for this is incredibly low...but like, this shouldn't be a thing in the first place.

That is why it looks really jarring, the contrast between this release and the rest of the series was widened in localization to a dumb degree.)

@rylanbrady1599 I have to say I completely disagree. it’s really out of character in my opinion, plus I do think sonic games are fundamentally for kids even if this game has a higher age rating. But I could *maybe* see it working if they did it better.

@@therylanbrady1599 Not really, Shadow is just confused most of SA2 because of the fact that he believes Maria told him to destroy earth. But when Amy jogs his memory he finds out Maria wanted him to protect earth. So to me at least that means he has no reason to be all “dark” and “brooding.” I don’t think he’s happy go lucky all the time but idk. Sorry for the ramble 😅
