    Thank you so much for this video. I'm from South Africa and my daughter has shown signs of CMPA since she was five months old. I went to the paediatrician and she completely dismissed it. I then decided to eliminate all products with milk protein and eggs because she had severe aczema. She's 15 months now and she's doing better. She still gets flare ups but I think I need to read food item packages before buying.

    Hi! Thanks for your info! My 4.5 month old was diagnosed around 1.5 months with CMPI. He had bloody stool, severe gas & pain, reflux , rashes, and eczema . He unfortunatly still has reflux, cradle cap, and eczema as well as some questionable mucous poops. We are considering switching him to formula. I was wondering how did you go about weaning from BF to formula? Did your children transition well without nursing? Did they become constipated? Thanks for you help truly appreciate it!

      Hi there! I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling with this! Weaning my second from nursing to formula was very hard because he refused every bottle - so not only were we having him adjust to a new taste but to a bottle as well (he never had a bottle before 12 weeks). It was hard but we were very persistent for about a month and finally he took to it and it went well. We saw some improvement in as little as a few days and then after a few weeks it was really apparent. The liquidy poops stopped very quickly after switching and we didn’t notice any constipation. Wishing you the best!

    Hi!! I just found your videos I’m curious... did the very smelly diapers and bad gas continue once the diet and formula changed?? If so how long did it stay?? When I transitioned my daughter to the alimentum she went almost 7 days with out a poopy diaper an now I’m lucky if she poops once and she’s even more gassy than before. I just wanna know what I need to ask my doctor so that I’m getting her the right care!

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  3 роки тому +1

      Within a few days of switching to the Alimentum formula we noticed that my son was more content and the extremely loose diapers changed but it could take a few weeks to see the full effects. I will say that Alimentum in itself is very smelly (I’m sure you notice that when feeding her) and it makes diapers smell pretty bad too but they should be noticeably different than before. Also breastfed babies tend to poop more often than formula fed and the 7 days could very well just be her body adjusting to the change. If she’s very gassy it could again be her body adjusting to it or it could be that she’s swallowing air when drinking. Make sure she’s not laying flat when taking a bottle and that she’s using a slow flow nipple. We loved these ones for minimizing gas. rstyle.me/cz-n/e97b9rcnbpp

    I need help my daughter poop is watery and her stomach sometimes gets hard! Her pediatrician recommend we try Nutramigen because she was on the Enfamil Infant my daughter is happy she doesn’t really get fussy but I wonder why her belly gets hard sometimes and when we do tummy time she cries so much! I don’t know what to do, because we’ve changed her formula to many times! She’s gassy too but not too much!

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  2 роки тому

      Im so sorry you’re struggling! I would definitely try a hydrolyzed formula like nutramigen or Alimentum. Even if her issues aren’t dairy related, the proteins in those formulas are much smaller and easier to digest. If her tummy is getting hard it’s likely gas induced. Try to keep her inclined during feeds, make sure you’re using a slow flow nipple, burp well after feeding (and before laying down), and maybe switch your bottle. Some bottles are much better at preventing air bubbles than others. We had really good luck with these. rstyle.me/cz-n/fq87ygcnbpp

    I think my baby has this issue because we been back and forth with formulas but i think im going back on similac alimentum as she spits up less on that. We briefly went on pro sensitive similac but she kept spitting it all up on that. When she was on the alimentum the only difference i saw was she had like 4-5 bowel movements a day on that and she did have gas still is that normal?

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  2 роки тому

      Every baby is different in terms of bowel movements. Some babies go multiple times a day and others go once a week. I would certainly look for any abnormal bowel movements in terms of color consistency etc. But as for the spitting up I would talk to her pediatrician about possible acid reflux. Both are fairly common but if it is reflux related there may be something else they can do to help.Wishing you the best!

