Hitting dime with beast is great of course but hitting quill on curve with beast and having your own quill/awnw to sing with beast is chefs kiss and usually seals the match unless you get incredibly unlucky on your draw
I’m running a non AWNW version but still very much appreciate seeing the AWNW lists for comparison. I agree with a lot of your choices and comments. I’m also finding a lot of use for some Avalanche tech for locations and non song Bucky removal. Maybe something to consider. I have a foil dime if you want to work out a trade. I tend to trade my foils for more regular, playable cards because I make decks for myself, my 2 sons and my wife. Message me if interested and we can figure something out.
I looked at Avalanche a lot, but find it hard to make room for it, unless I want to cut the swords. Maybe it’s worth testing. If you have Discord you can join mine here discord.gg/UbGAhQf9 to talk about a trade, sure!
Thank you for going in depth regarding the card choices. Little details like redundancy for increased consistency made me realize that fishbone quill + Belle SbS makes a lot of sense in a ramp deck. I always found myself digging for an early fishbone quill when playing sapphire steel.
Would you mind going over the correct mulligans for each matchup vs meta decks at the end of the video? It would be nice to have a concise portion of the video to review the cards to focus on before a match.
Awesome video. I'm starting to dip into S/S myself. Any suggestions on wanting a little more location control? Rise of the titans is fine, but would an extra Along Came Zeus be decent enough? I struggle some with castles early.
Playing a similar build. I squeezed in 3 triton decree and don't regret it at all. Cut 1 Tamatoa & 1 AWNW to play 62 cards. Other than that it's the same. Thought about playing Aladdin 3drop for the mirror to continuously get rid of items.
I've been running 62 cards in decks since I started playing Magic in 1997. I run 41 cards when I've played YGO. The actual math is basically inconsequential, and in play I've never had an issue yet. For Magic, it made sense to fit that extra land and extra card that was so hard to cut for. I just kind of extended it to every other card game that I've played since, because it never once hurt me to do so. It's also a small buffer against Mill. The only deck that I run exactly 60 for is Tron, because that deck does need the math to be perfect to insure putting together the mana base asap. Based on my experience, you will probably never play an even 60 again (with exceptions like Tron) lol. 😂
@@Im18AndBalding definitely not, one without the wheel I find to be way more consistent while also not helping your opponents. And that is a bigger deal
Wouldn't say hopeless, steel has a lot of great removal options and can ramp just as much, so if you get to Lucky Dime and have a trigger for it before they do, then I'd say that's a win.
Against Ruby Sapphire either try to shut down their quickly with a combination of your removal and just ramp quicker than them. AWNW can be used strategically to out ramp them.
What about Dragon Stone? Also, why is no one playing How Far I'll Go? Last thing. What about some Ariel Sonic Warrior to turn you late Jump into Smash? And your Zeus reaching for Tamatoa.
Just one comment on Ariel. Besides beeing uninkable I also think it’s straight up better then Belle at the moment. But most of the times I loose my Ariel is due to “the king undisputed” which a lot of ruby/ amethyst lists run very frequently. Also based on my testing the non HNW lists perform better against ruby/sapphire but way worse against ruby/amethyst. So at the end it comes down to the expected meta again :)
Hey quantum sky originally played or still play steel sapphire my question is... he cut out whole new world what is his Benfit for cutting whole new world is that bad or good?
My original Sapphire Steel at the start of the format cut AWNW too. I like that version too because it doesn’t play into giving Ruby opponents a whole new hand, but you sub out AWNW for Beast Tragic Hero which in this format is very susceptible to removal and damage to shit down the draw. AWNW version is better because if you know your matchups and game plan you can use AWNW to your advantage.

For me, Ariel is very strong for the current meta! I prefer two copies in the S/S deck
yeah i think , if you are going to run ariel at all she has to be a 2 of, because shes a build around type character

Yes, hitting an opposing Quill early can be very helpful!

I like tech of Avalanche and Rise of the titans, of course they are meta tech choices based on what you expect to run into in any given tournament.
Thank you for going in depth regarding the card choices.

Glad it was helpful!

It would be nice to have a concise portion of the video to review the cards to focus on before a match.
I can maybe do a video covering the main meta matches.

3 Zeus and 2 Baboom help, if you know locations are a problem prioritize getting out Tinker Bell. You could also run 1-2 Rise or Avalanche.
For me personally I have been having good luck with McDuck Manor in this deck

Which version would you say is better, with AWNW or without?
AWNW is by far
My first build of sapphire steel was without A Whole New World, however, I really think that version is better.
@@Im18AndBalding definitely not, one without the wheel I find to be way more consistent while also not helping your opponents. And that is a bigger deal
3 drop Aladdin any considerations for him? Seems to help in the mirror/Ruby Sapphire.
You can, yes but he is hard quicker by Maui and is slower than Beast since you don’t shift him.
Great break down
Feel great against most decks but hopeless against Ruby saph
I guess you can’t beat them all

areil is huge card vs ruby saphire

I think maybe I need one more
And I’m guilty of exposing dime too early

Sonic warrior seems too slow for this build, but I do like the card.
Dragon Stone is more of a build around also.
Just one comment on Ariel.

Non AWNW lists definitely perform better against RS. While Ariel is the better card for lore over Belle, Belle remains more versatile.

Bro do you have foil Fortispheres? I can’t find them lol
Yeah, a few Canadian shops had them
Hi, 61 cards?
Yea
