    Hi Tara, have you ever heard of this before? So the issue I have with most brow pens is that the color literally turns green on my skin after a few hours - almost like it oxidizes especially if there’s any foundation or if I’ve been sweating. It like it turns green if the product mixes with the oil in my skin. It’s just awful! The only one that doesn’t do this is the Stila one in medium - only bcz it almost has a super cool almost grayish hue to it, but it’s not as juicy of a pen as others.

      OH NO🤦‍♀️😢 I have heard of pens turning green but only select shades. That REALLY stinks girl. I'm so sorry😢😢

      Maybe try to powder the area well before you go in and what i would do if i had your problem is the following ..make sure the area you want to fill in is well powdered. Then i would map out with a soft pencil maybe even with a soft brow powder but very lightly and then i would use the brow pen. Doing it this way, you create a sort of a barrier between your skin and the product and the least chance of oxidizing, also i would set my face with a face setting spray, the charlotte tilbury one is very good, hope this helps

      My urban decay brow blade shade dark drapes did that as well!!! I thought it was because I put powder on top but I guess it was just the pen after all

    • @Allyson6C
      @Allyson6C 3 роки тому +2

      @@briannamoore315 - yes! I’ve found it’s actually worse too if I powder the area 1st. There’s something about makeup, powder & the oil of my skin mixing with the ink in the brow pens that turn the shades green 🤮. It’s why I didn’t respond to the recommendation above to use powder lol. But I now use a q-tip w/either hot water or makeup remover on it & run it through my brows to make sure there’s NOTHING in or around them before going in w/brow products. It seems to help. Additionally, I’ve since found a brow pen that’s far less inclined to turn green on me since I made this initial post - it’s NYX Lift & Snatch brow pen in ash brown. Have you tried it yet? I fill in the tail w/a pencil then draw some hairs in w/the NYX pen & it hasn’t turned green on me (YET🤞). I’ve also incorporated the Almay brow gel in the dark brown too. That stuff is great for thickening & adding hold. Im just sharing what I’ve been using more recently that has definitely helped with that issue. I’ve changed up my brow game since I made this post. ☺️ Have a great weekend!

    I'm sure you're the first influencer that has done a vid/tutorial on more than 2 brow pens and that's so helpful as well as, as usual, totally thorough. I'm blonde and have fairly light blonde eyebrows but with age from the arch I've lost all my brow hairs :( and it's such a pain trying to extend my natural brows and make them look "real". I bought the UD brow blade and the pencil color is fine but the pen tip just doesn't even show up and I purchased it for the pen part! I like my brows a lightish brown (no red nor grey undertones) to frame the eye as blonde is too light to do this. What would you recommend for my situation as I'm probably in the minority but it also might help others like me too? So happy to see you're all better and back to your usual happy, charismatic self. xoxo

    I find that the benefit is like a watercolor. As it dries it will darken but definitely need to go to the darkest color with it. Brow blade is my favorite for actual hair like strokes but it does bleed too. It all depends on the density of your brows. The benefit is great to shade when you have a lot of brows and want to darken a little bit. I want to try the Glossier.

    This was such a great video, Tara! I love the way the brow pens look. I think when the individual hairs are drawn in, the brows look so super beautiful compared to just coloring over them with a pencil. I know it’s not an easy process by any means and I really appreciate all your hard work on these recommendations. These pens can be so expensive and it’s such a bummer when you pay all that money for one that just doesn’t work for whatever reason.

    For me the struggle is always finding the right color. I feel like a lot of the browns are too warm toned or reddish. I use the glossier one in black -I like the urban decay but haven’t found the right color yet. I actually found that the first one I got was way too light

    Brow pens are definitely the best and, for me, the easiest ways to do my brows.
    Thanks to Lisa Eldridge, my first pen was the Suqqu one. I love this particular one, it's very fine, great shades and lasts ages without drying out.
    I've used the new Benefit pen and, like you, I don't like it. I don't have the same control with it,

    GREAT video! You really broke it down. My favorite brow pen on the NYX Lift & Snatch in taupe and blonde. BUT sometimes, they bleed in the areas where I have no hair and forehead wrinkles. Annoying lol. AND they dry up in about 1-2 months. I have loved them though. I'm gonna give the Lime Crime a shot bc of this video.

    Tara I love your videos! I am bad at brows and I have tried the urban decay, Anastasia and Benefit. I LOVE love the benefit, and I think it’s because even the dark brown color is actually quite light compared to the other pens, and the ink doesn’t flow out a lot, so I can use a heavier hand for my dark (but thin haired) brows, and It looks soo natural. My brows just need filling in and also have a very obvious growth direction so it’s easy to angle the three tips correctly. The other pens in dark colors are way too dark and I can’t manage to make individual strokes look realistic or very even.

    I have most of these pens, my favorite is by Stila (although I think the only one that preforms fabulously is the dark) it lasts for a year+, and has staying power. I like the Glossier, except it turned orange on me (even though I only had it for a few months). The UD Brow Blade, is ok, the ink part started running out within a few weeks, and the pencil part is so hard and waxy without any color payoff. I have only tried lime crime’s brow gel, and it’s really good. I have tried several 3 pronged pens and for some reason they work only the first couple of times, then they stop.

      Tara Lynn Maybe it’s more sensitive to have you store them than the others? 🤔 I was actually wondering while watching: Do you guys store them upright or laying down? Yes, I sure did. I had microblading years ago, had 4-5 touch ups and it got to the point where I built up scar tissue and now they have to cut deeper to get the pigment to last and the scar tissue won't numb like it did the first few times so I stopped doing it. I did really like the lime crime one but noticed that it oxidized red on my brows, which is a bummer because I do like it. • @TaraLynnbeauty
      @TaraLynnbeauty  3 роки тому

      Yes, I sure did😬 I had the Microblading done And I regret it tremendously lol. I had it back years ago when it first came out and had it touched up several times. (I think I had my brows done for the first time in 2012, and my last touch up was 2016) So, i am left with what I have now, just a line. And, the last time I had the touch up a few years ago, the numbing cream wouldn't work it wouldn't penitrate through the scar tissue. Therfore I had nothing but pain and misery and swore I would never do it again. They don't tell you that when you're deciding to get it done😆 I always warn people not to do it because you'll reach that level I did and it is horrific pain having them cut deep into your skin, cutting through scar tissue to have the pigment deep enough to stay longer than a month or 2, without affective numbing cream. It's unpleasant to say the least lol. 😳🤣💋 Thank you so much for watching💋

    I agree with the review on the UD Blade. The pencil side is worthless for me. It's definately dry. When I do use it, if it doesn't break off, it'll tend to come off in clumps. I bought mine before they came out with the blackest black shade & the ink still works. It's the most expensive of my brow ink pens and I wish they just came out with the ink side at a fraction of the price. I have yet to try my Benefit & Anastasia ones. I don't want to open them in fear that they will dry out & I would've wasted my money.

    Hi, Tara! Love this video, your brow game is strong now. I love brow pens. I have tried almost all these, and just ordered the Tart micro blading one that’s exclusive of QVC, and I have hugh hopes
    Glossier has an Auburn now, and it’s my favorite now, Mac ones is also good but by mistake I ordered taupe and it’s too light so I use it too much.
    The benefit one sometimes is not consistent with the ink, and I think it has dried, it hasn’t but maybe I have to practice more with it.
    The urban decay is really good, and I do sometimes like to start with the pencil to sketch it at first. It lasts long.
    Doing my brows is one of my favorite steps.
