To answer why early and mid war British tanks are slow, the British military doctrine for tanks stated that tanks would always work side by side with infantry. Unlike other military doctrines that had tank battalions working often independently of infantry, with only a few motorized infantry squads as backup. Therefor it was unnecessary for British tanks to go fast because the average combat speed according to the British for an infantry advance was 4 kilometers an hour. So making them go slow wasn't a design flaw but a way to save money that otherwise would've been unnecessarily spent according to the tank doctrines at the time. As a side note, the British in the early war refused American lend leases of M3 and and Stuart tanks because they were to fast. They thought the speed would be a drain of fuel resources and tank crews would unintentionally drive to fast and outpace the infantry they were supposed to be with and isolate themselves.
@@DanielB-ii4up Sort of, while tanks supported infantry for the most part, armored cavalry recon units were used for recon and probing attacks. Which is why the Stuart tanks were developed. And the M3's had a high top speed (for the time) so they could go support the armored recon unit if needed.
Right after they released the Type 59 for sale again, my clanmates and I each got one. Our platoon loaded into a game with a T95, north spawn on El Halluf. The three of us got behind that T95, and pushed him across the A line like a reverse dog sled team over the tundra. XD

It shows just how bad the TOG's rof is when a KV-1 can pretty much exchange shot-for-shot while delivering way bigger hits (and of course never missing its snapshots) -- TOG's rof is probably the lowest of any 75-mm calibre gun in the game, this despite the smallish rounds, huge turret and dual loaders. Meanwhile the E25 with its cramped interior and single loader manages almost twice as many rounds per minute. The TOG's problem has never been it's lack of speed, it's more the anemic ROF.
The Archer was a Valentine chassis with the 17pdr mounted facing the rear of the tank. So the Archer would be reversing into firing position, thus a slow speed. Moving back from a firing position is going forward as far as the chassis is concerned.
There's an SPG that drives that way... I tend to surprise assaulting tanks that think they can out-run me and end up getting shot while I'm running away from them.
It's funny, I really like the Valiant. Hull down meta 'kinda' applies to it at it's own tier and one above. But it's the slow pace that really made me think of map topography in general and how to use it to my advantage is a slow machine

The main reason the Brits have a lot of slow tanks is because they were designed for infantry support (Churchill and Black Prince) or attacking fortifications (A39 Tortoise). Since they are meant to keep infantry protected they travel about walking speed but also sport lots of protection (negated in WoT due to the drastic tier differences). Protection was the main focus, especially with the Tortoise. Since it was expected to attack fortifications at the Siegfried line or other heavily defensive areas. The Archer is slow "forward" (the actual tank manual states that the part without the gun is the front) because it was mainly developed for defensive ambush. It plays very differently in War Thunder, especially in arcade, where you drive rather quick past your enemy and shoot them as you continue driving
British tank design was very WW1. You have the cruiser tanks which were for rapid deployment and getting around quickly for breakthrough tasks. And then you had infantry tanks, which the TOG was meant to be, move up at the same speed as infantry for them to use as cover and fire support. Unfortunately WW2 was very fast paced and so a lot of things like the Churchill, Valentine and TOG were irrelevant a lot quicker than they would have otherwise been. Now, the Archer on the other hand was a high power gun that was meant as a retreat tank, set up, get a few shots off and then book it to another defensive position, rinse and repeat.
"Come on. I've got my rod in position […] ready to feel the vibrations on the rod." QuackyBaby, 2022 5:28 Are we still talking about tanks, strategy and an analogy to fishing at this point? :D
I like the idea of the archer (trap door spider, the driver is in the "rear" so you can shoot and immediately scoot). The real archer wasn't fast backwards or forwards (whichever way you view it). Game-wise, overall the 17pdr on it isn't balanced well. It's been a while but as I recall, the gun doesn't do awesome damage, doesn't reload quickly, aims rather slowly, and isn't that accurate on the Archer. That leaves it with no real advantages.
At least its something compared to the Archer in Warthunder. You are basically dooming yourself to have a bad time 100%. Its not a particular good tank in WoT but it is still kinda fun cause it has such a different playstyle.
Archer wasn't designed for shooting and scooting, it was to be deployed and used exactly like towed anti-tank guns. It exists because nobody was thrilled with the idea of man-handling around a 17 pounder on a carriage.
