Same for me, I always need. to watch someone do it and then I can start to get it. Thats why I stand in line for hours to get up front for Kadlicek and other Dead guitar players!
By adding that pinky when you play the C around the 3-minute mark actually makes it a C diminished, it isn't the next voicing of the C chord. Great video thank you!
I often have brain freeze when discussing theory... I was teaching someone online the other day the jam in Feel Like A Stranger, which is mostly C#m and I kept referring to it as G which completely confused them!
I learn so much from your videos. I've been devouring them lately. Very practical and cause me to push my understanding of the songs. No specific requests from me - I'll be watching anything you have time to post. Thanks!!
Thanks for doing that for me. I'm going to see your version when I get home from the family Thanksgiving. I can already tell you're closer than me. Appreciate you, Cliff.
Largely... there are the first four notes starting with the bend, 2 notes then the same four notes lower and the bend can be used again for texture. I just rechecked watching Jerry do itand the middle two notes he sometimes only does the first one, so the lick, the landing note then the octave lower lick to arrive back at the start.I can skype if you need to see what I mean
You're the man. These songs are so hard to learn by ear and this is so incredibly helpful. Thank you for your time and effort!

Thanks so much! If you ever need a Skype session to work on a specific song keep me in mind!
Thanks Cliff. That might be something I need to take you up on!
Greatest grateful dead lesson ❣️
I need to update the main riff there is a bend in one of the notes on the way down
@@vedantus yess, i felt that while I was jamming with the 7/2/89 jerry version. But overall this is a great lesson ☺️

You're Welcome
Thanks for the lesson this is one of favorite Grateful Dead songs!
Yes a real Jerry Classic!
Thanks for doing all these lessons! I’m trying to learn some dead songs and you channel is an awesome resource 😎
Nice lesson 👍
Glad it helps!
dude, this is a fantastic lesson, including overall progression structure on the neck... nice playing too!
Thank you!
good stuff, thanks Cliff!
Better head back Jed!
Always so helpful thanks Cliff! Could we get a dire wolf lesson? I’d love to see how you go about that song
I'll have to check I thought I put one up...
Another great video thanks for all the licks and ideas... Any thoughts on a West LA Fadeaway by chance?
My band plays that song a lot. I will try to get a video up sometime soon, or you can always schedule a Skype session
You are the best I've found on the dead
High praise indeed! I have been learning from Gratefulguitarlessons.com and love passing on what I am learning!
Really useful, thanks. Can we please have UJB??
Great lesson! Classic Dead. Nice alligator strat btw...😊
I have refined both the main riff and the C walk down since this video, but am never sure how tom get that info out there!
The Other One or Estimated Prophet please! Keep up the great videos!
You totally miss the flat 3rd in the main riff. Db instead of the D where the Db is achieved by bending the C into it.
Can you tab that or send a video example and point out what second it is demonstrated?
Nice lesson. Think it's a C diminished
In the "You know you bound wind up dead" part? Dead anthology lists it as C Co7 Dm7/A C7/G C
He blacked my eye and he kicked my dog.. nice lesson man thank you!
Thanks! Catch any of the Dead and Company?
Clif Edwards just saw a great Tennessee Jed in DC a couple nights ago!

Clif, do you play in a band? If so, can you post? I've been learning a lot from you and wanted to extend my thanks. Keep truckin, kind sir.
