I don't remember where I heard it, but I remember hearing someone say "if it takes you less than a week to solve the problem to your characters dilemma, don't use that idea." I can honestly say, it's probably ly the greatest piece of advice I've ever used when it comes to finding unique and memorable ways to crate tension and excitement in my story.

LOVE the idea of doing an edit just to connect seperate threads together. I'll have to tuck that away for when my WIPs are at that stage, haha
I prefer simple linear plots in stories and writing, but that's just me. I don't want 100 characters going off on 15 different quests.
