My son’s car developed a leak in a 2.5 inch coolant hose. We wrapped it three times around with the extra wide Gorilla Tape, and it held for four months until he could replace it. He only replaced it because I kept bugging him about it u til he did.
Just picked up an ATC Toll Roll and I must say, WOW! The quality is superb and you gotta love that waxed canvas smell! Already set up my tools for my Jeep. Now I am saving up for the other two large bags illustrated in the video. Good stuff and all thanks to this vid! Thanks brotha! #
I have to agree tool rool is the way to go. Not only for the display of tools but also the packablity. Quality toolset is good but doesn't have to be top of the line. I use mine when doing regular maintenance work to insure I have what is needed in my kit
100% agree tool roll is better than tool box.. for me it's the way you can squish it /them into an unused gap.. one thing, if your multimeter uses a square 9v battery keep a replacement .. AA or AAA batteries you can usually borrow from something else, but not much uses 9v
Bag of holding... I remember that stuff well.🤓 Don't if already mentioned, but I recently discovered the "lock n lube" fitting that goes on the grease gun. Operated with a thumb lever. Way better that a standard grease gun end. Maybe this is a no brainier for folks here, but I added a breaker bar and 21mm 6 point socket for my lug nuts. I put on my spare once with the stock tire iron. That stubby little thing made it much harder than needed.
Just a comment. When looking at the side view camera you had the bag and then the items on the other side of the bag so it was blocking the view of the items. I agree with what your saying, you only need the tools and items to get you home then you can do the serious repairs at home or at a workshop. I'm looking at tool rolls now, seeing we can't do much here in Victoria Australia at present until they give us the go-ahead to get back out there.
First thanks for making these videos. Lets face it TV sucks anymore so UA-camrs like you are my entertainment. My go to tool I have been using for years is the Mini 1/4 inch ratchet with extension. You can apply a lot of torque more then a screw driver. it gets in places nothing else can. A magnet, great for holding nuts and bolts so they don't walk away. That large pocket on your tool roll would hold a nice ground tarp to keep things clean . And a 3 prong retrieval tool to get that #%^$ part that fell in to the Abyss of Doom. Great Job keep it up
I like those bags.. The only extras I really carry myself outside of what you have here are an impact and a torque wrench. I do lack the lubrication though - no pun intended. 👍
I used metal zip ties and duct tape on my buddies truck when he sheared the driveshaft in half. It got him home so it was a win lol it was super sketchy though lmfao
Good video. What tool wrap are you using? The ones on Amazon are too small (I have them). And if it's not available, what are the dimensions? Shouldn't be too difficult to make. (and not too difficult to figure out the dimensions... ) Tool wraps are a complete subject by itself. A good one: you roll it open under the vehicle and can easily grab what you need. Everything has a place. A bad one: it's black(you can't find anything in dim light), small, you unroll it and half the stuff falls out. Little bitty stuff like screwdriver tips are a perennial pain in the butt, especially now that there are about 15 different screw head types. I've yet to find any holder, case, etc that isn't a pain to insert and remove them, or is just a scramble. (I spent the first 20 years of my life: blade or phillips. Then I moved to Canada: Robertson - they were great. Now if I put some widget together with 3/4" 1.25", 2" screws they all have different heads. Allen wrenches could be as bad, but length makes them work. Just pasted your photo into Illustrator. The main (upper in the photo) section is 42 x 14" and the bottom flap(?) is 27 x 16". Doing some Googling I found the Wolf Tooth components tool wrap that looks pretty good. I like that it uses clear vinyl for the small stuff pockets. Makes it easier to find the itty bitties. (In my tool belt pocket I use a neodymium magnet to hold all those annoying driver bits together. And because every stupid thing is black these days, I give the pockets of my black tool belt, and anything else like it a shot of white plastic spray paint. The paint soaks right in and it looks like you've accomplished nothing, but if you leave one pocket unpainted you'll quickly notice the difference.) Just cooped up at home thinking out loud....

I doubt he's wheeled with many Series Landies but some of them have some British Standard "Whitworth" nuts and bolts. Of course if you have metric and SAE you will be able to get close enough with a combination of both but ehh.
I think tools are only as good as the vehicle itself and the servicing and spare parts you bring Vehicle - My first 4x4 was a 4.5 auto 80 series and I lost the auto box in Wales miles from anywhere. That was a full service history 120k mile vehicle, my point if the vehicle has a complicated part, that will go wrong Maintenance - service every few thousand miles and before any major trip Spare parts - bring all filters seals, bearings a cv shaft, wheel studs, wheel nuts spare light bulbs, fuses etc I go by the theory that if a part can go wrong it will go wrong, if you can’t fix it on the road your buggered

Was that way when I bought the vehicle 15 years ago! With your electrical and fuses, consider extra relays as well. I just raid a like vehicle in the junkyard and pull one or two relays of each type.
Michael there is one thing that is needed with your tool set Can you guess what that is lol il give you a little hint . What happens when you drop a nut or a bolt in a hard to reach spot

1more tip. Yes, you sometimes have to rig things up to get home. But when you make it home, fix it correctly. Don't just keep accumulating more and more temporary fixes.
Oft overlooked, but an important tool I always carry is a good piece of heavy waxed canvas tarp about 6' square. It is great for a number of other uses but it's most important function is put down under whatever it is you are working on. If you drop a socket, a bolt, washer, nut, etc., into the dust or, god forbid, sand, it is gone forever. Being heavy canvas (not that blue garbage!) it wont flap around. It's also good to lay on under the vehicle to keep you from getting completely dirty. I have a piece of canvas I've been carting around the world for decades. It probably saved my life in the Sahara when I dropped an irreplaceable throttle wire clip through the engine bay to the sand below. That would have been a long, long walk home :-0 Just my tuppence worth.
I would add quality tools. Nothing worse than a Knuckle Buster because of the wrench, ratchet and or socket slipped,broke or stripped the faster. Im not saying you need to get tools off the tool trucks. But the $3.00 whatever will bite you. I would also add a manual on how to fix ones vehicle. They can be had at any auto parts store. Im the guy who brings everything.

Good kit! Would add a bit of race wire (thick and thin). If you can't fix it with duct tape, JB Weld, or race wire, it likely ain't broke. ;-)

Oh yeah...we actually use a soft travel garment bag that is the perfect size.
