If there is a kickstarter campaign to raise funds to release a "Sing Crimson" album, I will contribute in a Heartbeat. Jaw dropping work on every track, but this is other worldly
I am mesmerized, still under the spell, I wish you could record and release a « Sing Crimson » album as requested by some other people, I would gladly contribute. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Before clicking on a random link in a KC comment section, I hated a capella. I think because of the flamboyance. But this performance sounds more religious or reverent, I love it! Great job
Just got here by way of Mr. Robert Fripp himself. This resonates with me in a way that goes way deeper than a "cover", however good: it's music distilled to its purest form, transcending even the physicality of instruments.
This is a lovely, astonishing rendition, true in execution and pure of heart. I've been listening to KC for 50 years, and this makes me feel like there is hope in the world that beauty can survive. Thanks a bundle.
Petra you floor me but none more so when you do Belew era Crimson The middle section, with you voicing the tight chords of the guitar synths is just stunning. Otherworldly
Fantastic. I was especially waiting for your rendering of Adrian's descents from around 3:10. It's all there. Now, looking forward to this being recreated live on stage.
Can’t even imagine how difficult this was. One of my favorite albums with this being one of the favorite songs on this favorite albums. Well done, so good .
Wow! This brings out a very interesting new dynamic in this wonderful Crimson piece. I agree with some of the other comments here that an album of a-cappella versions of Crimson pieces would be well worth buying. Well done indeed!!!
What wonderful music to wake up to this cool Sunday morning. The song Sheltering Sky was absolutely unlike anything else when it was first released. This version is a surprising delight that makes one remember the goodness of the sky, the purpose of music, to uplift and sustain. I'm dancing around the kitchen waiting for the coffee to brew with my wee dog. Bah chemtrails, hello sheltering dome.
Amazing. I now have three favorite versions of this song. The original KC record, your a cappella version, and the version I just heard a few days ago at the BEAT show in Durham. The original always a great organic+mechanical vibe to it. Your version shows the organic sides important role in integrating the mechanical. The BEAT version, especially the Vai solos add an element of “organic by way of talking with alien birds” to the aesthetic which I enjoyed immensely. Great work!

I love the original version of this KC tune, named for a novel by Paul Bowles. THIS takes it to a whole 'nother level; 8 min 25 sec of blissful transcendence. Bless your dear heart Petra.
Wow, and furthermore , WOOOOOOW!!!!! Kudos!!!!! I saw the link and I IMMEDIATELY went.."WHAT"? How can you do "The Sheltering Sky" A CAPELLA???"...well, this is a MASTERPIECE..and , you NAILED EVERYTHING...ESPECIALLY Fripp's solo, which is NOT EASY!!!...
Exceptional, what else to say?.... So you posted this 4 years ago and today is the first time I've heard it, brilliant, thanks, I love the live version from Frejus so it was with some trepidation that I hit play on yours, but I'm very glad I did....
one of the most incredible things i've ever listened to. my dad recommended the orignal song to me and i haven't been able to stop listening to it ever since, and this version is absolutely stunning. the downward slide around 4:40 gets me every single time.
What a gift thank you. I woke up this morning and this was at the top of the recommendations. I often listen to the live version of The Sheltering Sky.
Fascinante. Estoy escuchando está versión a capela del Rey Crimson y alucino. Magnifica, impresionante. No le falta detalle. Quien conozca el original y escuché esta versión no podrá jamás elegir una u otra como favorita. Sencillamente inconmensurable. Bravo Petra Haden!
Comin' back here a few years after finding this. It still brings tears to my eyes from how beautiful it is. This song has always resonated with me somehow, and it always makes me think that if the Northern Lights could make a sound, it would be this. Beautiful wintery sounds
You've gotta be crazy to try and succeed in covering all these King Crimson's songs. Being a musician myself, I have a pretty good idea of the amount of work it takes to achieve this. Congratulations for your excellent work and God Bless.
Thanks for recording this! Your version highlights things I never heard in the original - now I'll have to go back and listen to hear all those details. Darn... On another note, this recording reminds me of Steve Reich's You Are Variations - no, it's not the same as The Sheltering Sky, but they both create a similar feeling which is hard to describe. It's like I'm hearing something deep but I can't really say what that something is.
I fell in love with your voice :) So genius ! Please keep on with that work i hope you will reach more people !. You bring so much warmth and joy in these kinda cold and thoughtful King Crimson tracks. Thank you for made me listen to this song with so much smile on my face, very untypical for me when listening to King Crimson :)
Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words. 🙏 I’m working on an Acappella King Crimson album. This song and some others will be on it. It’s almost done. I’ll keep you posted when it’s available. Thank you so much for your support!
If I were an old timey sailor, this is what Sirens would sing. And even in knowing I would still steer toward the rock.
Crimson is the classical music of our time, its material has a versatility beyond the imagination of most of us. Thanks for taking me there.
Your comment is above words. Thank you!
Classical music? I think you mean classic progressive/art rock.
@@drd-collegechemistry it's the same.
@@lillone0 Uhm, not really. Don't get me wrong, I am a lover of both.
@@drd-collegechemistry Rock is the classical music of the 20th century. I love too both (but above all Bach).

Best acapella version of any song I've ever heard, period. Just completely brilliant work.
This is so true
👍
now The Sheltering Sky has its own Angels' Choir. Petra, you're fantastic.
I nearly cried listening to this. Wow, as a DIE-HARD fan of this song, this is like...this is...I cannot describe.... Thanks!

Same. This is brilliant and such a good idea (I have to say it: I don't like so much covers 😁)
thank you Petra...and thank you UA-cam for showing me the best of the best. Case in point above...

Eerie and beautifully recreated. Absolutely incredible.

Always one of their most beautiful pieces... this version is perhaps more beautiful. Thanks, it's always a wonder to be moved by music

this is the most incredible performance I've ever heard. I am beyond flabbergasted, brilliant!!!!!
I AM in complete awe of your brilliance here ,literally speechless .
Your interpretations of King Crimson continue to astound!!!
I think this is your best efford. This song is my all time favourite from KC. And you nailed it. Beautifull
Beautiful, tonally perfect, beautifully phrased and a once that caresses the heart, her other Crimson stuff is beautiful too! I’m in love.

Beautiful! Once again you picked one of my Crimson favorites.
I saved this a few yrs ago, just revisiting..wow!
Best thing ever on you tube I think now, it blew me away.
excellente! You did well to capture the Middle Eastern feel this song has to it!
Sublime. I don’t recall Crimson ever choking me up like your version. Much gratitude.
Technically perfect, yes, but it captures the soul of the piece. This is transcendent. This is why music exists.
Superb! What an amazing alternate version of an amazing track. Perfect!
