I always wondered, how many people work together on each V plugin? And how many hours/weeks/months go into each plugin in total for that amount of people?
Thank you so much for this! I have been working with ths SEM V plug-in for months now. I have a decent understanding of modular synthesis for a hobbyist, but there were a few things that confused me about this VST. You answered them! Understanding the EXT. is the sub mixer & noise was one, and also that the sub osc is tied to VCO 1. And most of all, thank you for explaining where the release is (ADSR-decay). Awesome overview I'm sure Ill watch a few dozen times lol!!
It's sounds nice but I remember the original sounding thicker and warmer. Shame they couldn't keep the continuity with the look of the front panel to the other section. Just details
Lo Janus The Hardware does sound thicker and more organic, you’re not wrong. I have the hardware real-deal SEM in front of me that I rented for a recording session. That being said, the Arturia emulation is quite good and useable.
Everything about this screams Chemical Brothers or Cyrstal Method. This would make a great piece to a psychadellic - electronic music producer. Thanks PB.
The girl sits there awkwardly and uncomfortably, like she's listening to a dude on a first date drone on about something geeky she cares nothing about. It's like she was hoping he'd make witty and funny conversation, but instead he's showing her how to beat each level of Call of Duty.
All that lovely synth action, and people commenting on her tan etc. If it was two hairy arsed tanned guys, nothing would be mentioned. She's a real woman, not a photoshopped picture.
Having enjoyed this video, I thought I'd share a link to an interview with Ulrich Schnauss talking about his original Oberheim SEM-V, and it's huge! Interesting video for anyone who would like to see some analogue gear in action. ua-cam.com/video/aCxjri0weYQ/v-deo.htmlm38s Thank you Point Blank for these videos!!!
Disappointing clip this one. These presenters do know something about this wonderful machine, but not enough to make this a worthy watch - or even a worthy advert for your music “School”. It fails to impress at all. I am not an expert synthesist, but I’ve been following the ‘scene’ from a distance since the 1980s and the rate of change has been, and still is, spectacular. Arturia do sterling work keeping these old toys on our musical horizon. OB-X seems to cover a lot of the SEM ground (sound) but is another bucket of bits - of, bytes. Arturia are providing exceptionally accurate representations of VCO as DCO
So glad I had the opportunity to help put this plugin together.

My favourite Arturia synth along with the mini V!
Anyone else never want to hear the word 'basically' again after this?
Basically, yeah.
the course should be called "Arturia's Oberheim Sem V Plugin, Basically"
You're so mean! And funny!
Thank you for video !

Very good excelent sounds
Arturia are putting in work
This synth is pretty good! I might get it
What's that waveform visualizer you use? Is that a VST plugin?

just picked up the entire arturia bundle for $199, that was a no brainer... =)

great video
In my opinion the SEM is the best sounding 12db state variable filter and verrrrry intresting .

lol it is indeed a strange format for a synth tutorial, it is clearly her job to be there, I feel bad for her honestly
Hmm..so that's how you build a clock!
So... what time is it?

Yes, it was stiff competition from ARP and Mooooo-g
The 2 voice version of the Oberheim synth was available too.
Hate it when the aircons down in the studio!

Thanks boet this was a really useful video! It really is an Uberheim.
The plugin doesnt sound much like the real thing. Lacks all of its character.
Blimey... a bit warm out there is it?! Gotta love shiny lobsters hahaha
That lady looks so bored. What an ear beating she is taking.
She's not the only one
There are actual other attractive women who are into synths. You didn't have to hire an actress off craigslist.
basically x basically squared a basicillion :)
Nice tan
shiny
Lobster.
damn she's hot
She probably has no clue where the guy is talking about
This guy us totally outshined by the girl moderating the thing... I mean he was all nervous... :-)
