@@flaviampessan don't misunderstand me, I love them!! One of my brothers introduced me to rock music and punk since I was 4 years old (I'm 30). Basic music, fast beat, fun and raw lyrics easy to digest. I don't know why people want to debate making this types of videos. Long live punk!!🤘🏼
There's also in Underclass Hero from Sum 41, the song "this is goodbye", some part are exactly the same as "Everytime I look for you" from Blink 182! Thanks for the video.
@@peter9111 Underclass its also E, the chorus just shifts the progression to start on the 4th grade of the progression (A major), but the whole song is on E. And the intro riff is largely the same, it literally the same four notes for the first part of Dumpweed. Not to mention the chord progression is also the exact same ( E, B, A major, Sum just adds a C#m in the prechorus, Blink is more simple) in both songs. Im guessing you don't play guitar.
The end of "Mr Amsterdam" its a Rerefence to Metallica's "Damage Inc". "The Bitter End" its exactly the same. The title itself kinda sounds like "Battery", its like a parody.
@@peter9111 Well everyone has different views on the subject, I'm just putting it out there what I think, if you don't think they sound similar then okay, I respect that.
@@bryandoessomething6967 Sorry I was a little bit harsh there. I dunno I just don’t hear it. One song is in the key of A and the other E. I can play both songs on the guitar (not a very good guitarist) and I don’t see the similarity.
Sum 41 have always been complete rip-offs. I remember when they first blew up, they made just the type of music that loved back then as a teenager, but still I couldn't stand them because everything they did was so blatantly ripping off other bands. Being influenced and then sounding similar it totally fine, but to me they were always just literally immitating their influences.
The ones that sound like Metallica were likely on purpose
Considering they played at the Metallica MTV Icon, the homage couldn't possibly be coincidence. They clearly respect and love Metallica
@TheBassicBassist yup thsts why I said it likely was not a accident they're big fans
Also Metallica were influenced by punk so it's no surprise some post-punk in turn sounds like some Metallica
C'mon guys it's pop punk. A few cords and a fast beat, it will sound like basically any other song with a similar beat.
I love them no less after watching this!

And a little bit of Don't Leave Me always by blink. 🤔
the main riff is literally dumpweed

Dawg that Blue October is TOO close to be an accident
For All-killer: listen to "Responsibility" by MxPx, then listen to "Motivation" by Sum 41. I can hear where Sum 41 got their sound from on that one.
Sum-41 is the greatest pop punk band ever
I like green day more but at least we can agree that blink 182 aren’t the best 😂
@@GregHeffley-fo1khnah i love green day sm but objectively blink 182 is better
@@nickhughesfitness fair enough
@@GregHeffley-fo1kh I will say Green days hits (American Idiot, Boulevard, 21 guns ect) Were better than Blinks biggest hits
Sum 41’s Welcome To Hell has a similar sounding song… I think to a The Offspring song. But I can’t remember which one
How did you put this together that’s crazy so much time put into this video
1:11 Wow this is extremely similar indeed
"What's my age again" is similar to Green Day "J.A.R."
I mean mark heard the bass line and was a huge inspiration for what’s my age again
The riff in WMAA came from Mark learning how to play JAR. He kept messing it up and that's how WMAA became a thing.
Sum 41’s song thanks for nothing, practically steals the riff of Lit’s miserable.
Lean on Sheena is originally by avoid one thing
Underclass Hero song intro is similar to Dumpweed by Blink 182
It really doesn’t… I’m guessing you don’t play guitar.

The Still Waiting verse riff always sounds like the Master of Puppets verse riff to me
I have a few

Lean on Sheana is legendary
Sum 41 - Still Waiting => Gamma Ray - Valley of the Kings 🥲
