You made them look good honestly I’m With you on the cleanup procedure. Just looks a lot nicer then the old rusty looking ones! Even if you don’t see them.
I appreciate this video. Many years ago in installed a set of 215 injectors in my 160 hp motor . I remember back when guys were installing some injectors out of a 370 hp marine motor but I just wanted mileage and being able to tow .
I appreciate the explanation, I'm giving my first set of injectors a shot on my own hoping it clears up some smoking issues. So far it looks like there is definitely a lot of carbon buildup and crap on them, not to mention the fact that the last guy put the injectors in 180° in the wrong orientation haha
@@CUTTERUPROB Also I got a couple questions. I read online that the torque spec for the nozzles is 28 foot pounds? Also, on cylinder 4 and 6 injectors there is only one shim instead of two like the rest. Should I be concerned? I'm wondering if the last guy lost them? Do the shims just set how far the actual nozzle sticks out into the cylinder? 96 12 Valve 215 hp P pump.
@@CUTTERUPROB You would also make my day if you could tell me what is causing this whirling sound. It's been bugging me for months, on the forums one guy says it's an oil pump gear, and another guy is saying it is the injection pump gear lash. It's more annoying than anything and I know it probably won't hurt the engine. Your videos are my most trusted sources of information at the moment, and I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. ua-cam.com/video/OiEyQYdZjSk/v-deo.html
Well Cutter. Got the injectors back in. Now one leaks around the hold down nut. I’m getting frustrated. Lol. How the f can you get those to stop leaking. Other day there was 3 leaking. Took all apart. Cleaned up the holes. Made sure all the washers were the same. All went back good. Didn’t leak for like 15 minutes of running. Drove home from shop. Open hood and number 3 is leaking. I’m like stomped rite now. What am I doing wrong sir. Thank you for your time and videos.
I juwt bought a set of rebuilt ducky injectors and hate how beat up the bodies are, i have a set of factory injectors in my 12 valve, can i take the internals and swao them to my clean injector bodies? The injectors i bought are 5x12 sac
I still have my injector tips I bought. Video was really helpful as what to do for cleaning them up. I dont have the ultrasonic clean would the carb chem dip work?
Very informational! I have an 03 common rail Cummins and I just put injectors in it for the third time (Napa reman) and they are rattling pretty bad. Is the injector nozzle wore out or the body? Or the solenoid on top?
How do you set/adjust the pop pressure? Is it mechanical setting off the shims? I’m new to diesels just trying to soak up some knowledge here. Great video thanks for your time rob!
I've been looking for a video on pop pressures. I don't see one but you said it depends on what your doing, I would be nice to know when one would like lower or higher pop pressures, especially as it relates to black diesel. Thanks. Always enjoy mining your videos for information
So I took my stock injectors and took them apart and cleaned up real good. Curious as to why the nozzles are bad. What makes them bad. The nozzle holes get clogged? They all sprayed good. I installed them into truck. Ran good. Just 2 of them were leaking around hold down nut. I’m gona take apart this morning. I did go with a smaller washer. Maybe that’s why it’s leaking. Learning as I go along basically. Truck smoked so I put new valve seals in and new springs. Runs great. No smoke at all. So that’s fixed. But damn injector was leaking. So after that fix she good to go.
The seat and pintle get worn and leak. Also the pop pressure gets lower as they wear. On the leak. Make sure the bore in the head is clean and add 10foot pounds to the nozzle but torque
Nice Tim Horton's cup in the background. Hehhehe Great vid, Rob! I'm doing my 93 12valve's injectors (first timer) in Nelson, BC. I'm too poor to buy new ones. I'd try to buy just the nozzle if I can get a good deal anywhere. If I can't afford nozzles, you think I'll be able to get the old ones clean? Got any tricks to getting the old nozzles clean? Thanks again, dood!
@@CUTTERUPROB just bought a popper. I'm going to try to use diesel as a fluid. I'm assuming that'd skew the expected pop values a bit. I'm hoping that as long as they're all the same value and all have a good pattern that I'll be more or less okay. What do you think?
By the way what torque did you run on those? I check these forums out and there are so many different answers when it comes to torque specs. I’ve been writing them down. So the stock injectors are a 260 bar and those 150HP ones I told you about are 262 bar. But I did notice a bigger spray pattern in the ones I bought over the stock ones for sure. Also do you know what would cause them to leak in and around the hold down. What torque spec do you put those at. I heard like 45 but some people have ran them down more to stop it leaking. I could ask all kinds of questions lol. Thanks again buddy.
Ok at first time I torqued to 45. And 3 leaked. I did today at 50 lbs and one was leaking. Thank you for responding. Sense I had the injector lines off I went ahead and put the DV’s in to. But guess I ll take the lines off again tomorrow. I ll torque them down to 55. And take the one that is leaking and clean the bore out a little more. I pray this works. Thank you again. Look fwd to your videos.
So towards the end of the video, you mentioned cross flow leakage. What is an acceptable amount? Your gauge was showing some leaking as the pressure was dropping. I have that same pop tester, but never realized how many times you could pop the injector just rotating the knob. Mine is hard to turn, but then I use diesel fuel, not the calibration oil. Enjoyed the video!
If you have cross leaks it will come out the return. As for the leak down my tester now that I have start using it all the time has got a internal leak I have to fix.
just purchased and installed some new reman'd 5x.012 sac injectors in my 12 valve. One of them is leaking back up through the hold down nut. What would cause this? Ive moved it from No.3 cyl to No.2 and so on to make sure it is this particular injector. Was it not rebuilt correctly ? Cap not torqued correctly. If so what should it be? Where could it be leaking from? Thanks for any advice!

