@@REgamesplayer Not really. It's the gameplay that puts most people off. Heck, I've been playing for over 10 years and even I can't stand entire parts of the gameplay. Then some KV can snap show the top of your turret while moving and rotating. I'm sorry, but frick you on that one. The spotting and camo. The fact that you can have tanks literally sitting in the middle of a field with no brush and not get spotted is BS. You should be visible until you enter cover and then be unspotted. It's BS that tanks can shoot you behind cover and move back behind cover before the game graces you spotting them. The damaging parts of the tanks. I'm sorry, but shooting those useless hatches and gun ports continuously on the roof of a tank is retarded. It's a terrible gameplay mechanic and it makes certain nation's tanks (America and France) have a MASSIVE disadvantage and get NOTHING beneficial for some a huge drawback (All tanks that have huge hatches on the turret like that should have a MASSIVE view range advantage over ALL other tanks since that's what they were for).
I think WG might be about to release a bunch of tier 9 premiums if they are giving us this??? Give everyone a taste of high tier so the people who haven't got high tier tanks are more tempted to buy the expensive tier 9 premiums
I'm 90% sure you hit the mark there. I came across some youtube shorts of the new "Breakthrough SPG line" footage from the Russian test server, basically heavily armored TDs with indirect fire mechanics; a google translate of the comments later and how I understood it is the line will branch off and start at tier 9, knowing WG they introduce new tank mechanics via premiums first, so put two and two together right
I wonder if there's a chance, they might buff it a little after they've gathered some battle statistics for it. As a collector, I'll take the tank with thanks but I probably won't be playing more than a handful of games in it. It does give me hope that maybe we'll see the SU-122-54 maybe back in the game as a well deserved reward, as WG seems to be ready and willing to flood tier 9 with premium and reward vehicles now.
They know it is as bad as it is. It is a worse T54 heavy and that tank is a shitter. If they were going to buff it, they would have done it before release. This is only here to get people to return to the game and buy some boxes.
heavily doubt it, unless it is all casual players. Because veterans and good players will have watched tank reviews like this one and know not to bother with this tank. This tank has no novel gameplay or is fun in any way, so there is 0 reason to play it, unless you are a completionist who wants to 3-mark every tank.
@@robinkhn2547 Casual players are exactly who is going to fill the matchmaker with these tanks. one idea: since wg is adding so many strange mechanics recently, why not introduce one for some American tanks with huge cupolas: a function similar to binoculars, where when still the view range is good, but when moving, bad.
The experimental turbo works well for this tank, as you are almost killing two birds with one stone Increasing speed and improving the gun handling a bit
This is where experimental equipment might come in handy. I've slapped mine on the t30 and it works great to increase speed but also turning speed without the cost of dispersion, while costing only one slot. Even though t30 benefits more from the latter in terms of time spent aiming, 47 km/h is a lot different for a medium than 40 or 42 km/h. But then again, if WG truly wishes to gift, they should buff this thing a touch, even if it's just the armor or just the speed.
not sure why it wasn't compared with the american t54. seems like the closest thing in game to it. maybe "patton the tank" will also be able to win bonds? watching your reviews side-by-side was entertaining. not sure why the t54 got better camo than ptt. ah well here's to some interesting games...

Wargaming will do absolutely everything to make a tank pathetic if it's for free, while also doing absolutely everything to make a tank a mosnter if it's in holiday boxes (BZ-176)
All I think this tank needs is 20m extra view range and some better dispersion values and it would be a fair tier 9 prem and maybe remove that over match area on the lower side. It’s clear that WG rightly don’t want these new prems to compete with regular tier 9s (the same logic behind the old tier 8 prems). Also with the last point I feel that all tier 9 prems should make a little more money as there isn’t a reason to play them over tier 8 prems but that’s a different issue.
Its clear wargaming only want one thing and that is not to give people a good reward tank they might choose to play instead of buying an op premium. This should definitely be as good as regular techtree tanks. If it had anything to do with your point WG would have to nerve a lot of premiums or at least not make new ones as strong and they do seem to do everything but. Yes I'm looking at you Mr. BZ-176...
@@domin727 so my point on the reworks to the economy is to basically give players a choice. @@alphaxalex1634 You could do this and it would not be a bad idea per say, but that would require a rework of a ton of tanks. Wargaming dont show any intention to do any of this. They just want to troll their player base a bit while on the surface appearing generous.

