Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes - The Love I Lost (Unreleased Moulton Remix)
Вставка

- Tom Moulton's fabulous remix of Teddy's masterpiece. When Tom cut the final mix, there was a prominent conga line that starts at 5:16, which you can hear on this HD version. Because of a labeling problem, this version was never mastered and the version that was released on Tom's Philly Remix album was not the one Tom had planned....no congas. That mix is only available on this UA-cam channel, thanks to my friend Tom's generosity.
The younger generation will never understand!
Just Brilliant. I lived during this time of good music. I appreciate what we had in the world of music. I shared it with my children. I will never forget how music like this influenced my life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yup. My two adult sons love Teddy, Kool and the Gang, K C and the Sunshine Band, etc..
There will never be another MAN with A VOICE LIKE HIS . For as long as his songs are played he will live on
Oh my God; That song is a masterpiece .The beginning of this song is magnificent. The organ,guitar- wow. Know that had to win some Grammys.
oh Teddy rip
If it did not it should have.
@@learnpianofastonline Good Soul Music of the 70s was so great and plentiful …the competition was steep
@@Swoop2565 SO glad I was there! 70's R&B and Soul has ALWAYS filled my soul!❤
Although the song reached RIAA Gold (1m copies,) it never won nor was nominated for a Grammy.
Real voices, real musicians, real instruments, no sampling, no computer generated bs....the 70's gave u the real deal...rip Teddy...🎺🎶🎻🆒
The culture was going to church. Respect for God. Doing their best. Today, God is an afterthought. People living for themselves. Love themselves more than love God. Bible said these days would come. Now we're here. Last days. Repent.

THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPRESS MY SINCERE APPRECIATION THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PROFESSIONALISM
MEMORABLE UNFORGETTABLE UNBELIEVABLE INCREDIBLE REMARKABLE PHENOMENAL.
"We loved each other - we just couldn't get along."
How many of us can relate? Letting go was the hardest thing I ever had to do.
Oh I remember it well, best hate sex I ever had. But then we'd make up and ruin everything.
I can relate
Moulton invented the 12" single as well, by sheer accident. An engineer ran out of 7" discs for a test copy to give Moulton for his usual fix/mix magic. So the engineer used a 10" platter. Moulton thought it looked ridiculous to have a three minute song scrunched up at the edge and told the engineer to redo it with wider grooves. As soon as Moulton heard it, it was a revelation: Wider grooves made the lows and highs more distinct. Extended singles became industry practice almost immediately.
I consider myself privileged to have experienced the 1970's music and disco scene.
I can't count the times I've said that
same here

you are privileged. not only thanks to those musics but i use to say that the 70's where the best era of human kind... there was enough space for dreams, love and music... now whe don't have no more dreams, no more love and of course no more music... thx to those sounds that helps going on and sometimes dream.. of a better world... but we will need music, that kind...

Those of us who were fortunate to have lived this era were truly blessed. Absolute perfection.

One of the best songs ever for me! This tune slips through my skin, flesh and bones then touches my soul. Can't listen to this without getting emotional.

Unbearable heartbreak set to a soaring groove. Matchless and monumental.
one of the few songs in my 50 years of living, that still brings a tear to my eye....can feel teddys pain in this one
MOM rest in peace ,,you were the greatest love i ever lost !!
Harold Melvin came from a time of excellence in all things. You didn't get a recording contract unless you had the chops to make it. You didn't get a hit unless you had a great sound, great production, fantastic backing musicians, the right look and the personality...AND of course, talent. What has happened is that drugs took over the industry.. and they didn't care about quality...Music today is depressing..just horrible noise. Those who don't remember the golden age of music...........probably the mid 50s to the mid 70s give or take, simply don't understand that there was a time just before them when everything went right. Life itself was a glorious thing to behold, and the music reflected it. Sad to say, it will not return............those who remember it, cherish those times. Those new to this music, consider yourselves lucky to be able to hear it on You Tube.
On point and well said.
And nowadays have zero talent , if you have a pc and a pair of softwares you can "make music " ; it´s a pity...
So many of these great musicians gone before their time 😢
The love I lost, we all can relate, it was a good love.
Wow it has everything a song should have. A great voice, a heart felt lyric, and a great music sound track. What the hell has gone wrong with music.
Wow those were the days. It is just so GREAT to hear classics like this song with Teddy P. Those days are gone but the music lives on forever. I sure miss those days.

