  • As part of Music at the Heart of Teesdale's pledge to continue access to our tutors, and in some small way make up for the lack of our regular jamming sessions with our youth bands Cream Tees & Wear'd Aliens during the Coronavirus Lockdown; we have launched a series of Tune Tutorials with our regular tutors to help beat boredom, and continue to build repertoire whilst we're forced to spend time away from each other.

The tune originates from Northumberland, and was first written down in 1805. Its un-resolving nature makes this, like many slip jigs, hard to stop once you start playing it! More recently, the tune was found in amongst the 180+ pieces of music in the Collingwood Collection - a tune book from the 1870's onwards - belonging to a farming family from Stanhope in Weardale, and the inspiration for our new youth folk band the Wear'd Aliens.
