Well, taking into consideration the game bought for $2 that was selling for $20, there seems to be enough room for profit for him. And Caleb usually buys enough to make it worth it for a day of sales
The thing is the store owner? probably bought them for 1-5 dollars. And since they take up shelvespace and he can get 10-15 or whatnot in a bulk sale he will just do it. He earn 0 from having them sit on the shelves. As long as the offers are not way too low it should be fine.
He's a cool guy. I go in there infrequently and he has always remembered me by name, and pick up our conversation from the last time. But it's that interaction that makes me want to pay whatever he wants me to. Also, as a side note, he had a copy of the Guy Game. Made me so sad I couldn't afford it at the time. 🥲
I actually visit this store biweekly. It's across town from me. Dude that owns the place is laid back and has up to date prices memorized at all times. I believe the store started as a joint games collection and sprouted into a business to sell off excess. Regardless, it's the only place I go if there's something specific I want, in confidence I can find it. Especially as a 6th gen collector. It's awesome to see this. Hope you liked your visit bud!
I used to love that universal studios game!!! it honestly hurts watching these sometimes because at one point, I had all these games and probably traded them in for like 5 dollars store credit lol!! OUCH

A friend of mine referred me to your videos and I love your hustle and content! Honestly has been a dream of mine to collect all my childhood favorite gamecube games and other consoles! Unfortunately I got flooded out during Hurricane Ida and lost a huge chunk of my games and consoles :/ Honestly though based off your awesome finds, it gives me hope that one day I can collect all my childhood favorites! I think you should add more games to the challenge after you finish this one. That or you could always start another series for a different console but at this point a full Gamecube set seems obtainable!

Almost there! This is an A1 series for sure. Collect-A-Con in Charlotte, NC coming up June 4th & 5th may be worth checking out for trying to find some tougher titles. Can’t wait for it!

If the store owner spent 2 dollars on that game sells it for 15 and you also have enough to make 15 that owner isn't leveraging his inventory to open up an online store to double his profits.
Its not that easy, online means you have to spend time packaging, driving to the post office, dealing with returns and scammers who bait and switch. Not to mention phoenix probably sits on his inventory a while at his prices which doesn't free up as much capital.

Also returns are the same in store or online. The buyer has to pay the shipping fee not the seller so that point doesn’t matter.

Guess who ends up paying shipping in those cases. If you haven't run into that ever I'm guessing you run a small operation or don't sell much in general.

There’s a store here in Hot Springs, AR called Retro Video Games that has a fairly good selection across all generations of gaming systems that you may can check out.
It’s crazy the value of some of these games, I recall playing them not too long ago on the GameCube and I always kept them in nice condition and then I just didn’t have time to play it anymore and my parents or myself would just give the console away with the games and stuff or even just throw them out. Crazy how life works
It’s kinda nice that we have different UA-camrs going after different game challenges at the same time. (Retro Rick going after N64 Collection). Gives a bit of variety to see who gets farther in their pursuit of Retro Gaming Glory!

Hey Phoenix something I'll say is someone i know that was a collector of magic the gathering when it came out has found is that the way you are with game stores, talking openly about how much you'd make, and allowing them in a way to understand your own margins, while also getting rid of inventory they don't need so they can make room for more is how the owners of card shops treat collectors when they come, it's also something that they know allows for them to have a consistent business partner Tho I will also say it's alot easier to do that with stores when you've been reselling for years because of lack of confidence and knowledge on how to figure out proper pricing (Amazon makes that easier than most)
I like your point about being upfront about your deals. I feel like a lot of people hide their intentions when buying to try and get better deals, but that doesn't help build a good connection with the seller if they catch a lie.

I think one thing people don’t consider with a store front owner is that they do have some different incentives when selling. Yeah they gotta make a profit but they spend much less on most games since people usually just bring stuff in that they want to get rid of and want anything for. But also it’s better to have a good amount of turnaround to the shelves for the people who come in and buy frequently. It means clearing space for new games and creating a sense that games you saw last time might be gone so get them this time. Also Caleb does a lot of bulk business so Ryan is probably more willing to do a larger deal since he’s still making a good profit. Overall I think this is just good honest business and I appreciate his transparency with shop owners!

So how does this kind of video game resale supply chain work? Is it not worth their time? The Game Exchange on Outer Loop here in Louisville had Disney Extreme Skate Adventure last time I was there about a week and a half ago. Would maybe be worth calling them and seeing if it's still avaliable.
What you need to do when the collect is complete is keep it and then hunt for pure upgrades in a new GameCube gambit. Then prove that all game all boxed /manualled at the end.
Flipping stuff to buy high priced games has been so much fun! I found a PC copy of Commander Keen for 3 dollars. Sold it for 1,900, and bought a copy of Pokemon Box for 1,700! Would have never been able to get it otherwise!

8:55 And wouldn't part of it also be the fact that you aren't selling in a video game store, you are selling on Amazon, its why you can but games from ebay sellers and make more money then them, despite doing the same thing, because Amazon the prices are different. You always make sure both sides are happy with the negotiations, you get a good deal to make more money on Amazon, they get (hopefully) more then what they paid and its off the shelf (especially valuable with how long some more niche titles sit there). And thats ignoring the "take a hit on profits to have a recurring large spender come back" side of it AND that certain large spender being a youtuber that advertises the place and owners to more people who would go in for more business side of it.

Because he’s a store owner. He wants to run a store. If he wanted the most profits he wouldn’t have a store at all and then sell online obviously.

8:55 And wouldn't part of it also be the fact that you aren't selling in a video game store, you are selling on Amazon, its why you can but games from ebay sellers and make more money then them, despite doing the same thing, because Amazon the prices are different.
You always make sure both sides are happy with the negotiations, you get a good deal to make more money on Amazon, they get (hopefully) more then what they paid and its off the shelf (especially valuable with how long some more niche titles sit there). And thats ignoring the "take a hit on profits to have a recurring large spender come back" side of it AND that certain large spender being a youtuber that advertises the place and owners to more people who would go in for more business side of it.

Not sure if you've heard of it but Metal Arms: Glitch in the system is one of my fave GC games, definitely worth a play.
To finish my gamecube collection it will cost between 12 n 1500 I wanted to do it for so long but u got me more excited to push for it
