    I'm planning to visit sweden next January and hope to move there someday eventually. I've been learning a little bit of Swedish on Duolingo as well and I've only recently found your channel and I'm liking it, super helpful and easy to understand! Perhaps with your videos and with some lessons on the side I can learn swedish quickly enough.
    I planned on learning german first, but swedish is so much better, prettier and also easier to learn for me than german. I think swedish is such a 'melodic' and beautiful language just like italian is.
    I'm having some problems understanding when to use 'därför att', 'eftersom' and 'för att'. 'I', 'på' are also very confusing to me, but I hope I can get the gist of it soon enough.
    Tack så mycket och hejdå!

    I have a question: Is it difficult for Swedish people to grasp conjugations in other languages where the ending changes for each person? (Like in German "ich arbeite," "du arbeitest", "er arbeitet", "wir arbeiten" etc.)
    I am asking because in Swedish, you use the same ending for each person, that's why I wonder if learning conjugations is more difficult for Swedish people than for German, French or Spanish speakers for example.

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  2 роки тому +3

      I would say yes! Verbs in those kinds of languages are often the most common mistakes Swedish people make.

      In a way, but a closely related cousin language to Swedish called English has things like "I am"/"you are", "she has"/"they have" and so on. So even people that hasn't studied German of French have seen it before.

      @@FunSwedish Thanks for the answer. I have watched this video before and that's useful too. But I am not looking for mig/dig/han/hon/honom/henne. Rather its when you say "hör av". So its a bit confusing and I always mixup when to say jag "hör av" mig, jag "hör av" dig, du "hör av" mig, etc. So please let me know if you have any video on this topic, or please make on if you don't. 😀

    Why, when you ask a question does ‘fragar’ change to ‘fraga’?
    In the example, “Far jag fraga dig en sak?”
    The present tense is “Jag fragar”, and this question is in the present tense. Why drop the ‘r’?

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  Місяць тому +1

      Great question! The reason we drop the "r" in "fråga" in the sentence "Får jag fråga dig en sak"? is because you have 2 verbs in that sentence "får" and "fråga". "Får" is a helpverb and when you have a helpverb together with a second verb (fråga) then you always need to write the second verb in its infinitive-form (att fråga = to ask)
      Får jag fråga dig en sak? = May I ask you something?
      Here is another example of 2 verbs in the same sentence and how we always write the second verb in the infinitive form (to work).
      Jag SKA JOBBA = I WILL work (ska is the helpverb, jobba is the second verb)
      If you would write "Jag SKA JOBBAR" it would sound weird, like saying "I will working".
      Same thing with your example. That is why you can't say " Får jag frågar dig en sak" = May I asking you one thing. Would sound weird in both Swedish and English.
      Instead you need to say "Får jag FRÅGA dig en sak?" = May I ask you something?
      If you want to learn more about Swedish sentence structure, verbs and helping verbs then I really recommend you to sign up to this Swedish course starting very soon!

      @@FunSwedish - thank you for the response. That explains things. So, it’s like in French -
      “Je mange” - I am eating (present tense), and “J’aime manger” - I like to eat (also present tense). In the second example, ‘manger’ remains in the infinitive.
      I’ll have a look at the link to the course. Might have a trip to Gothenburg coming up!!

    This makes sense to me, but why is the ‘r’ not dropped here, but it was in the ‘fragar’ example, when a question was asked? So confusing!! This literally makes no sense.