Actually I'm fine with a free underpowered patton tank that could be buffed in the future, rathen then a big mistake from WG flooding the MM and ruining the game for everyone.
Yep my thoughts as well. Imo the only thing that's truly holding this thing back is the gun handling. Low dpm doesn't matter if you can at least hit your shots (WZ-114 for example has even worse gun handling but fantastic .33 accuracy. Which if you let it aim hits most of the time) this being .4 is very disappointing.
After playing this tank QB, I think the build should be more like a heavy tank. Slap some view range in and the experimental turbo plus vents, it should work fine.
This comparison of renegade actualy highlights how insanely good of a tank renegade is. By far my most favourite tank in this game. I would like to point out that the cupola weakpoint is not as big of a thing, because most people dont seem to shoot at cupolas nowdays.
I suspect, that there will be events that require you to play a T9 or T10 - now even inexperienced players will have a T9 tanks, making the event more fun for everybody. And then they'll add some op T9 premiums, that one could also use...
@@thecompyclub5310 it started the same with T8 premiums being as strong or weaker than the techtree counterpart, now we have the BZ overpowering the techtree counterpart in every way
Long time ago WG tried to somehow reflect reality in their stats and gave tanks with high cupolas above average view range - which was nice as it helped players to intuitively assert the stats. Not so any longer it seems with this poor Patton version.
Of all the nerfs Wargaming gave this thing when bringing it down from Tier 10 to 9, the most inexplicable is the view range nerf. Tanks that have giant cupolas Should at least be compensated for the giant tumor of a weakspot by having good view range. The entire point of the cupola is to improve visibility for the commander, after all. "Patton the Tank" should absolutely not have less than 400m base view range. And the bloom when moving and turning the turret should at worst be the exact same as the Renegade. That way the tank wouldn't be absolutely demanding both Optics (which no American medium should need) and Vert Stab to be even playable. If those buffs were applied, the DPM would still be awful and it'd still be a medium with the mobility of a heavy but without the protection of a heavy. It would still be a bad tank. But at least it wouldn't be a tank that's *so* bad it would need 5-6 equipment slots to function.
Worth noting the T123E6 120mm gun is closely related to the 120mm M58, and basically fires the same ammunition. WG giving it less pen on a medium makes little sense given it already has worse gun handling and DPM to 'compensate'. If this tank gets buffed the gun handling, view range, and fire rate should be improved. Pen can be left lower than the M103 as a trade off.
It is a gift to the players playing against them. That's the true gift. It's a gift to the players who watch reviews like this, allowing a very short period of time where you will be able to farm them, especially the noobs playing them.
More facts about Patton the Tank; Not only is the tank identical to the M48A2/T54E2/T123E6 in terms of armour model, but it is also in fact the same as the Renegade besides the armour values. Originally, the M48A2/T54E2/T123E6 was in the game since 2015 as a super test tank, but later got placed on hold. Then in 2019, we got an early look at the T54E2 which later became the Renegade in a mission marathon. About three months ago, we got super test stats for an M48A2 (120) at tier 9 which is exactly the M48A2/T54E2/T123E6, but worse. Come to the present day, we now have it in the form of Patton the Tank. So technically, we will have two of the same tanks in the game at different tiers.
You used to be able to login in, get your underpowered reward tank, delete it and yay, free garage slot for the next tank you get on the tech tree. Is that still the case?

Wouldn’t taking a survivability slot be better if you’re making the view range worse? And plan on fighting heavies, because then you can use a hardening or improved config.?
I'm using turbo, vertical stabilizer and coated optics, maybe in the future if the crew got more skills I would drop the optics, but I am considering the tank as a hull down tank with low aggressive nature, try to be behind the action and fire but even if you get caught you will ricochet some shots but the DPM will fail you
You feel like Renegade, with 0.15 dispersion on moving and tank traverse and 0.1 on turret traverse, needs to use stabilizer, but you don't use it on the new Patton with 0.22 dispersion on moving and tank traverse and 0.12 on turret traverse?
It's only real strength is the pen and alpha so I'd equip it and play to that, using vstab, rammer and improved aiming. Begin battles by sniping and only after other vehicles are weakened or flanks have opened up you can move and make plays.

