Great job mate. I had a wee Starlet that color. Was an awesome car, had all the suspension lowered down to the rubbers, also the fan removed and an electric one which give those little motors noticeably more power. It was like a gocart, no body roll at all ! Total death trap !
I was just looking to your earlier videos. This Holden was a good choice Jason. It got a very nice color and the details gave de Shop Truck an extra dimension. Great Job! 👍❤️
Very nice Holden, second one I've seen in the build-off. I'm amazed at how many fine looking cars I have seen so far. I really like the green but I'm a big Kawasaki fan anyway. 😀
Hi Jason. I've recently tried making my own decals and had the same issues. However, I found a great tip online which works a treat. Once you've created your design invert the image then offer the transfer to the model face down. The decal adheres to the model and the backing slides off without any issues. Great job on this model as always.
Brilliant job on the ute Jason, I like your choice of colour (I think the factory colour was called Tropicana green on the real ones) and your choice of wheels! That grille Matchbox put on this casting is just wrong if you're an Aussie, it looks more like the "egg crate" grille that was specific to the earlier HQ model cab chassis one tonner only rather than a HX. There was both a factory high ground clearance version of HQ-HZ model utes (1971-1980) and also a third party custom builder who made actual four wheel drive version of both utes and station wagons back in the day, both were called Overlanders and using a Toyota Landcruiser chassis for the conversion. As I have mentioned to several other restorers/customisers from outside Australia, if you ever have any questions regarding Aussie cars just ask I'm happy to help out. Anyway I'm off to continue watching the rest of the shop truck videos, they've all been top notch so far.
Thanks mate, appreciate the insight! Yeah I did think the grille didn't match anything I had seen but sort of went with it an extended it as a kind of custom grille. Perhaps one way to get around licensing of the casts
To have more control of how much paint goes on and where it goes on you might want to try painting with an extremely fine needle if you want more intricate detailing.
The simple colour scheme really works. Looks like you need a bit of practice with the waterslides. The choice of decal paper AND spray seems to be really crucial with these, you seem to get what you pay for and cheapest usually isn't best. Trial and error, I guess. The Holden is a good-looking choice for the build though, well done.

Like your choice and just some fyi there is a way to deal with the yellowed windows try putting it into a ziplock baggy with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide then leave it in the sun for a bit and that should deal with the yellowing ive seen it done ive also seen the process done with a uv 💡 as well
That green is 100% correct to the old holdens love watching your videos keep up the good work I’m gonna start doing some restorations on some 60s matchbox of my own do you know where I can find a 68 ford grille and the topper for the dogs
Not sure about the grille unfortunately, not sure many people do reproductions. The transparencies I usually get through model-supplies.co.uk, I think they do one for the dogs. Thanks for the comment!
ANOTHER Holden UTE? Ha! George did one too and I am currently building one. This is too weird, lol. Don't forget to check out His and my shop truck builds :)
Yeah I’ve just had a quick look, what are the chances! His looks to be the older 1-75 version. Looking forward to getting home later today and watching them all!
@@DieCastRestosI couldn't list them all, but there are a shot-load of us builders who took the challenge. Mine's not the Holden, but I am building one right now. Ne sure to check out my shop truck if You have not yet :)
It looks really good 👍, aussie dont like the word pick up truck tho, These utes are like hens teeth, ive not come across one outside of ebays which are over priced
For a history of Holden. If you can source the book "She's a Beauty" by Don Loffler, you will have a concise history of Australia's own car the Holden 48/215 or the FX as it later became known.
Exept for the raised rear Axle this is a very nice custom work. A Tailgate would be nice to. The storage of the old Bullbars would always immediatly destroy the paintjob of a real car. There should be a protectiv wall behind the Cabin. I would like to see such a truck in a military style like in so many countries used by regular and irregular Troops. (also an "Jurassic-Park" car would be interesting.
Great job! TRAX are now producing a beautiful 1:43 scale of this vehicle. Makes an e-pat Aussie very happy www.topgear.com.au/product.php?product_id=1319
Good job!
I dig it! The color makes it pop and perfect wheel choice
Wow what a difference. Looks great.
Nice transformation 👍👍😊
Nice touch having parts being hauled.

That is a truly wonderful image. Was that your first car? Sounds like proper first car material does a Starlet!
Thank you for participating in the challenge. I like the Holden truck and had several as a kid. Your shop truck came out super nice !🍻
The build off brought me here

Good suggestion, I shall give that a go on my next effort I think
Cool work
Great custom Ute Jason , nicely done
Looks great, that is a decent casting from matchbox. Thanks for sharing your video.

What size drill bit ,tap and screws are use on this job, love your work
Thank you. They weren’t these but this is what I use now: 1.5mm drillbit, M2 screw tap, 3mm M2 laptop screws
Here in the states, we call this an elcomino
Just put up a call out challenge video! Check it out and let me know if you’d be interested! Should be a fun challenge..

Loving everything but the stance. With the load in the rear the suspension should be a bit lower I feel.