I answered below
I love how you ignored the disaster you kicked on the floor lol. I would've been cussing.
I was cursing. Just did on camera. I throw all the junk away right after that. I really need a bigger room
@@CUTTERUPROB lol I figured. Great videos man. You've helped me a lot.

You can but you need to check the pop pressure after you do
Is there a difference between 7mm intercooled and 9mm non intercooled injector shims? Thanks!
great job bro i am inpired. how much do you charge to rebuild them i have a set of 5 for a cummins 6.7 ISB engine. can i send them to you from US?
I like how this pops up after i just installed a set of stage 2 DDP injectors in my VE cummins swapped 68 f250 4x4
great vid where can you get some of them shims from please ie a selection thank you
thats a hard thing, i buy mine from my bosch dealer and it wasnt a kit
I still have my injector tips I bought. Video was really helpful as what to do for cleaning them up. I dont have the ultrasonic clean would the carb chem dip work?
Yep. That will work just make sure to get the clean after
What fluid do you recommend using for my pop tester I’m doing 150hp nozzles on stock bodies. Also what should they pop at ?
I use calibration fluid. But you can you diesel fuel. Depends the setup for a 12v
Ppump 270-280 is common. But you want them 1 bar with in each other
What grit sand paper or lapping stone do you use for the intermediate plate?
400grit is what I use
Very informational! I have an 03 common rail Cummins and I just put injectors in it for the third time (Napa reman) and they are rattling pretty bad. Is the injector nozzle wore out or the body? Or the solenoid on top?
Hard to tell. But most of the times with non Bosch remans the specs / parts are no good and that why they rattle
@@CUTTERUPROB I figured as much. Thank you for the reply! I look forward to your load Star 1600 build!
How do you set/adjust the pop pressure? Is it mechanical setting off the shims? I’m new to diesels just trying to soak up some knowledge here. Great video thanks for your time rob!
It is. You want more pressure you add shim. Less pull some out. Really very simple

When I get the dyno I will be doing some videos about this. But I like higher pop
@@CUTTERUPROB Again I love your videos, and I'm sure you will mention it but do you need to advance the timing a bit for higher pressures?

What would cause a injector to not pop? Let's say you rebuilt a set of injectors with new nozzles and some didn't pop, what would you look at?
Pintle stuck or cross leaks.
This might be a dumb question but can you explain the injector HP ...is that 90hp over stock ? How does that work ?
it's all about flow of the injector, do it as lets say 50hp injectors really is a bad way as it depends on alot of diff stuff on the power level
Do first gen and second gen have similar injectors?
Yep. The ve ( first gen ) has 12mm thread on top and the ppump has 14mm on top and a different pop pressure
Nice Tim Horton's cup in the background. Hehhehe

I've always wondered, when you say 90hp injectors, what does that refer to? Hp rating of one injector? So multiplied by 6 would be a 450hp engine?
90hp over stock on the engine horse power but it's not really the greatest way to rate them. working on that
Where is your shop located
I am in Calgary Alberta
Good video
