He was just a child actor apparently. So really beard or not nobody will likely recognize him. I would have liked the acting, would have been fun, the money might have been great... but the fame would have been torture.

I love the Woodbury type. The contrast, is incredible it's as if the image looks 3D and jumps right of the paper.
And the cool thing is, because it's a printing process you can make many different copies. I guess this is what made images common place in books and newspapers because it was relatively cheap and repeatable.
    Thank you Mr. Woodbury.

I'm late to the Barret Oliver fan club. I watched the 1987 version of A SECRET GARDEN and Barret plays Dickon. He looks like a teen version of Colin Farrell in that role. Looked up the cast, saw he starred in THE NEVERENDING STORY, the checked out his other work. Found out that he's now considered a foremost expert on the Woodburytype Process. Glad he found a life passion as the story of child stars who crash and burn in adulthood is tragically common.

But also to remember that he has made no attempt to reconnect with his past, or his most iconic roles, and I think its important we respect that. Today there are more than enough easy ways for performers to connect with their fans, and Barret undoubtedly knows about this, but has chosen to not do so, and though I am disappointed, I have to respect his right to do that.

Barret Oliver is an artist and photographer, based in L.A.. His photos and créations shown in expositions and museums. He left acting in 1989, at 16 years old, next year he'll turn 50 years old. Today i watched a reportage about a young man who opened a photo-shop around Lyon, France, using old photo caméra from 1900. Barrett used earlier cameras, before 1885, and he's talented. I wish him the best 👏 and now that this " tintype photography" is hype again, i see that he started in 2005 to create his photo lab, he had his own agenda. He works with artists from different backgrounds. Respect.

I wonder if he'd be willing to come back for a Neverending Story tv series like they did with Dark Crystal and Karate Kid. Id love for him to come back as the strict father who went through a bitter divorce to becoming a single parent with a child taking a new adventure. After growing up and forgetting his dreams as an adult and only to find its ok to be a dreamer even after your older and going back to Fantasia with his daughter/son. I really think it would make a good series even if it might be somewhat predictable. In the video he kind of reminds me of the gnome scientist from the film. lol

No At least is necessary for this talented guy. We all set out on paths that lead to places we don’t expect if you are in the vast majority. Barret was a great actor. Of course he had every right to stop acting if he wanted, especially if he wanted to avoid the Hollywood tragedies that typically befall child actors.
However, I can't help feeling curious. Clearly he is good at what he is doing now. I just hope that he is happy as a person, which he deserves.
As for him changing his appearance a lot - again, his choice, his right. But I can't help wondering what he would look like as an older Barret without making these changes, i.e. with natural aging/maturing.

Jeez, Barret Oliver keeps an overgrown moustache... Became a beardy, balding kinda guy. Unbelievable he was so very cute then as a little boy actor in the 1984 film show with a fantastic storyline for children!

Sleeping on my balcony waiting for my next commute ;) safes so much time having a flying dragon/dog/thingy, no traffic jams people running away screaming, really the best way to travel.

    Hey there,
I recently discovered your video and first of all: it's amazing! I work for MoviePilot, a movie community page here on facebook with a more than 2 Mio. fans (facebook.com/moviepilot). Would it be ok for you if we created a video based on your video here? We would credit you, of course, and link your page in the post's status, so that our fans could become fans of your page in a second. We would also share the video on our Partner-Pages FilmStarts (facebook.com/Filmstarts) and VideoSnacks (facebook.com/VideoSnacks), if it's okay. I think that your work could reach a lot of people who yet have to see your amazing work!
Let me know what you're thinking.
    Cheers, Franz

Be great if he'd just do a one off 10 minute interview and say hi and how life has been going.
Kind of feels like the much loved son who walked out on his cinema audience family with out a word.
Be nice if he would just phone and say hi, even once.
