  • You can purchase written pattern for $4.50:
    www.etsy.com/l...
    You will need:
    1 skein Aran weight yarn
You can purchase this yarn here: tidd.ly/3b05a9T
    ( Medium 4, 10 ply, 8 wpi
It's thicker than worsted weight, but thinner
    than bulky weight)
I used kartopu melange wool 20% wool, 80% acrylic
    6mm crochet hook
    yarn needle
    scissors
    Stitches used:
    ch - chain
    ss - slip stitch
ss in back loops - slip stitch in back loops
ss in front loops - slip stitch in front loops
    Finished size
    medium (women)
    Gauge: 10 chains X 10 rows with slip stitch in back loops (6 mm hook) = 7 cm X 4.5 cm (without stretching) (2.75 X 1.77 inches)
    Cuff length - 5 cm (2 in), Circumference lower part - 25.5 cm (10 in), Whole length - 23 cm (9 in), Circumference - 20 cm (8 in)
    How to adjust the size:
You can easily adjust the mitten size. The first chain is the length of the whole mitten (cuff and hand part). Measure your hand and chain as many stitches as necessary and add chains for cuff length. Ss in front loops are cuff part, you can add, or remove stitches to make it bigger or smaller.
Ss in back loops are the hand part. Thumb part starts in row 18, add more chains to make the larger thumb.
By adding more rows, you can adjust the width of your mitten. Keep in mind, that this stitch stretches a lot.
Skill level: Basic crochet skill is required. You have to know how to make sc, slip stitch, work in back loops.
    Notes:
The pattern is worked in rows and then joined sides together.
    Work very loosely!
When working in unworked stitches left from previous rows: to avoid holes, insert hook in chain 1 from the previous row.

finally made my pair using this pattern! they turned out beautiful but a tip i would give us that when you say work loosely, you gotta work LOOSELY. I ended up going up a few hook sizes because i’m prone to having a really tight tension. Worked much better after that and i finished my second mitt in an afternoon. Thanks for the pattern !! 🥰

The only problem with crocheted mittens, is they are not warm. One step better than no mittens. But they look nice.

Dear Bob Robertson......... In order to make the mittens have a warmth for colder weather you could sew a fleece liner inside as it would be super easy before sewing the mitten closed, to make a very accurate pattern of [[thicker paper(sturdy)]] {{so you can use again for 2nd mitten plus any other same size pair of these you make🙂}}]] and then also to help make them even warmer...Use yarn to crochet with, that is either 100% wool or at least has 50% wool content. The nice thick fleece inner liner will prevent any itchiness you may otherwise feel too.🙂. Or you can also crochet 100% wool ((you can now buy wool yarn that’s machine washable and dryer safe as well!, I’m very glad for this product!))inserts(the same size of mittens roughly and sew them quickly as they will not show from the outside....and these extra steps should make your beautiful crochet mittens much, much, more warm and safe for colder temperatures than without.
Acrylic yarn in even a thick stitch like this one is not meant for long times outsides in -15°C to -45°C with or without winchill.
But knitted crocheted with liner , wool And such should give you a noticeable difference.
P.s. of course I cannot still advise you as to what cold temp and time outside would be safe, even with these methods, so if adapting for a child, please be cautious. 💜hope this helps.💜

@@canadianmum2040 wow, I can't believe you took the time to tell me this. I will pass this on, the liner is a wonderful idea, as everyone loves the hats and mittens. However we are more concerned with warmth then looks or convenience ( kids). Thanks so much!

@@bobrobertson9636 also, if you make sure your yarn has some wool content if not all wool you will see a noticeable difference in warmth.