      I’m sorry to hear that she’s struggling. It’s quiet possible that those allergens haven’t had enough time to leave your blood / milk supply yet, which is why she’s still having symptoms. It can take up to 3 months for it to be completely out of your system. If it doesn’t improve with time, it may be another allergen as well, potentially soy. My last baby had CMPA but it was diagnosed close to the end of our breastfeeding journey because the pediatrician kept dismissing my concerns since she was gaining weight fine. He sent me to a GI doctor who basically said not to change anything.
    I'm breastfeeding my 1 month old and her stools have always been yellow and seedy, oftentimes more watery or stringy. She has had a few green stools and occasional blood. It just recently started so I haven't mentioned it to my pedi yet. At her last appointment the doctor started her on Pepcid for her reflux.
    I saw a IBCLC a few days ago and I told her I was worried she might have an allergy, but she told me if it was an allergy every stool would be green, not just once every few days. She didn't say much about the blood. She basically said the stool was because of her getting more foremilk faster since she recently had a tongue tie and lip tie revision. She told me not to cut out dairy.
    I'm concerned, thinking I should do so. With your babies did they have a green stool every time?

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  11 місяців тому +1

      I'm so sorry you're struggling! Their stools were green and frothy about 90% of the time and they were extremely fussy and had a very hard belly at times. How is her temperament? Is she a happy baby? Does she seem to be in pain? I definitely know that foremilk can cause very loose stools and green as well (I experienced this when I wasn't draining the whole breast or if I switched sides too frequently) but it won't make your baby fussy or uncomfortable. If she seems uncomfortable or extra gassy / fussy I'd definitely try eliminating just dairy. There's no risk in trying it and if it's the culprit you should notice a difference in just a few days!

    • @haleydugger2512
      @haleydugger2512 11 місяців тому

      @@TheModernJuggle she's mostly a clam baby if being held. but her tummy often gets hard and gets very gassy. She also spits up about 3 times a day and gets hiccups often.

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  11 місяців тому

      It may just be a sensitivity to excess amounts. I'd play around with it! Maybe try only including dairy in one meal a day? There's no harm in trying! If you notice a difference I'd certainly bring it up to your pediatrician but it certainly sounds like a possible mild protein intolerance that she'll likely outgrow within the first 12-18 months! Our pediatric GI said most even grow out of it fully by 9 months!

      My 3 weeks old is passing seedy yellowish liquidy stool after every feed. Always fussy and crying when not held. Spits ups a lot. Looks like he is in pain while burping and so uncomfortable. I have fast let down. Is it because of the too much foremilk or milk intolerance?
      The doctors i consult say its because of his underdeveloped GI tract. He will outgrow it soon. But its so hard to see him suffering all day.

Milk protein intolerance can take some time for them to outgrow but it doesn’t mean she’ll have a milk allergy later in life. 2 of my children couldn’t tolerate cows milk or any milk products until 18-20 months. It’s a gradual process and jumping right to cows milk from nutrimigen is not recommended. Research the milk ladder process and speak with her pediatrician or a GI specialist. The milk ladder it’s a gradual step by step process for testing their intolerance and introducing milk products slowly, beginning with cooked milk, then yogurt, cheese and working your way up to whole milk. It can take months and she may not be ready at 12 months. If you’re not comfortable offering almond milk, you can try Ripple milk which is made of pea protein. Here is a link to the milk ladder. My first one had extreme vomits and explosive frothy poop. I thought it was because of my fore milk. At that time i had no knowledge about lactose intolerance. I tried to include cow's milk after he turned 1. He vomited every time. Though after 2 years he adapted milk, he is going through asthma after the age 3. One Dr suggested to cut milk from his diet. I stopped giving him milk. But its impossible to cut off all the milk products from our diet. So Its not making much difference to his cough.

      It can be very hard and overwhelming to cut out items you're used to eating but it can also make a world of a difference in your baby! I'd suggest limiting what you can while still maintaining your own health and sanity and of course to consult the baby's pediatrician with any concerns 💕

    I’m having issues with my 1 month old. He became constipated at a week old and didn’t have bowel movements for 8 days and if he did, it was very hard and firm. Kinda not as common for newborns. His pediatrician switched his formula 4 times and similac alimentum was the last change and still didn’t help. Waves tried suppositories, stool softeners, colic drops, massages, etc and my baby is still always grunting, is colic, fuzzy, pushing, and still doesn’t have regular bowel movements. He’s even been to ER twice and is seeing GI specialist at 1 month old 😭 anyone have any recommendations? His pediatrician doesn’t know what else to do and his GI special said it’s not normal but nothing is being done 😭

