I’m currently flying through the stout version and can’t wait to try the skinny version. In addition to your super easy to follow instructions, I appreciate you explaining the why and how behind the difference in growth rate between the two.
P.S. It’s fantastic seeing more of your personality and wit come out on Russ’ lives. Your combination of book smarts and pop culture references has me awed, impressed, and laughing all at once. I hope you’ll be hosting some lives on your channel in the near future! ❤️

Love your videos. I tried this shawl -slender version - and was so confused. You always explain it so well. I am now happily doing the stout version.

I've done both versions of this pattern and the Stout version, I find looks better when I'm wearing it,however, I like to crochet the slim version, better as you feel like your getting somewhere, if that makes sense. 😊Ijust'm on my last couple of rows ,or so I thought , of the Vagabond shawl ,when your decreases for the pattern past in front of my eyes last night😲And now when everyones asleep, I shall just have to carry on .It will be worth it in the end.
Many thanks, Amanda xx from the UK.💞

What I find helpful is this. After the first time I 3dc to start a row, I put a red stitch marker around both legs of the loop on the hook (just under the hook). I put a yellow stitch marker the first timed I do a single dc start. I move them as I go up. That way, when I reach a red marker, whether it be the end or the beginning of the row, I know I need to do a 3dc. When I reach a yellow stitch marker, I know I have to either do a single dc start or a dctog end stitch. I can also immediately tell if I have turned or not because I have to always be moving toward one stitch marker or other.

ROW 1: Make a 4-chain foundation. Then dc in 2nd chain from hook (3rd chain) and in 4th chain. (last chain).
ROW 2: Chain 2. Turn. In very first stitch, make 3 dc, then dc across until last 2 stitches. You dctog those last 2 stitches.
ROW 3: Chain 2. Turn. Place yellow stitch marker around both legs of loop on hook. (Yellow will be signal for either ending with dctog or beginning with single dc only.) In very first stitch, dc. Then dc across until last stitch and do 3dc in last stitch. Place red stitch marker around both legs of loop on hook. (Red will be the signal for both ending and starting with 3dc.)
ROW 4: Chain 2. Turn. In very first stitch, 3 dc. Then dc all the way across until last 2 stitches and dctog those two stitches.
ROW 5: Chain 2. Turn. Move yellow stitch marker to wrap it around both legs of loop on hook. In very first stitch, dc. Then dc across until last stitch and do 3dc in last stitch.
ROW 6: Chain 2. Turn. Move red stitch marker to wrap it around both legs of loop on hook. In very first stitch, 3 dc. Dc all the way across until last 2 stitches and dctog those two stitches.
REPEAT ROWS 5 AND 6 UNTIL SCARF IS SIZE DESIRED.

    • @FiberSpider

They both have their merits, but if I were making one for myself I would choose the stout version because it is more substantial.
