- I love my E60 M5 but it is the quietest V10 car I've ever experienced and that needed to change! Today we straight piped it and it sounds awesome!

Your DSC malfunction could be the start of the throttle actuators going bad
Yeah, my e92 had that issue. Pretty easy fix and cheap if you do it yourself
It could also be that the battery is getting a little low. The electronics in the E60 are really sensitive. It happened to mine. I shut it down and plugged it into the trickle charger. Never had a problem with it again.

I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla you cannot here idle even if there is no other noise at all in the background, below 2000RPM it is riduculously quiet.
No where near high pitch enough, the resonance is all off.
You can get fantastic high end exhausts for e60 v10s and this is not one of them

RJ F (this may be a long comment but bear with me, and if you don’t mind id like to hear your thoughts at the end)
I know it’s subjective but I agree with the e39. That’s the one I’d get.
His V10 looks good, but to my eye the e39 is still the best looking, and best sounding M5 ever. I only got to drive one once, and even over the modified Vettes, Audi’s, etc that the dealership I worked for at the time had, the e39 M5 stood out to me. That is one hell of a special car, and I’m sure you would agree that it’s damn near impossible to not fall in love with it before even leaving the lot
I’m not sure if it was all stock or not but damn that thing sounded like a well tuned 60s musclecar hiding inside a James Bond suit!

And while I couldn’t afford an M5 back then (and to be completely honest a good e39 M would be a bit of a stretch for me even now) a little over a year ago I nearly had what to my was the next best thing. A gorgeous ‘98 540i Sport 6 speed ❤️ Now that is one car that was close to the fun of the M, but much more in my price range. Plus it blended in so well with traffic, I swear cops didn’t even look at it. My buddies dubbed it the Autobahn Sleeper lol

Black on black with the factory sport wheels (I know a lot of people didn’t like those wheels but I loved them, especially on the black 5 series
Not nearly as loud as the M5, but I’m sure with an exhaust it would have been pretty close
But...
Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it (it’s both to me) I had noticed some signs of a wreck when cleaning up the engine compartment and low and behold it was in one that even included frame damage. (How someone didn’t have that listed, or be totaled out is beyond me)
But get this, the dealer, which I will not mention the name of, said they would knock $2500 off of the price for “the inconvenience” and claimed they didn’t know about it’s previous wreck... (Hmm, funny that they claimed they do such a thorough inspection of the whole car “to insure our customers the best experience possible” and didn’t notice, yet I spotted it while taking a minute to wipe of the dust on the intake... lol)
Yeah... nope!
If they are going to offer me an insult as a discount, and worse pretend they don’t know this stuff, F that place.
God I do miss that car though...
Maybe I will find another one of these days
But yeah, do you buy their story of not knowing about the accident? And what is your take on the $2500 “discount”?

Best mod for your exhaust is to fit electric cutouts before rear boxes. Sounds like a 90's F1.When you need it quiet getting in late or early in the morning you can go back to stock.

My old E60 which was also muffler deleted (at first) sounds very different to yours for some reason. It sounded a little cleaner with a nicer scream up top
It actually sounded like a Honda Civic with the big muffler sticking out the back while in the garage. Then you took it out on the road and it sounded way better and it seemed faster too. That stock exhaust is huge no wonder it sounds the way it does.