I recently got 3 of my friends to play this game over the last month. (with 2 of them, we're at level 4 in the referral system, they've just got to tier 7.) This will be their first t9 tank.
the Matilda, LEFH and Pz. s39 have already made one of them quit this game for good. I DON'T want this tank to be my other 2 friend's first experience at tier 9, but it's going to be.
Wargaming this is how you alienate your player base. Don't give away terrible tanks. I'd rather not have a "gift" at all than this spit in the face that will make my friends hate this game.
Exactly! This tank has zero decent stats, let alone a single thing that it is good at. You literally can't play this tank and get a good feel for it.
If they quit so easily, they probably did not liked base game enough to begin with.
@@REgamesplayer
It says something that the only people playing this game are the people that have been playing it since it started over 10 years ago. No one i try can get into this game no matter how hard i try
@@vladdracul2379 That is because it is a niche thing even in gaming. You have to like a very particular style of gameplay and tanks in general in order to keep on playing.
@@REgamesplayer
Not really. It's the gameplay that puts most people off. Heck, I've been playing for over 10 years and even I can't stand entire parts of the gameplay. For one, the RNG accuracy is so annoying and it's a terrible mechanic. You can line up perfect shots on the flat side of a Maus and miss.
It's a free tank and they know it's horrible from the start. It won't be buffed, it's not like that will make any extra money for them
I got lowe black and it's honestly terrible but I won't sell it.
@@NSAhitLIST The lowe at least still makes credits. This is a credit sink and it wont be fun to play.
We will probably see 15 Patton vs 15 Patton tomorrow. :D

Perfect time to mark our favorite tanks since barely anyone are gonna be playing them lol
And one Deathstar going: nomnomnomnomnom with HESH..
heavily doubt it, unless it is all casual players.
Obviously no one who watches reviews and knows about it is gonna play a lot but some people might still try. Low tier rewards where absolutely filling the matchmaker everytime as well and those most of the time werent any good either. If everyone gets it, many are gonna play.
one idea: since wg is adding so many strange mechanics recently, why not introduce one for some American tanks with huge cupolas: a function similar to binoculars, where when still the view range is good, but when moving, bad.
the shuddering noises you made as your tank missed at 15:00 were excellent XD
Well now I know my tiger maus will just feed on these
at the time of writing this the present unlocks in 1 minute
The experimental turbo works well for this tank, as you are almost killing two birds with one stone
Increasing speed and improving the gun handling a bit
Not putting experimental equipment on a vehicle like that
So basically a t9 renegade with a 120mm that's worse than it's t8 105mm brother makes sense. You'd think the turret armor would be identical..
looks like a tank I would sell.
Except you can't because no 3 million credits for you.
@@casuscnactus4864is that true?

@@krag9083
This is where experimental equipment might come in handy. I've slapped mine on the t30 and it works great to increase speed but also turning speed without the cost of dispersion, while costing only one slot. Even though t30 benefits more from the latter in terms of time spent aiming, 47 km/h is a lot different for a medium than 40 or 42 km/h.
But then again, if WG truly wishes to gift, they should buff this thing a touch, even if it's just the armor or just the speed.
I guess this is going into the ”most op tier 9 tanks”, right?
This tank is the equivalent of a lump of coal from Santa Claus. Maybe this is WG saying that they hate us 😂
not sure why it wasn't compared with the american t54. seems like the closest thing in game to it. maybe "patton the tank" will also be able to win bonds? watching your reviews side-by-side was entertaining. not sure why the t54 got better camo than ptt. ah well here's to some interesting games...
TS-54 is just a gimmick tank but still better than this Crapton. And oh, your avatar, 66th Armor Regiment unit crest....I was in 3/66AR way back in the late 80's with the first M1A1's sent to Germany in 2nd Armored Division (Hell on Wheels!)
Man i was complaining about the gun handling of the wz-114 but at least that tank makes credits
You should have compared it with T54 Heavy Tier IX from the auction 10 months ago
good gun depression is balanced with a 10 story building cupola
This makes the object 283 look good.
You think the 283 is bad?
I always do well in it. It's not a sniper but you can't brawl so I assume that's why people don't like it.