      @TheModernJuggle  Рік тому +1

      I’m so sorry to hear this. It seems like you’re doing all of the right things. I’m glad he’s seeing a GI specialist. They say newborns digestive tract is 2-3 months behind the rest of their bodies at birth, which is why many experience sensitives and discomfort early on and outgrow it around 12 weeks. I’d stick with one consistent formula, do tummy time or other activities where there’s gentle pressure on his belly (I would have my baby on his stomach against my forearm and bounce around), warm compress and start a probiotic if you haven’t already. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

      @TheModernJuggle  Рік тому

      While im not a doctor and would recommend you bring your concerns up to your pediatrician, I’d be inclined to believe your baby has traditional “colic” which is described as excessive fussiness brought on my digestion distress / belly pain. It’s not specifically caused by milk protein intolerance but more that their tummies have a hard time passing gas and processing milk/formula. My family GI once said that newborn bellies could really use 3-4 months more of development prior to being born which is why most colic symptoms subside on their own by 12-16 weeks. I would suggest a baby probiotic and some gas drops. I talk about both in this video: ua-cam.com/video/iP2EP_ewLnE/v-deo.html
      Wishing you all the best!!

    My baby has acid reflux, he spits up from nose, having gurgling sound, and green poop , is he suffering from cow milk protein allergy?

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  Рік тому

      The gurgling and spitting from his nose may imply he’s drinking too fast or with too high of a flow. If you are nursing, I suggest you look into a few different positions to help ease the flow -such as a more upright seated position. If you’re bottle feeding I would use a smaller nipple size and again, adjust the angle and speed at which you’re feeding him (more upright and take breaks). The green poop could certainly mean he has some level of milk protein intolerance. I would test the theory to see and discuss with your pediatrician. If you’re nursing - cut out all milk products for 7-10 days and see if it helps. If formula feeding - try a hydrolyzed, hypoallergenic formula such as Alimentum. Either way discuss with your pedi! Wishing you and your son good luck!

      Sorry to hear this. Have you consulted their pediatrician? That should always be the first step. Then (assuming you're nursing), consider eliminating all milk products (milk, cheese etc). from your diet for 7 days and see if symptoms improve. If they do, you have your answer! Milk protein intolerance is quite common under a year and an elimination diet will help. If you're giving formula you may need to try a hydrolozed formula option. Good luck!

    How did you learn that your baby was allergic or intolerant to Gluten and soy in addition to his dairy intolerance? My LO is 4mo and showing signs of allergies. His pediatrician asked to cute soy and dairy but what made you cut gluten as well? Are the signs different? Also, when you cut out your dairy did you switch your baby to formula while your body detoxed?

    • @TheModernJuggle
      @TheModernJuggle  3 роки тому

      It was trial and error for us. With my second we cut out just dairy and egg to begin with and when we saw no change after a week we cut out soy and again, no real change so we just jumped right to gluten free too. We would have put him on Alimentum sooner however he refused every single bottle so I remained on the elimination diet until 15 ish weeks when he finally took a bottle and then we cut breastfeeding cold Turkey. Within a week or so on Alimentum we knew it was helping!
      With my third now, no I didn’t supplement at all while I waited for my milk to be clean from dairy. I just cut it out and she was noticeably better in 3 or 4 days! Certainly a different level of intolerance than my second. If she was still miserable after an extended period i definitely would have though! It’s such a stressful time but hang in there. You’ll find a solution that works for you and baby!

      Many babies outgrow these sensitives by age 2! My second child had the same allergies as your son (milk egg gluten and soy) and by 18 months he could tolerate all of them and has no dietary restrictions now at 3! You may want to see a pediatric allergist to run a full test to confirm but often times these stomach sensitives are only temporary!

      Diary egg and soy he outgrew by 18 months and gluten took a bit longer. If your son is experiencing rashes or hives I would highly encourage an allergist visit.
