    That’s what I needed - comparison between the sansamp and nux. Great job man, thx a lot!

    Two different pedals with different purposes. I'm a huge Sansamp fan as a clean preamp. It really beefs the sound but IMO it has difficulties dealing with high gain settings. I use a Darkglass B7K when I want to get good high gain tones...but my Sansamp goes with me everywhere.
    The Nux is more like a all in one solution (interface, headphone amp and IR loader) which I whish I had when I started to play several decades ago

      Sansamp is my beloved pedal - i'm never gonna change it for anything else!
      NUX is also good, both sounds great and some of their applications are fairly similar so that's why I'm showing their capabilities :)

    I am really digging this Nux Melvin Lee Nass Preamp+Di. Was looking for a pre-amp with a light-duty drive. This definitely has a nice simple drive. I love that you can go in and change the IR settings on your computer and select the head and cab sims that work for you. My preference is the MLD amp combined with the SV810 cabinet. Another great feature is the ability to turn the cab/amp sim on or off to your amp output and the XLR output. I like engaged for my in-ears and to house XLR output and OFF to my stage amp. There have been some negative comments about the software but they have since updated the firmware to V4 and I had no problem.

    Also you should have started with presence at zero on the sansamp. It's a boost only control, so flat would be fully counterclockwise.
    But i don't want to belittle your work with the video which is great and will help a lot of people out! I just hope i can help viewers understand the nuances better 😊

    Just the very comparison I was looking for!
    Back to back vs the Sansamp Mk2.
    The NuX sounds very impressive. Lots of body and weight to the bass tone.
    The Sansamp tends to highlight twangy string sound but was the winner for me in another more comprehensive shootout.
    Looks like I’ll be getting the NuX. The bonus being the very reasonable asking price.

      The nux is absolutely fantastic. I once ordered 10 preamps between 100 and 500€ including the EBS Microbass, the Ampeg SCR, the MXR and two of the Sansamp Models. The Nux was the winner although beeing the second cheapest pedal. You have great flexibility in the software but also retain acces to most of your tone through the knobs in a live situation. The Sansamp is also really cool and as soon as i found one used for a good price i bought it. It is now by back up DI at every gig because it will work whatever happens: you can power it via phantom power through the XLR ad don't need anything else, how cool is that. Also Batteries are an option. Two things the nux can't do. But it does fingerprint your sound in a certain direction with the blend engaged. If you don't want that it can be hard to "hide" that character, and this is why i originally went for the nux. Hope you have fun with either of these 🎉
      Cheers

    No mention of the NuX CabSims or Aux In/Headphone out or software that has two different preamps or the onboard Noise Gate? Those are DEFINITE advantages to the NuX

    • @WojtekStanisz
      @WojtekStanisz  4 роки тому +2

      Thats mentioned in the text section under the video. I've compared them as two preamps like you've got straight outta box - so that's the default NUX amp with default IR loaded. Cheers!

    I found nux more musical, without so much coloring in a good way. I already had this sansamp . Too bad you didn't use sansamp's blend function. Thanks for the video

    • @WojtekStanisz
      @WojtekStanisz  Рік тому +1

      I didn't used it because of lack of this function in nux. Keep in mind that blend in nux works only for drive channel.

    Great work!
    Just what I was looking for. I was wondered about exact comparison as their knobs layout are similar. They are clearly completely different: Sansamp trying to replicate bass chain with all analog components (opamps) and NBP trying the same in the digital domain as a modeler (tiny sound card with micro dsp in the box).
    NBP have a much more capabilities under the hood, while Sansamp more on the half stomp\half amp side, but again fully analog. I'm curious to know how big improvement on the sound of NBP can make loading awesome 3rd part impulses instead of the stock ones.

    • @WojtekStanisz
      @WojtekStanisz  4 роки тому

      Thats right!
      I'm planning to make video of inddepth settings of NBP-5. Subscribe to be up to date! :P

    • @MascisMan1
      @MascisMan1 4 роки тому

      The stock ones are quite good, but yes, there is space to add 4 additional 3rd party ones. And the cabsims make a massive difference (whether the difference is "good" is up to the user).

  • @FooVines
    @FooVines 6 місяців тому

    Great video, but i want to give a reason why the bypassed signal of the nux sounds darker than the sansamp. You left the cabsim ON. However on the nux, when engaged the cabsim stays active even if you bypass the preamp :)🎉

    • @WojtekStanisz
      @WojtekStanisz  6 місяців тому +1

      I knew that. I've decided to go this way since Sansamp has an as they call speaker simulation circuit. :)
      There wasn't info if it is still "on" as on the nux, but making this video helped me unterstand that you'll never be able to compare two different pieces of gear in every way to satisfy everyone :P
      Cheers!

    Nice video! 👍🏼
    Nux sounds more "natural"
    Samsamp is more aggressive, with much more high mids and high frequencies, but I know it works fine with all others instruments together.
    I don't play rock/metal style, then I prefer the NUX.

    Well compared..I like the Melvin Lee Davis that much that i bought it...i like the lighter MLD eq settings, most will probably like the Aguliar, 8 bass amps & 8 cabs with choice of how to direct your signal using the 2 toggle switches...i have not started it up yet as waiting to borrow a non Google PC as so many reported problems using a PC with Google,they won't recognise the NU.X files to download,cable problems etc...fingers crossed as a great sounding pedal & software (when working) multi DI Bass pedal,pre-amp etc etc...both are good sounding to me but the NU.X MLD get's my vote for tone & connectivity...no disrespect to the Sansamp which is good...... dedicated mid & mid frequency sweep pots would make it more user freindly...the presence pot kind of helps the upper mids...but if my NU.X MLD works as it should i will probably stick with that...

    i think the single pedal era has passed. There is no reason for this generation players to choose single pedals. Thank you for the video. I wish I can see such videos when I was young. You can try this video format on some newest music product. Good luck.

    Very useful video thanks. But there is one difference between two preamp. Nux has cabinet modelling and i think it's open in this video. Sansamp has no cabinet modelling. İt change the sound very big way.

      Definitely. I've decided to make this demo this way because Nux has so many features that i'd be unable to show in such a short time. So here it is the Nux with all the wealth of inventory :P

      Even if it is not specified, the blend on the sansamp has something in it fr me that makes it feel like a real amp. Maybe a LPF and the cut at ~800hz that emulates a cab or gives the resemblence to me...

    It is strange. I heard all the NUX Demos here on UA-cam and thought it could be the ultimate Swiss knife solution ... until I got that pedal myself. Somehow I did not like playing through it. The feel was not natural. Maybe I am spoiled with all my Tech21 pedals. I had to send the NUX back, even so I liked all the features, especially the Overdrive option. Maybe I need something all analog to be happy :-) !

    Well done, good camera, good sound. The single tone is boring. Next time ask someone to change the channel and play full riffs. Or change= switch via foot? Don’t us loopers. That’s too boring

    • @WojtekStanisz
      @WojtekStanisz  2 роки тому +1

      I think both are great for recording. The Sansamp has been in the industry a bit longer, but the Nux is also a very flexible preamp.
      Try to find out which functions suit you better :)

    Blend knob on Nux is completely off, the one on Sansamp completely open, on the first part of the test.

    • @WojtekStanisz

      These are two different pedals. Their knobs may have the same name - but they not share same functions. The BLEND knob serves different purpouse in those two effect pedals. In NUX the BLEND mixes drive signal into main signal while SANSAMP BLEND mixes Tube Amplifier Emulation Circuit (which is important part of this effect) into signal.
