😂😂😂 Over the hump , as it were. Thank you mate . Got a few of your vids on my watch list. Will have a look see soon . Have a fantastic festive season 🏕👍🎄
Thanks Hardy . Yes mate tri pi is handy for the Lavvu mate and maybe a few other things to . There were quite a few lights about up there for a while . I think they were horse riders , loads of hoof prints and scuffed ground in the morning ( didn't notice it on way in 🤔) . Hope you're good have a lovely Christmas with the family mate and hopefully catch up in the new year 👌🏕🎅🎄
Thanks buddy . Yes me to . Don't mind the long nights but can be very long if you've got to be a little stealthy . Lovely if you can do a bells and whistles set up with a big roaring fire though. Take care and happy Christmas 🎄 👍
Thank you kind Sir. It was a nice camp and comfortable setup. Not ideal for long distance hiking but good if your only doing a few miles . Have a great Christmas 🎄 🏕👍
Thank you . Yes mate glad I persevered to mate . Was a good night in the end . That setup was very comfortable. Would've been nice to have a big ole fire outside but was happy ( after freaky hour 🤣) . Take it easy and have a peaceful happy Christmas 🎄 🏕👌
Thanks for a nice video and the effort in making it. As for the long nights - I always take a small radio and something strong to drink. I think my favourite shelter would be the half Lavvu as I like to be partly open to the elements, but the full Lavvu is excellent. 👍
Thank you. Great suggestion on dealing with the long nights. I generally like to be open to the elements to . Usually under a tarp . Was a chilly night couldn't have a big fire so went with the Lavvu. Comfy 👍. Take care and have a nice Christmas 🎄 🏕👍
Nice one Mark, looked like a nice camp in the lavvu. I imagine your candle and oil lanterns warmed that up quite nicely. I know what you mean about freaky hour, I've had one or two instances that put you on edge for a bit, it's usually nothing though. Thanks as always for sharing 👍
Cheers Gavin . Yes mate the candle and lantern definitely take the edge off and the little bushbox got it quite toasty in there. The old canvas held the heat and was cosy mate. Yeah , freaky hour usually passes . Take care and have a cracking Christmas 👌🎄🏕
Cool video mark, really enjoyed it, I rather like the long nights, can be a bugger setting up in the dark, but I take a book or 2, or kindle/audio books on my phone (all tend to be ecology/bushcraft/nature etc), so plenty to keep busy, and if I can, learn some new craft skills, you always seem to have a iffy hr or so on your solo camps lol, really enjoy your camps, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Thanks Craig . Thats nice to hear mate. Yep often seem to get a spell of doubt and things going on 😂.. Thats a good shout about the long dark nights mate . Hope you're good bud and hope you enjoy the festive season . 🎄👌🏕
Thank you bud. Yes mate , been lucky enough to have a great Festive period . Hope you have too mate. Back to the grindstone now though 😠. Take care fella 🏕👌
Another nice camp Mark. Always a b****r when you get a ‘freaky hour’ but as you say, things usually calm down as the night draws on. You got a great pitch with the Lavvu and it looked like there was loads of room inside. I know what you mean about the long dark nights and short days. I’ve started to try and get some kindle books on to my phone using the kindle app. You summed these winter nights up well with your expression - ‘tent bound’. Wish you and all yours the very best for the holidays and the new year Mate. Cheers 😊👍
Thank you Giles yes mate the tent bound thing can make the night seem very long mate . I think the kindle thing sounds a great idea . Was also thinking of a few little projects to do . Things like tool maintenance, carving and stuff. Not that creative in that way though so a good book or story sounds perfect. Loved the setup ,canvas is excellent for these colder months . Have a lovely Christmas mate . Take care 👌🎄🏕
Nice one , that canvas looks like it’s a good cold wind soaker upper , last Saturday I forgot my trangia - but fortunately had packed the firebox nano as a holder , saved the day .Have a nice Christmas Mate and thanks for all the effort and time you put in making these films ,all the best Mick
Thanks Mick . Yes mate I do like the canvas for the colder weather when possible . Nightmare when you head off and forget stuff 🙄. A couple of weeks ago I forgot to fill my water bottle and left my stove on the table. Luckily managed with a little fir and some filtered water from a river . Thanks for watching and for the words of encouragement. Much appreciated. Have a awesome Christmas and take care 🏕👌🎄
I always like your vids Mark, they make me smile, I feel very chilled out whilst watching, it's like having a very relaxing massage with Bob Harris as a soundtrack 😎 👍😁 Never slept in one of those canvas jobbies... It looks too much hassle to set up... but... but warmer than a Nylon 👍 ENJOYED MATE 👍
Thank you Lee . That's much appreciated mate. Do like the canvas for the winter mate . Has its pros and cons as I'm sure you know . I think setting up is easier when you get more familiar with the thing . I had a nightmare with it when I camped with Mr. Tempest but its easier with the tri pi or the pole in the middle. Look after yourself and have a nice Crimbo 👌 🎄🎅🏕
Great channel buddy, I've seen quite a few of your videos now and I'm a recent subscriber. I hope you keep doing what you do, always a pleasure to watch 😊. Anyway I won't ramble on, you have a merry Christmas and a very happy new year 🥂 ✨️ 😊
Thank you so much , thats really encouraging to hear . I do go off at a bit of a tangent and the vids never seem to come out how I envisage them . Have a cracking Christmas 🎄 🏕👍.
Freaky Hour is always a fun time. Do I stay, do I go? My pack is always on the heavier side, so if I went canvas, I would probably kill myself with the extra weight 😄 Merry Christmas mate and see on here in the new year!
Yes freaky hour 🤪 😂. Mate , don't know what the pack weighed but it was heavy enough. Worth it for the comfort in camp though ..Have a good Christmas. Eat, drink and be merry mate 🎄🏕👍
It is. Once I figured how long the poles need to be i just cut a piece of paracord to the same length and use that to measure. Thanks for watching 👌 Take care .
@@treksntarps I will try that this week once the rain is over and for sure I will do the Paracord trick to save me some time. Thank you for the info. Happy Holidays!!!
Good video man, making me want to get the bivvy out and head off. Is that a fabled bearskin hoodie you have there and if so do you rate it? I'm looking for a new fleece layer.
Hello mate . Thanks for watching. No its not the bearskin ( been asked that before) . Its the Helikon tex patriot fleece. Its nice and warm but if its really windy the wind can cut through it a bit so a windproof layer might be needed . I like it though. Its got some handy pockets and zips for venting. Dont know how it compares to the bearskin mate. Take care and have a good festive season 🎄🏕👍
@@treksntarps Knew it...I did Battlecamp and Escape and Evasion exercises there in the army in the 80's. ;-) We had the RAF join us and we patrolled the forest at night with our night vision on the old SA80's. Amazing what/who you can see with that. 😉🤣
Winter solstice tomorrow, then we are heading for summer with long balmy days and short nights. Thats what i am thinking anyway😁👍👍
😂😂😂 Over the hump , as it were. Thank you mate . Got a few of your vids on my watch list. Will have a look see soon . Have a fantastic festive season 🏕👍🎄
Great camp mate, like the tri pi. Always amazes me how busy the woods can be after dark..... Atb. Hardy

You are more than welcome . It is a very handy bit of kit . Love it . Have a good Christmas 🎄 👍🏕

I just got a stick, lined it up from the peak down a seem and to the bottom of the Lavvu. Dont know the measurement . Hope this helps 👍