Being a white guy from Detroit living in Texas I miss the music of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. Harold is such a wonderful singer with a smooth powerful voice.
Actually, the lead singer on this (and most Harold Melvin tracks) is Teddy Pendergrass.
But Teddy was unbelievable
Teddy left us too soon...before his time

One of the best intros ever. Still get chills.
The Philadelphia Sound dominated the best disco musical productions in the 70's....period!!.

Beautifully said lioness...nice pic too
Got that right, sisters. The orchestral instruments behind the throbbing drums and bass guitars was heavenly............especially at the bridge...then the ending rising crescendo...My heavens, it was enough to take your breath away.
The house band MFSB are the backbone of the Philly sound. The same group of musicians are also members of Vince Montana’s Salsoul Orchestra. They’re the Disco version of Hal Blaine’s Wrecking Crew, and Motown’s Funk Brothers of the 60’s.
A unique soulful voice and legendary artist within Soul and R&B. This song is a masterpiece by definition. The mix by Mr. Tom Moulton is world class and the song feels and sounds like it’s recorded 2021. Philly Sound was, is and will always be my number One choice of music with a Message. MFSB. When I was a kid we had the Beatles and musical groups on that order. My parents would ask us how we could listen to that noise. In the 70's and 80's we had the Tops and Temps, Harold Melvin with Teddy, the Stylistics, Dramatics and on and on. I bought all of their cassettes. Then CD's came out and I spent a fortune on them. When my neices and nephews heard my collection they said, how can you listen to that noise. They listen to rap music. I echo my parents. How do you listen to that noise? We have to live with our memories of our music. Everytime I hear those songs it brings back those great memories that we all should cherish. I do whether it's a mix or an original!
I am right with you. We were so blessed to be there when it was all fresh and happening. No other generation will experience what we did. Too bad.

@@lacrosse6261 Rap demeans women in the most vile way, is pro-violence and is geared to the uneducated and stupid masses, compliments of the corrupt school system that seeks to dumb down the kids....(easier to control if you're dumb). It is an abomination, this rap.........and you know what it rhymes with...as you say...CRAP.
@@bethvirginiaphillips4583 Hi Beth. I understand that you may have been exposed to a great deal of generic modern rap which has understandably left quite a bitter taste in your mouth, but PLEASE try not to tar all Rap/Hip Hop with that same brush. There's a whole world of meaningful, insightful hip hop music out there. I have learnt valuable lifelong lessons from this music - How to treat women with respect and dignity from sounds like "Royalty" by Gang Starr , wise lyrics speaking on methods of empowering our communities and uplifting our people by teachers like KRS One and Common. Artists like J Dilla taught me how to feel strong emotions through melody at an early age. There's more to it than what's shown on the TV and played on the radio.
@@Dangizzle I guess what sounds good to someone may sound like fingernails on the blackboard noise to another. It is all a matter of personal preference. While I'm sure Rap is enjoyed by many in the Black community, I still prefer Motown, Brit Invasion.........and a whole array of 1960s sounds. We just had so much to choose from in that fabulous decade....from Dean Martin to the East Coast sounds of the Four Seasons, legitimate country, jazz...it was all there in the sixties like going to a fine buffet and choosing whatever original new sound was there on a given day. It was brilliant. I guess I will never be into Rap but do appreciate and honor your choice in music. That's what America is about....and speaking of the group America, I still love them! Now that's pretty music.
The sound of Philly was the greatest

By far one of the best remix jams I have ever heard! Smooth blend of tracks that we have not heard on the radio or the albums. You are right droopusmaximus...Moulton is a bad dude. Been remixing longer than anybody. FYI... those that do not know he invented the REMIX in the good ole 70's. I truly hope REAL music like this does not get ignored and buried. Would be such a shame. Music like this makes you smile, makes you move, makes you think, gets down in your heart and soul. You just feel it.

Tom Moulton did a masterpiece of remixing this song .
He did!!
He sure did. We know there was a Philadelphia Classics the first volume. Too bad there wasn’t a volume 2. This song would’ve been perfect on the album. Nothing like hearing the classic Philly sounds. We all know the artists, but let’s not forget the backbone of the great Philadelphia sounds. The house band MFSB, they became the East coast answer that comes across between Motown’s Funk Brothers, and California’s Wrecking Crew. Special thanks to Earl Young on the drums, Vince Montana on Vibes, Norman Harris on Guitar, and many others that made the Philly Sounds famous, and they helped put Disco on the mainstream.
