Some people can sing .. Chrissy was a passionate singer with an unbelievable fight for her music and her life. Chrissy you helped so many people appreciate what this life is about and.. why it's worth fighting for.
A few months ago when I began exploring their music in greater detail, from ''Monkey Grip'' to ''Underworld'' and beyond, I was stunned by such creative genius. Chrissy's beautifully distinctive style and lyrics being delivered with that unmistakable aussie flavour is what captured my ear.......and my heart forever. It's impossible for me to imagine this thing called ''Divinyls' happening anywhere other than where it happened.....Thank you Australia....obviously, a very special place!
@John King You allude to something about Australian bands in general. I'm not sure exactly what it is that defines many of our bands but there is a certain intensity that many bands seem to share. It started in the 60s with bands like The Easybeats, The Loved Ones, and The Master's Apprentices and fed into the 70s and 80s with bands like Billy Thorpe And The Aztecs, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel, Divinyls, The Angels, and AC/DC. It was very much a live industry here and bands worked hard to make a living. You can't beat playing a lot to live audiences to hone your craft. Ask The Beatles that. So maybe that's part of the reason why Australian bands are often edgy.
What's great about Divinyls after so many years is that their music holds up. Each song is a little life vignette but more than that the songs are delivered with passion and intensity. The music is edgy and Chrissy was a very intense singer and performer. Those live performances I was lucky to witness are some of my favourites from any bands anywhere, and I still play their records. Recently, the first two records, DESPERATE and WHAT A LIFE, were released with extra tracks. I hope the third, TEMPERAMENTAL, is next. Not sure what will happen with the fourth and fifth because they are not Chrysalis albums but Virgin and RCA respectively.
You should know by now we all learn and how We all get through somehow It's the natural thing that should be understood If you think that loves is for good I tell you I'm the one who misunderstood If you think that love is for real You're gonna need a heart of steel You're gonna need a heart of steel We all make mistakes we should have what it takes To get through all the heartaches It's the natural thing that should be understood understood understood If you think that loves is for good I tell you I'm the one who misunderstood If you think that love is for real You're gonna need a heart of steel You're gonna need a heart of steel That's for real, that's for real Since you've been gone if feel that my hear t can't carry on Since your goodbye I thought I would just lay down & die You better dry your eyes you should've realised But who am I to criticise It's the natural thing that should be understood It's the natural thing that should be understood Understood understood If you think that loves is for good I tell you I'm the one who misunderstood If you think that love is for real You're gonna need a heart of steel
I had to Order A Used Copy of The CD From Australia on Amazon.com almost $100.00 but it was worth it because I probably the few in North America that has the album.
There remains a sadness every day since this goddess left us. First minute I get to heaven I will score tickets to see and hear her again.

If you think that loves is for good
I tell you I'm the one who misunderstood
If you think that love is for real
You're gonna need a heart of steel
You're gonna need a heart of steel

If you think that loves is for good
I tell you I'm the one who misunderstood
If you think that love is for real
You're gonna need a heart of steel
You're gonna need a heart of steel
That's for real, that's for real
Since you've been gone if feel that my hear t can't carry on
Since your goodbye I thought I would just lay down & die
You better dry your eyes you should've realised
But who am I to criticise
