We just bought a new house, I now will finally have the room to run and display my toy trains. My main interest is Marx trains, especially tin plate and deluxe plastic. I have over 30 years of boxes to unpack and hope to have a layout like yours in the future. Thank you for sharing yours.
Thanks Chuck. Someone started the project and even cut Homasote wood floors in the cars. I finished the wiring. Stays put on the track with the extra weight. That engine has the large motor and the other M 10005 has the micro.
You have a fantastic layout Steve. It was a joy to watch all of your beautiful Marx trains. I love the Marx tower of power. I hope the train that derailed is okay.
Claiborne, thank you very much for watching and commenting. The Marx Tower of Power was an idea to display my Marx trains and operate electric and windup trains, that fit a small area.
Wow. A handmade functional bridge. And I would never imagine a solid bridge is constructed of balsa wood. The punched tin that braces the beams gives a dimensional aspect of realism. The painted clouds and printed scenery on the foam board are terrific. And I have a question about the curved black girder section after the bridge, is that also made of balsa and with a plywood base? Does the drywall compound need to be a particular consistency when applied? So that globs of the compound will not break, slide and drop down?
The black boards are thin paneling. It was 20 years ago, I think I added some water to the compound. It took many applications. Thank you for your interest.
Thank you for sharing the video of your Marx tinplate trains. The trains are in fantastic condition, unique and stand apart from Lionel. I appreciate seeing the different road names and the B&O engine and caboose is outstanding. Moreover, the trains have a pleasant pace and your track plan is interesting. I particularly like the overpass of the steel bridge. How were you able to construct the circular curved support platform that is on the left side of the layout. Because the flat side of the dimensional wood structure that lays under the track appears as 2'x4" stock. And how did you construct the circular tower? Where did you find the backdrop and is the mountain scenery made from plaster of paris, because the surface is flat and not gauzey. What are the double inside and outside curve diameters? I also like the switch tower, is that made from a kit? What is the width of the train board from the wall and to the outside edge? Did you make the black colored girders that support the upper track plan? Take care, and God Bless.
Thanks for your interest. The silver bridge is made from balsa wood with aluminum plates that are tin punched for rivets. The left side extra levels are plywood with 2”x4” and 1”x4” supports. The Marx Tower is made from 32” circles with more info that video. The backdrop is blue foam board with painted clouds and home printed scenery glued on.The mountains are made of shaped metal screen coated with drywall Compound. The outside track is 054 and the inside and mountain is 042. .

I have a almost new M10000 set and it is not lighted......Did Marx make the set you are running with lighting? or, did you or someone else add lighting to your M10000?.....Thanks
I have 2 sets, one engine came with lighting that has the bigger motor, but the lighting in the cars have been added. The nonlighted engine came with the smaller motor. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the reply. If you added the lighting to the M10000; maybe you might consider doing a video showing us Marx people who are also lighting nuts; how to light a Marx set. It would be very informative........Thanks@@stevesoscaletrainchannel.1901
Someone else added the bulbs in the cars. I added banana plugs between each car allowing the cars to be separated. Amazon offers some small stick on LED strips that would easier than actual light bulbs. Hope that helps, thank you.@@garfieldisgod
