Guys something I completely forgot about as I was doing research for the next typings series was that for SwSh I forgot about Urshifu Rapid Strike. So use that for SwSh replace one of the mons. Honestly, Lanturn should be replaced.
Or as I like to call it, The Gyarados Show featuring Water-types.
Ludicolo in Hoenn: Yes I am aware its version exclusive but seriously pretty helpful, even if you start with Mudkip or Treecko
Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon: If you use Island Scan you can get Marshtomp. Even if you start with Popplio, Swampert and Primariana can work very well together.
And Paldea some good Water Mons I recommend are: Of course the Quaxly line, since even though Quaquaval is not flying type, it still learns Flying type moves to cover its weakness to Grass, also other good Water types in that game are Azumarill, Gastrodon, Gyarados, and even the new ones such as Veluza (Water/Psychic), and Palafin's hero form

Yeah. And I'm glad Swanna and Simipour are on the Water monotype team for Unova in Black and White.
I think Araquanid is worth mentioning too in gen 7
Simipour is very underrated in my opinion. Scald and Acrobatics is no joke
It also has access to Grass Knot, Shadow Claw, Brick Break and Blizzard. Honestly, I’ve had better luck using it over Samurott.
I just gotta say that I'm sad Walrein and Milotic, 2 amazing water types didn't appear on the Oras team.
You should do a video on choosing one single type for a mono team for every game based on the enemies and pokemon available. For example,a mono psychic team would do well on gen 1 and you have enough picks for a full team,so psychic for gen 1.
Gyarados was my Hoenn HM hoarder and still some use in battle: Surf Dive Waterfall Strength. Got to say that the Tera type gimmick in SV is opening the gameplay massively. Any pokemon can be any type, you can pull unexpected tricks like never before.
Two small notes: in BW2, you can't get the Blizzard TM until Lacunosa Town, well after Burgh. You're just gonna have to hit him with Dewott Fury Cutters and max happiness Azumarill Returns until you win. He might actually be easier in Challenge Mode since he drops the Swadloon for Shelmet and Karrablast.
You can use Island Scan to catch a level 17 Marshtomp on Brooklet Hill in USUM. Swampert is obviously much better than Whiscash, so I'd go for that instead.
Other than that, these teams are pretty much what I'd use and it's cool that my suggestion for the bug type for the next entry seems to have won!

In the first two generations or Kanto or Johto games if I didn't pick the water starter my choice was either Vaporeon on Gyarados buti always felt that the first 3 gens when playing through them had some of the best choices for playing through the games as far as depth was concerned. Although gen 5 comes close because of only having the option of trying new options in Black and White which made early playthroughs a bit more exciting.
Let’s be honest, non starter wise, ever since gen 4 (physical special split) every game the answer is Gyarados lol except black and white being only gen 5 mons.
Also I wrote this before watching and didn’t realize this was teams, I thought it was just best water Pokémon every game 😂, my point still stands though.

Blue: SlowBro, Starmie, Cloyster, Gyarados, Tentacruel, Vaporeon.
Silver: Cloyster, Starmie, Gyarados, Lanturn, Quagsire, Tentacruel

Shinning Pearl: Empoleon, Bibarel, Floatzel, Gastrodon, Gyarados, Palkia
White: Samurott, Simipour, Seismatod, Jellicent, Caracosta, Swanna
Y: Greninja, Blastoise, Gyarados, Slowbro, Barbaracle, Clawitzer
Moon/Ultra Moon: Ash-Greninja, Primarina, Toxapex, Goliscopod, Araqunid, Gyarados
Sword: Inteleon, Dreadnaw, Baraskewda, Dracophish, Gyarados, Peliper

Gyarados and a lot of stone evolutions have been kinda broken in the past 2 generations with "move relearning". Getting a ton to higher level moves and coverage super early. Had a level 7 Ninetails carry me through Sw/Sh easily.
Yeah, no Tail Glow or Hydration Rest strats in LoA. Sure, sleeps gone, but it’s basically like Paralysis, but you take more damage in snow.

Im playing through every region with water teams right now. For kanto, im including that with heartgold. And only doing remakes if there are remakes.

These were good teams and my favourite was the XY team and do either Electric or Ice type next.
Imagine suggesting a dragon team and gen 1 is either full team dragonites or be like Lance with gyarados, aerodactyl, charizard with access to dragon moves
They should of made gyarados a dragon water type with its mega atleast since it has fuck all flying moves
I personally feel like in Galar you can replace a mon with rapid-strike Urshifu

Seismatoad is really underrated for a Sword and Shield run in my opinion.
I used Seismitoad in the champion battles in my run of Shield
With Hoenn, even the likes of Pelipper, Sharpedo, Whiscash (if you for some reason aren't using Swampert), Crawdaunt, Milotic and Walrein are still great choices. While I also could've said Wailord, it's lack of power and unideal speed is what lets it down.
i have done a mono run of heartGold and my team was close to the one you have but instead of starmie i had slowbro and instead of lanturn i had tentacruel

Water types are so OP in-game, almost always the best starter.
The dark and steel Type would be interesting since red/blue/yellow don’t have them. But I’d love to see your take on it!
Dump the starter, use Raticate, Persian and Muk as a reference to their Alolan forms, Arbok because it looks evil, Golbat because it lives in dark areas and Hypno because it abducts children
With steel it's a bit tougher to decide... maybe Blastoise because of the cannons, Onix, Scyther and Magneton as a reference to getting the steel type or a steel type evolution, maybe Porygon because it is digital (?) Idk...

Gyarados
Ludicolo
Swampert/Quaqsire
Kingdra
You have a 4 water types who share no weakness
The other 2 mons can be any other combinations like Lanturn and Starmie.
I feel like you should add version exclusives and just add the caveat that it's an egg traded over
Many consider water to be one of the top 3 best types because of how much there are even.

Small issue with Kanto. It is impossible with mono water, as you cannot teach any water types cut before you need it.

For sinnoh I would Lumineon, Azumarill, Gastrodon, Vaporeon, Gyrados, and Floatzel.
Replace empoleon for lumineon

Basically Gyarados, Lanturn and Starmie
However I almost NEVER use any unless its a HM slave in the first 5 to 6 gen games.

Gyarados for every single game it's available. In other words, Gyarados for every game that's not set in Unova.
It's also worth mentioning that it's actually low-key broken in gen8 onwards, as it learns waterfall at level 21, just one level after it evolves; this alone justified my choice to use it as my water type for shining pearl