When I saw this tank I thought is this an upgrade of the renegade? But I see that even though they look alike they are not the same tank at all.
Whenever WG gives a free tank it'll be a stinker, they never give everyone a good tank
This tank has only one thing going for it: the looks. Even though it is horrendous even for me (a blitz player) statistically it does look good.
one NOTE: if this tank were a TIER VIII tank even with a gun with less alpha damage it would actually be a good tank, for that tier.
I wouldnt take it even as a T7 🤣
Just because its abysmal gun handlung 😅
I hoped for 1,8 million credits by selling it, but WG managed to destroy that hope :/
@@GenHummel96 you need to improve the gun handling above all, not turbo, not loading speed, not anything, gun handling is the way.. with base equipment i could improve the dispersion factors from 0.22/0.22/0.10 to 0.14/0.15/0.08

Yea, I certainly didn't expect anything else from WG
It is like getting a scratchy wool sweater as a present, you are going to try it once and then it ends up in the back of a wardrobe.
I believe this is a T54E2 with a 120mm experimental gun. Strange choice of a name for this though
Yeah it has a super weird name.

No way they buff a tank they gave for free
So my first time trying this tank...I intentionally changed part of your build. I focused on improving my aim time and accuracy. The damage and alpha are what they are, so don't worry about it. I played it as a support med and it can truly wreck house
Crazy how wot gives you a tank that has no strengths
Man, you're good! Thank you for being you :) Adding to my subscriptions list
Wargaming will do absolutely everything to make a tank pathetic if it's for free, while also doing absolutely everything to make a tank a mosnter if it's in holiday boxes (BZ-176)
Can’t believe they made a tank that looks this cool this bad. I mean it’s free so I understand but still
All I think this tank needs is 20m extra view range and some better dispersion values and it would be a fair tier 9 prem and maybe remove that over match area on the lower side.
Either to play a tier 9 premium tank that is weaker than normal tier 9s but earns more or player a tier 8 premium which is as good or better than the normal tier 8s but earn less when compared to the tier 9 prems if that makes sense.
@@alphaxalex1634 You could do this and it would not be a bad idea per say, but that would require a rework of a ton of tanks. Wargaming dont show any intention to do any of this. They just want to troll their player base a bit while on the surface appearing generous.
QB= play like a frontline HT
Skill= play like a sniper schnitzel
So maybe an experimental mobility system might be a decent fit on this, but that doesn't really feel worth it as a band aid on a bad tank.
nothing makes this shit anything near decent...
@@berndschuster986 no, and I didn't say fitting that equipment would make it decent.

JES! ENJOY!
QB, they already changed the tank. They have buffed it before release, though only slightly. It has had an increase to the dpm and improved accuracy
Actually I'm fine with a free underpowered patton tank that could be buffed in the future, rathen then a big mistake from WG flooding the MM and ruining the game for everyone.
Yeah I think they didn't want another bz 176 situation but this tank can definitely be buffed in the future
Oh, my Skoda T 56 will be busy in the following days...
I feel like this vehicle just exists so the big spenders at teir 10 can seal something in there 100 hour tanks they love to use
Tell me your still at tier 5 after a year without telling me
Gonna be cope here but imagine if WG purposely releases this for free and waits for everyone to sell it then suddenly uber buff it in a year
I'm a simple man. When I see that QB has published a tank review, I click on it.
Many thanks WG for the garage slot.
I'll take a free tank. I know it's crappy, but it's free, and free is free.
Tbh they should made this a premium tank so while yeah sure it's bad, you earn more credits than your regular tier 9 tanks.
A tier 9 is a nice gift. As Quickybaby said yesterday dont look a gifted horse in the mouth. Great job wargaming! Nice crewtrainer.
Kazjoo: “this monster of a heavy-medium underrated tank is insane”
That 1k HP E4 shot was personal
I think they should at least give it a free large repair kit, like they did with battle pass tanks if the stats are so bad...
When I entered the game and check the sell price of this I just laughed out loud.
What an absolute insult of a gift.
T3 experimental equipment is what this tank needs.
I suspect, that there will be events that require you to play a T9 or T10 - now even inexperienced players will have a T9 tanks, making the event more fun for everybody. And then they'll add some op T9 premiums, that one could also use...
Highly doubt we ever see an op t9 premium they've been pretty good at keeping them at a very low performing level where a premium should be anyways
@@thecompyclub5310 it started the same with T8 premiums being as strong or weaker than the techtree counterpart, now we have the BZ overpowering the techtree counterpart in every way

