Has the transmission been ruled out as the issue? Sometimes when the fluid is low in the torque converter, it causes it to not disengage when going into gear and cause the engine to stall.
Thank you for your helpful suggestion. It was a dirty MAF which has been cleaned and now the car finally runs - thank goodness - because I sure missed it while it was not working.
Normally to find the bad coil without any special scan tool or anything else, you would disconnect each coil from the vehicle individually and see which one does not change how the engine runs. When you remove the one that doesn't change how the engine runs, you have found the bad coil.
I'm trying to change mine right now and it feels like they don't wanna go in quite all the way, like the last quarter of an inch or so it feels like some resistance. It goes down and stays held down when the bolt is tightened, and all eight of them do this. Is this normal or is it possible they are not seating correctly?
If not the coil packs what else could it be, changed my spark plugs, and coil packs today, (well I have one more left) and it's still not starting. Please help me
I have a 4.6 in my 06 ford explorer. Is this the same process for my vehicle? Mine sputters at higher speeds but inadvertently. I'm guessing coil pack....suggestions?
Hi yes I have a Lincoln Town Car and it's a 1998 which is a 4.6 and my question is do I have to change the coils out in a timely manner will this interrupted computer flow process
It won't make a difference if it took you 5 minutes to put the new coil pack in or 15 minutes. Disconnect the battery like he showed you in the video and you should be good to go
Help troubleshooting a problem with 1998 Ford Lincoln Town Car would be greatly appreciated. The car starts but when gearshift is put into drive, engine sputters and dies. As long as gear is left in park - it will idle without failing. A new gas filter has been installed, and various checks were done to ascertain that the gas pump is in fact working, keeping pressure between 35-40 psi and also having good volume. A dirty EGR valve was replaced but problem not resolved. Any ideas
not as hard as it looks actually, i know the fuel rail looks like it sits right on top of it but you can wiggle it out carefully and it comes out pretty easily
when replacing my spark plugs all the one on the passage side went smoothly but the ones on the air vent side the boot seemed stuck and one of the tore out!!! it took forever to get the sparkplug out with that piece of rubber on it. also there was a decent amount of fluid in there. well I replaced the spark plug and just put the boot back in there with out the torn off tip. the second one on that side did the same thing!!! What is going on? How safe is it that I put the boot back on with a bit of the rubber tip missing?
If the coils are damaged you may want to replace them. We carry new ones on our website, here's a link to them. www.1aauto.com/1A/IgnitionCoil/Lincoln/TownCar/-/-/1998?VideoReply&VideoReply&ATony

Just like taking a spark plug wire off the plug.👍👍. Old school, baby!
@gtfiveliter It will help to prevent them from sticking. After a few years they can become a pain to remove somethimes.
Do you find it necessary to apply that Di-Electric stuff to the inside of the spark plug boot on these vehicles?
Thanks again for another useful video. Keep up the great work
Nice video, looks easy enough, going to go do it right now
So do you need to replace the wires attached to the coils?
Thanks for video do u happen to know on wich side would cylinder 8 be located i have that one mis firing pls help thank u
It could be. If there's a check engine light on I would have the code pulled to see what it points to.
I have a 97 towncar with the 4.6, is the process the same?
OEM part or copy?
Very helpful. Thanks for the video.
+Donyelle Craig Thank you!

it know right, it was exactly what i was looking for too thnks
Thanks...this video is exactly what I was looking for
It may be a similar process.
If it has the 4.6 in it, it should be a similar process.
Could you make it clear about the use of the dielectric lube on the coil to spark plug point.

Would be nice to see you replace the #8 coil and plug. it seems like it would be very hard to get to

Is this the same step for a 07 town car

if the heater coil outlet hose connection breaks can it be replaced?
New Dorman intake manifold. That's the fix. Saw a guy, tap the old intake, screw in pipe,. And attach hose to pipe.

Which plug is number 5.?
+Clarence Koen 5 should be the first one up front on the passenger side. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts shoot I changed the wrong one then. I changed the driver side first one closest to the bumper.
Is it the same steps for a 1998 Lincoln navigator.
@gtfiveliter I'm wondering about that too.
Our economy ones are made well. We have had really good luck with them. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Driver side a little harder?🤣😅
