Swedish is like Icelandic but cool in its own way. Languages are so unique and individual that you can't really say which one is better. Icelandic sounds sweet and sometimes like wind or erupts like volcano. Swedish is melodic with its tones and it sounds playful. Damn I must learn at least the basics.

Oh my goodness! When I first learned hon and han, I used Han Solo, too! And in English (in the US, at least), people use the term "Hon" as short for "Honey" when used as a nickname. "Hey, Hon...can you take out the garbage today?" It's often used to refer to a woman (like maybe a waitress)... which may or may not be rude (it's expected in the south). Anyway, I think of Han Solo and calling a woman Hon to keep it straight.

I like this video was very explained on every detail, which is excellent. Like in English in Spanish we refer to / I / equals to /Yo /Jag /or the first person singular, a subject or any theme your talk about will be the subject. The 2nd person You (the listner) /du/, The 3rd. Person, is the topic or theme anything you refer to while in conversation. I was wandering about the formal you/ usted/ like you explained; the British refers to their king the same way, very clear too good video, tack, hejda, gracias, nos vemos, pronto, Wilfredo de Puerto Rico.

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  Рік тому +1

The formal "usted" is "Ni" but it is rarely used these days. Unless you are meeting the king very frequently.
But it used to be as common as the Spanish "Usted" before the "du reformen".

English is not lazy, it's a pragmatic language with a very pragmatic
grammar, I grew up speaking Spanish and then learned English at an early
age, the fact that in Spanish (as well as French, the other language I
speak) objects have gender is illogical, a table is a table, no gender
    there

2:30 France also had a reform similar to this after the revolution, everyone should call other people “tu” (the equivalent of “du”) regardless of the hierarchy, which is called “tutoiement” in French. Before that, people higher up in the hierarchy should be called “vous” (a more formal way of saying “you” (“vous” is the plural form of “you”)), which is called “vouvoiement”, but this reform did not stay for very long since people were used to “vouvoiement”, and the first French republic was hated by everyone back in the time. Now we still call people higher up in the hierarchy “vous”, and people at the same place of lower “tu” as well as friends and family

Is Duolingo a good app to use for learning Swedish? If not, where else can I learn it along with this channel ?

It is if it's basic swedish but I found some mistakes on duolingo app before but nonetheless, it still helped me when I was still learning. I also have a channel where I share some lessons about swedish. 👍💖

Hi, do Swedish language have a vowel reduction rule, or all is as simple as pronounced? Tack for att du svarade mig, hejda.

There a lots of wierd things we do with our vowels 😅.
From the difference between long and short vowel... to lots of reductions on everyday spoken Swedish 😊

I love this video! What about this sentence: Jag tycker om att äta jordgubbar / Jag gillar att äta jordgubbar - I like to eat strawberry.
Tycker om/gillar. Do they mean same thing or different?

So happy to hear! Thanks for following us. Yes, they mean the same thing and can be used interchangably :)
