Loved watching the ladies from Gees Bend. Very few things bring me joy like quilting. Very relaxing.
I loved this episode! I am Irish, still living here. It is so wonderful to watch and to know there are people in the world still passionate about their craft. These artists all have a wonderful sense of calm and passion. Well done to you all for your very hard work, God bless you all and I hope your trades continue and your businesses succeed, that the world will slow down and appreciate these beautiful products

Great video! The trouble with ETSY is that they now also allow counterfeit goods, and counterfeit "silver" US coins to be sold. Totally undermines a whole culture.

I got touched by the Lowell Boat shop, bc Maine, for me is such an iconic part of US history, being that New Englanders have long cherished craftsmanship and become to home to many American styles, despite inheriting a lot from England. Even though they had some slavery, for the most part people their learned to make things for themselves and when they did have slaves, they worked alongside them. I wish I could say that I am from New England.
This is just sooo good I’ve loved the ladies work for so long I would give a lot to quilt with them for a little bit and that voice ohhh thank you for posting regards from Ireland

Graham is very good to offer apprenticeships to those kids. Many tradies avoid having apprentices because they don't want the competition later on.

Makes me sad looking back to when Etsy wasn't corporate and all China mass sellers. When it was actually on 3.5% not 5-6 different fees and a percentage. When I didn't have to pay $100 for ads, or try to stick to these new rules to be a star seller and get penalized if I don't respond to spam/scam messages. It's really gone downhill bad. And they're trying to make us offer free (Out of our pockets) 2 day shipping. We're not Amazon, that's the draw of the whole idea of small handmade products. They lost the vision.

I usually really enjoy these and I liked parts of this, but the cultural appropriation /mansplaining quilting segment was almost painful to watch. What a contrast to the many intergenerational segments of this series. Those are some talented (and tolerant) women to let him insert himself into their space like that.
Totally agree. Why did he get brought in to commentate their art and tradition? They spoke beautifully for themselves, as did their work. And when he asked if he could copy her and she politely said yes, I know it was a bit tongue in cheek, but how could it not make you think of the long (ongoing) history of cultural theft and appropriation. Very odd choice to include
Goodness you are ignorant. Before your fancy new term “cultural appropriation” it was called “inspiration”. All artists get their inspiration from other artists so please stop inserting race and culture into the equation like it’s wrong and learn more about art history and “influences of styles” that come from other cultures. It’s nothing new to the art world.

Hang in there folks people are sick of weightless thin itchy microfiber children’s pajama that looks like an old rug after one wash. 100% cotton, natural fibers and great craftsmanship that outlasts is bouncing back. Crap for free is still crap.
Although it's interesting to see the quilter and his craft I find him arrogant.
