    Pound for pound this is the best I've heard. No really. You can beat it in a single category by spending a lot more but damn, for less than $200 you get all this. And Melvin asked for the right EQ curves. He knows what bass players need.

    Really enjoy your reviews.
    I am really digging this Nux Melvin Lee Bass Preamp + Di. Was looking for a pre-amp with a light-duty drive. This definitely has a nice simple drive. I love that you can go in and change the IR settings on your computer and select the head and cab sims that work for you. My preference is the MLD amp combined with the SV810 cabinet. Another great feature is the ability to turn the cab/amp sim on or off to your amp output and the XLR output. I like engaged for my in-ears and to house XLR output and OFF to my stage amp. There have been some negative comments about the software but they have since updated the firmware to V4 and I had no problem.

    Very good preamp/DI ! I'm surprised of the quality of this little pedal for this price. This review and test is very well done, thank you ;-)

    Could you enlighten me about what compressor settings to use in a recording situation for the bass with ample lows?

    I'm in doubt between NUX Melvin Lee Davis and the MXR M81.
    Which one is the best?

      The nux has more features and some drive. The m81 is 100% clean.
      The only reason that I'm not replacing my m81 with the nux is because the m81 can be phantom powered.
      It's the only thing I use for gigs so it's nice not having to bring along power. Think of the m81 as just a clean di box with eq. The nux is more of a full featured preamp

    Hello. What bass are you playing with? Pickup blend?

    • @JasperLevi
      @JasperLevi 3 роки тому +3

      Yes, we need to know which bass it is being played with, so as to gauge the original tone of the instrument, and then understand how the preamp changes it...

    if you could load up the pedal with the amps and IRs, i'd buy it in a heartbeat

    Ich hätte gerne gehört wie der Bass direkt ohne Pedal klingt. Also im Bypass. Schade.

      It makes other drives sound amazing, adds subtle grit and overtones. I use the aguilar based preamp instead of the stock MLD, eq is more natural and responsive, well suited for rock and metal.
