@@ambalta sorry I'm a rookie and this is my thought process.. A patina is oxidizing the metal correct? If you paint and primer before a patina, the patina wouldn't be interact with the metal but obstructed by the paint and primers. When applying a patina it's important to have a clean surface. With that thought I'm assuming this this is paint technique that mimics patina? Sorry I'm not at all criticizing the process it looks cool as hell. Im trying to learn. Im a welder with horrible painting / patina skills.
@@isaacmartinez3222 You're right about the natural patina process. Since the oxidization process is not healthy for the metal because a front entry door or a staircase railing shouldn't have the rust texture, it needs to be protected with the primer and paint on top of the Zinc metalizing coating. The patina application will give the effect of oxidization but keeps the longevity and integrity of the metal. I'm glad that you're enjoying the process of exploring and learning the options. Keep it up and let me know if you have other questions.
@@ambalta I see so am I right if I assume the metal is protected with a zinc, primer and paint. The paint contains metal and that metal interacts with the patina? Then there will be a finish coat of sealer?