Dusting off the FV for some "One-shot" whoopers. Rock on Tankers 🤘😎
I will keep in my garage for future trade-in event when that is most likely made available for tier 9s
Long time ago WG tried to somehow reflect reality in their stats and gave tanks with high cupolas above average view range - which was nice as it helped players to intuitively assert the stats.
Not so any longer it seems with this poor Patton version.
Gonna pop in my Kpz 50t or my Tortoise tomorrow and will go for those bots playing a craphouse
Thanks for the shout out, QB camo is the best camo

cheers for the review QB.... good to know in adavance so we don't waste too much time on it later.
Thanks @QuickyBabyTV for featuring me in IS 5
I've watched 2 reviews this morning, they are both opposite in setup/equipment 1 says Play as a sniper and yours is more play heavy line or medium if not able to do heavy.. think till after Christmas The Cobra looks fun against this tank ?? LOL I'll Waite for a couple more reviews, then probably play it like my other Patton's with Vents/rammer/Aiming.... Sucky part is of American Medium tanks I have Only 1 tank that has a matching crew the M48 :( because of the damn radio operator being with the loader instead of the commander *sigh*
Anyway THANKS for the Review n Gameplay !!
ps. 1 last thing, I think to many of you Streamers/UA-camrs way over use Turbo now days.. 1/2 the maps+ are to small to care and you have gotten spoiled over the last couple years with Power Creep/Speed Creep :) You said it your self in your receipt playback of of old 2012-2014 videos back then the fast tanks went like 30-40 LOL Thanks Again
Did you just put vents instead of a Vstab on a tank that has 0.22 gun dispersion on the move ?!?! You said yourself that you felt you have to use Vstab on the Renagade, which has 0.15 gun dispersion !
What's the point in gaining a few meters of view range when you can't hit a single shot ???
Equipement for this tank is Turbo (or equivalent) + Vstab + Gun Rammer, not questionnable.
that's one hell of a expensive garage slot.
This thing was put in so that newer players can play in tier IX and just be food for the experienced players. Overall it's kind of a good thing for the community.
bold of u to assume this game has lots of new players cuz it dont its 89% the same people that been playing for years which is why the player count is lower than ever for holiday ops
they did vinnie johns dirty with this, when people think of the patton they'll think of the giveaway from vinnie johnes, that is rough
1. People give up the game.
2. WG gives out free tank to get them back into the game.
3. Free tank is a terrible XP and HP piñata.
4. People who gave up the game are duly reminded why they gave up.
Wouldn’t taking a survivability slot be better if you’re making the view range worse? And plan on fighting heavies, because then you can use a hardening or improved config.?
Yea I feel like the way QB played this didn’t match his equipment. Pick your strategy and maximize what you can, eg hardening and stabilizer
I'm using turbo, vertical stabilizer and coated optics, maybe in the future if the crew got more skills I would drop the optics, but I am considering the tank as a hull down tank with low aggressive nature, try to be behind the action and fire but even if you get caught you will ricochet some shots but the DPM will fail you
Oh, there is a crew among that skills
You feel like Renegade, with 0.15 dispersion on moving and tank traverse and 0.1 on turret traverse, needs to use stabilizer, but you don't use it on the new Patton with 0.22 dispersion on moving and tank traverse and 0.12 on turret traverse?
It's only real strength is the pen and alpha so I'd equip it and play to that, using vstab, rammer and improved aiming. Begin battles by sniping and only after other vehicles are weakened or flanks have opened up you can move and make plays.
Running all premium is not an advantage for the average player
