Ahhhh man.......Brings me to tears every single time, particularly this version...the epitomy of Soul. Thank You brothers! Damn, can hardly write this.
Mr. Sanders killed it! You can see that he was brought up in the church with his style. However there is NO ONE like Teddy P. Harold should not have been so greedy and give the man what he wanted.
Gil was my friend. I have been to his managers house Paula for dinner with him. I wa FM radio DJ with Blues show. I also announced the LIVE music gigs and went out to support them. I was blessed to have seen Gil many times. I was just thinking of him and looked up his performances.
2 of these guys,Harold Melvin (far right) & Dwight Johnson (far left) have deceased. I'm not sure what ever happened to Bill Spratley (left) he left the group never to be heard from since. Rufus Thorne (right) still sings with the current line-up (Harold Melvin's Blue Notes) Gilbert Saunders went solo. All of the current group except one member sung with Harold before he passed, they are Harold Melvin's last group of Blue Notes and they are STRONG as ever. The sound is still there.
Hi Gilberto, the latest group of "Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes" is now a 4 man group because my friend and mentor Harold Melvin died in 2001. They never filled his spot in the line-up. They now perform as "Harold Melvin's Blue Notes". They also bought back the female that recorded a few albums with them (Sharon Paige)
At least Harold Melvin IS with this group! The current line up is getting all of the work, but I don't think any of them actually sang with Harold Melvin himself. these guys did a great job, where did this DVD come from?
@phillylistens i was going to write the same thing... but, his name was always first as if he wasn't a blue note, but the lead singer... which he rarely was... atleast not past their early days before teddy came along.
@gbreppin Just too bad he's the one who recently died (about a month of 5 I roughly guess) An old song from which I have to admit I didn't not like this style those day's at all but everyone can change..... A true gem as song and well performed, incl age etc

Timeless music and performance. It is one of the great soul ballads of all time. Thanks for posting it.
Love you Harold Melvin fell in love with soul 1970 xxx

RIP Harold, Blackie (Dwight) and Bill. So sorry I did not get a chance to say good-bye but the memories will be with me forever...

I agree, nobody sings it like Teddy.
RIP Gil Saunders.
He's not Teddy Pendergrass but he definitely can handle the vocals spot on. Kudos!!

The Lead singer actually sounds kind of dry...
Good knock off, but not The Blue Notes 🎵, missing Lloyd Parks or Jerry Cummings. Only living members. But still a good job 👍
Quem é o Vocalista ? Teddy Pendegrass ?
these are not the real blue notes not a one of them
HAROLD MELVIN IS ONE OF the ORIGINAL BLUENOTES DO YOUR RESEARCH
He said Bluenotes / not Harold Melvin
