  • The Phoenix-like S90 does something more than just offer safety and a Swedish vibe. It competes against the established luxury brands for the first time.Tom Voelk reviews the Volvo S90 T6 Inscription model.
    About Tom:
    Tom Voelk is an award-winning automotive contributor to The New York Times. His podcast was the first to win an Emmy Award. He also married way out of his league. Now, stop reading this promotional copy bragging about Tom's photography and editing skills and watch a couple episodes. It's much more interesting.

    We own the XC90 and love it. Easy choice after testing BMW, MB, Lexus, Audi, and Grand Cherokee Summit trim. Don't miss our BMW X5 one bit. New model Volvos are best bang for the buck right now if you can afford the Inscription trim model(s).

      Did you really check on the new Q7?! Can't really believe someone would chose the Volvo over it..

    • @aramiris

      Kraenk? you a troll or what? what do you mean you cant believe someone would choose the xc90 over the q7? did you drive the xc90? the new one I mean. also keep in mind the q 7 is WAAAYYYY more expensive than the xc90 at the same level of equipment.

      Kev50027 15K in, no issues whatsoever. Routine maintenance experience far exceeded my general experience with BMW by a long shot and Audi by a bit. Looking forward to seeing what happens (if anything) as the miles add up...

  • @kraenk12

    They should really reconsider introducing a V6 option. I can see a lot of people deciding against this great car because of this 4-cylinder, sadly but understandably.

    It was a great idea, to show us the dangers of Waving at you on the Freeway.
    Maybe you should create a new playlist on this channel with all the User Questions you've answered so far and put this footage in a general advisory video. "What not to do if you do see me recording a video" I remember watching an old Q&A video with you explaining how you do the evil twin and the secrets of your mystical hair, you silver fox you. Would be nice if those Q&A videos were more easily accessible, as new subscribers would want to know the same things.

    If it was a V6 my decision would be a slam dunk. However, I do believe that power is going to cause excessive strain on the four cylinder engine. Otherwise, the car is elegant and the interior is best in class.

    • @aramiris
      @aramiris 7 років тому +1

      if that engine can power the xc 90 i bet you are safe with it powering the s90

    • @steyn-7457
      @steyn-7457 7 років тому +1

      We don't really have V6 engines in europe anymore for the last 10 years, the biggest engine you can find in a car is most of the time a 2.0 liter 4 cil. So nothing to worry about, it is a typical american thing to be worried about a 4 cil engine but they are doing their job pretty good. I have a 1.8 4 cil Volkswagen Golf from 1989 and it is still going strong.

    • @stevewise1656
      @stevewise1656 7 років тому

      TheArrogantOne 229 horsepower for a very large car and that's BS Europeans mostly drive foot cylinders...luxury SUV's do not mostly have for cylinders in Europe, many have six cylinder turbo or dual turbo's.

    • @steyn-7457
      @steyn-7457 7 років тому +1

      Nope, most of our (luxury) cars have 4 cilinders, there are some with 6 or 8 but most of them are 4 cylinder.

  • @jamespatrick6939
    @jamespatrick6939 7 років тому

    So if there a clear disadvantage of having a 4 cylinder with super and turbo charger? something annoying?

  • @Chitwn81
    @Chitwn81 7 років тому

    Tom thumbs up to you as always but I often wonder why you never mention the new Lincoln Continental as a competitor as you mentioned Mercedes, BMW, and Cadillac but I would suspect that the Lincoln Caddy and Genesis will be more competitors than the Mercedes or BMW as that 4 cyl only engine will probably turn off alot of buyers