The gun was mounted rear facing and set up so the driver could stay seated in case the tank needed to move quickly after firing. It was still only a 190HP engine though so yeah "move quickly" is British at best.
Let's give an honorable mention to the Matilda BP for having possibly the lowest power to weight ratio in the entire game: 6 hp per ton. Even with a turbo it only gets to like 6,6. So even though the top speed is 25 kph, it's only going 10 kph most of the time. To put it into perspective, the Maus has 10 horse power per ton with a turbo.
Oh, the T95 teammate boost is a thing in war thunder, too. It's almost an unspoken rule in the games it's in. You gotta help them get up to the fight XD
It's not so much us being sorry that makes us wanna push T95s, it's us knowing that that's a big ol pile of armor and hit points that we can make the enemy shoot at instead of us
accualy the T28 is the designation for the T95 when it is in transport and they take the outer tracks off to more affectively put it onto a train and when they unload it they put the tracks back on
Well back when the loveable doom turtle could only do 13 kph, it was neigh unstoppable and super ridiculous, loved mine back then, but hated fighting them, unless you were close enough and fast enough to flank, with enough hp to take the shot, it was guaranteed death to run into one, almost every time.
British modt of WW2 era tanks were slow because they were meant to move with the troops as a support so they didn't need to go at high speeds (look at the churchills and or matilda). That's what British tank doctrine worked at the time.
The lefe alone is probably the most toxic tank in the game. imo- I think its worse than the E25. The lefe makes playing any teir that associates with teir 5 in matchmaking absolute hell. Its so overpowered and has the reload of a god, and hits you from anywhere on the map. Its utterly dumb :/
I've just stumbled upon a glitch for training new commanders. I'm a console player and i know it works on PlayStation but don't know about Xbox or pc players but here it is to try. Don't assign them to a tech tree tank, put them in a (i.e. American 1st driver) premium tank. If you try to assign the commander to a premium tank of another country, it will try to charge you 60 gold to do so, however if instead you put another (i.e. American 2nd driver) commander in that tank it will say that the (1st) commander has been sent back to barracks in their original tank. You can now put that commander in premiums from another country without spending gold. I just swapped one commander between 5 countries and over 20 tanks for no coins or gold (thats an extra 20×2 for my 1st win of the day in those tanks, throw in the commander xp boost from finishing the season and you can level up a commander really fast. The secret is just don't assing it to a tech tree tank as then the commander is locked into that country and you will have to spend gold to swap countries. (Sorry if that doesn't make any sense, it did in my head and if anyone is interested but unclear just send a reply and i will try and explain it in a better manner if i can. Lol)
You can put crews into premium/reward tanks of the same type and nation without penalty. I.e. your Maus crew can be used in any German premium/reward tank without issue.

Tracks was not welded on, it was able to remove the outside tracks with a small crane, connect the tracks and tow them along
"Come on. I've got my rod in position […]
ready to feel the vibrations on the rod."

Are we still talking about tanks, strategy and an analogy to fishing at this point? :D
No random, no balance and no matchmaker in world of tanks.
"I think I've got a "slow tank" hangover right now." That comment was gold!
QB: Picks the T95 for a battle
Wargaming: Here you go a battle on Highway for one fast tank😂
That Strv in mini mouse game made that match a little more stressful than it needed to be.
"I got my rod in position and I want to feel vibrations in my Rod" - baby, Quicky, 2023.
lol this video was hilarious 😃 specially after watching the archer play.. that OP spg was literally focusing on poor QB
Gonna be very honest, this was a painfully fun video to watch. I enjoyed it.
IF World of Tanks did not have gold ammo it would be far better
'ready to feel the vibrations on the rod'- man defo knew what he was saying XD
19:20 This has been a "Wise words with Quickybaby" moment. lol
The artillery hit at 13:40 was comedy timing lol
Technically the gun on the Archer faces backwards on a Valentine chassis. It was designed to reverse into an ambush position and then shoot and scoot.
17pdr is still a great gun at tier 5. It's not a good gun anymore at 6, especially 7.
The gun was mounted rear facing and set up so the driver could stay seated in case the tank needed to move quickly after firing.
It was still only a 190HP engine though so yeah "move quickly" is British at best.
35:30 - I mean, how hard can it be? Famous words of Jeremy Clarkson before starting new difficult project in Top Gear
I have always loved Province map, tearing round in my tier 3 seal clubbing in my t1-x1
QB just chillin - waiting for those vibrations on his rod.... :)
The Archer's gun was mounted rear facing. So when driving with the gun pointed in the direction that you are driving....you are actually reversing.
You know you're better off uninstalling the game when people spam gold at T5
Slowybaby on the march, like a snail, steady xD
”Hopefully the artillery sucks”
*Takes 500+ dmg from SU-14-2*
”Oh”
Damn , the Tog gameplay made me look the old Toggames with Quicky and Jingels from 10 years ago again for a good lough
The valiant was insane when I played it. Got 78% wins and 2 aces.
They should put the Char 2C in the game.
It's not so much us being sorry that makes us wanna push T95s, it's us knowing that that's a big ol pile of armor and hit points that we can make the enemy shoot at instead of us
accualy the T28 is the designation for the T95 when it is in transport and they take the outer tracks off to more affectively put it onto a train and when they unload it they put the tracks back on
The T28 in the game is the T95 without it's second set of tracks which is part of the design of the tank
At 05:10 QB should play a jazz music on background to relax the mood a bit while in a slow but high damage TD 😊
I'd love to see a video on The Most Complicated tanks i.e. the tanks that require the most control manipulation to fire and/or drive effectively.
Getting one-shotted there by the arty... Hilarious! 😂My favorite moment of WoT... LoL
In a way you have a tank that is even slower then the once presented here, its the UDES 03 in Sniper mode were it only has 5 km/h speed
Speaking about sneaking around in the lower gear: Will the camo get better if you drive slowly, or is it as bad as if you drive full speed?
"So I guess he's got that going for him" - LOWE proceeds to die
SO GLAD YOU BROUGHT OUT THE TOG! I will never let mine go!
I love my LEFH 😇
@@troyandskyelar9588 ur that guy that made my 2 mark kv-1 and 3 mark at2 unplayable :(
QB try to make a video about horsepower tp weight ratio, it will be fun to see which tanks are good but in a other way
I've just stumbled upon a glitch for training new commanders.
Lol)
You could do a video on "zero to hero," where you showcase the worst Tier IX stock grinds, and then show them at top capacity!
Can someone explain how he uses crews from other tanks without them losing experience percentage?? Ty
You can put crews into premium/reward tanks of the same type and nation without penalty. I.e. your Maus crew can be used in any German premium/reward tank without issue.
@@QuickyBabyTV thank you 🙏🏼 love the content🙌🏻
Heres a challenge: take a shot of alcohol whenever quicky jinxes himself
Do you know when they will add WorldOfTanks to windows 11?
"All I do is sit and play video games in my pajamas."
😊 life is good
The T95 and T28 are the exact same vehicle. WG made up the design for the T28 in game. There's several videos on the confusion between T28 and T95, I don't feel like explaining it through text.
i got the lorraine 50 T because i have no interest in the cobra. Needless to say i love the lore 50t so far it seems they fixed the view port issue. It fits my playstyle well and is pretty solid.
Buddy the Lorraine 50t is trash
@@oscargraeme9451 maybe for you. But not for me.
Tog II is one of my favorites; one of the few I've managed to ACE
Try KV-3, it 3marks itself.
@@unbekannternr.1353 getting there. Surprsingly enough, I have more Tier VIIIs than I do Tier VIIs.
@@vulpinemac Never mind, You'll get over it. A 'Russian' game might reward the player for playing Soviet Tonks; pls let me know if You can enjoy KV-2, kind regards.
Me when I play a fast tank: "oh, there is a slow tank here, let's push it."
Me playing the OI: "don't bother pushing me with your tiny tier 5 tank that is three time lighter than me, you barelly increase my speed by 1km/h"
.
Also IRL the Valliant was so awfull it was used to train british tank engeneer with this simple task: "Find as many flaws you can in this tank".
Archer has a insane gun, honeslty pure pleasure
36 MINUTES! 😂 When he said that I died😂
With the Brits you had the infantry support tanks which was as the name gives a hint to foot speed. Then you had the speedy tanks.
I remember watching David Fletcher doing a video on the Valiant. He was brutal.🤣
@QuickyBaby how did you get your crew to repair your tracks in 3s? I play a lot of slow tanks, it would be nice to have that
flashbackt to the valiant, in 2020 or 2019 i think there was an event where you could get the A46 or so? the valliant was required for it, dang that was a pain xD
